Lower Matecumbe is the name of our small island in Islamorada. We are at mile marker 76.5. (THE REAL ISLAMORADA). We are walking distance to Robbie's Marina, home to a large resident population of tarpon the you can watch and feed. They also have boat rentals and tours, and a wonderful restaurant. We are also very close to Bud and Mary's Marina, World Wide Sportsman, Sandy Cove, and Calusa Cove Marinas, and more. There are many restaurants with in three miles to visit by boat or car or bike.
A stay at our location puts you about 100 yards from the Atlantic Ocean, but back water access is just minutes via Indian Key Channel or world famous fishing channels number #2 or #5. Clean, quite, private, fully updated and outfitted makes our house fun and functional for the whole family. Pam and I look forward to having you stay.
I will be waiting for your call to tell you even more about the house and the area.

We are a family that loves to be on and near the water. We love to fish and swim. We also love to share our favorite spots with friends and family.
The Owner purchased this house in 2001
We love Islamorada and this home. Its location helps us easily explore the crystal clear water of both the reef and back waters. We are close to many shallow water snorkeling spots and lots of waterfront restaurants.
This home is located on a quiet private street and it has wonderful protected dockage with quick easy access.
Arrived late in the night & had an immediate issue with unlocking the door, reluctantly phoned Chris, but even with the hour he could not have been more helpful, assuring us that it was just stiff & we were unlikely to snap the key off in the lock... & we were in. Which is all you can ask for, that any issues you may have are dealt with promptly, which they were.
Lovely clean, airy & well presented home, we could not have wished for more, Kitchen was well equipped, lots of books & games, & a lovely place to sit out both day & night (mosquito's were generally only a slight problem, nothing 'Off' wouldnt cure) & the downstairs ... well if you have a teenager after that bit more independence, its perfect for them, its all but self contained & they always appear at mealtimes.
Robbies is walkable (about a mile), but you really need a vehicle to access other areas. 5 mins to Islamorada, 25 to Key Largo or Marathon. The Islamorada direction see's you passing frequent places to eat, a couple of tackle shops & a small store or two, closest Larger store is a Winn Dixie at Tavineer (15Mins), but they were advertising the building of a new Publix which would be closer.
So our view on the location was very peaceful, with everything very accessible by either road or water, what more could someone want..
We had a boat for the duration & at 22ft was docked without problem, although the channel coming into the boat dyke was very shallow & rocky at the point of entrance from the Atlantic, so some care was needed. Very accessible to both the Atlantic Reefs & Wrecks for great fishing & diving. Also just up from Channel 2 & 5 (about 4miles) which are well known fishing marks, & from there easy access into the flats/Everglades (about 30miles to flamingo) & the Gulf of Mexico, which are all great fishing.
Did we like it, YES we loved it.
Would we stay there again when we go back to the keys, YES most definitely.
Only two small things that I could think of that could make it even better...
Include a couple of Kayaks with the property, with it being on the water, they would get so much use. (they can be rented from Robbies, but so much better if they were just their).
Kettle for the Kitchen (I know the Brits are mad but we do like our hot Tea or Coffee in the morning), saves boiling it in a saucepan.
Thanks Chris for allowing us to Share your wonderful home.
Your home was super clean with a very well equipped kitchen. The location was perfect with nice restaurants close by and easy access to travel down to the other Keys, which we did almost every day.
The "walk & bike" pathways that are alongside all of the roads are very convenient.
Great weather..great restaurants --it was a very relaxing week!
My wife and I frequent the Keys two or three times a year, usually staying around Tavernier Creek down to Marathon. This house and the owners were exceptional. Unfortunately we chose the windiest week of the year it seemed, with winds blowing 35-40 knots most of the week but we still caught a lot of muttons, lanes, and mangroves inshore as well as some nice size grouper around the nearby bridges on outgoing tides. This home is a prime location to get offshore (providing the winds cooperate:) )The house was well equipped and located less than a mile from the public boat ramp. A lot of nearby restaurants and amenities. We will be back. Thank you for another great home away from home in the Florida Keys.
What an awesome week in Islamorada! House was in a great location, clean, and comfortable. Just as described- perfect spot for boaters. Very convenient; free boat ramp within minutes, easy access to the Atlantic (we did lots and lots of fishing!) Caught mahi, black fin tuna, snapper - just to name a few. Don't forget your snorkel gear, and stop by Alligator Reef! Thank you, Chris! We will definitely be back!!
I have been coming to Islamorada on fishing vacations with friends for the past 6 years and love the area and all it has to offer. My wife and I decided this would be the perfect place to spend our honeymoon and rented the house for a week this fall. This house exceeded expectations in every way. Excellent location on lower matecumbe, secluded on a quiet street, but close to excellent dining with many of the keys best restaurants near by. The house also had a great kitchen with all the tools needed to cook a meal inside or out on the grill.
We also rented a 24' center console from vacation boat rentals in marathon for the week. The dock in front of the house has ample room up to two boats up to 26', and the canal was loaded with bait. Quick ride to the reef, or take indian key channel to the bay side. I have used other boat rental companies closer by, but I highly recommend using vacation boat rentals from marathon. They will deliver to the indian key channel boat ramp right near by the house. Just make sure to go slow your first time coming in the inlet to the house. It is marked with galvanized pipe on either side and is tight, but easy to navigate.
We had an excellent time, and look forward to coming back again.
We had a wonderful stay at this house. There were 5 adults that came down - primarly to fish. This house was in an ideal location, great access to the ocean, and plenty of dock space. The house was also located centrally to shopping and dining places we enjoy visiting while down in the Keys. The house had everything you needed, was very clean, comfortable and set up perfect for a relaxing Keys vacation!
Anne' Beach and Sea Oats Beach are on our Island and are close by. Lots to see and explore! Close by you can swim with the dolphin or feed turtles!
