This old home is a gem! My husband and I love older homes with character, and this is one. Although it is simple and small, it had everything we needed, was very comfortable, and was immaculate. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen was thoughtfully and well-stocked. All our meals were eaten in, and fresh lobster, right off the boat, was just a few minutes' walk away. Ann was great--she met us when we arrived and filled us in on some of the local lore and family history of her place. She was readily available to answer our questions (email), yet respected our privacy. It is obvious she cares about her home and considers those who will be enjoying it.
We wanted a nice quiet place to relax, enjoy each others' company, and enjoy the water and Lobster! This home has everything. It has a wonderfully rich history with fabulous family stories. We cooked all our meals in, and were in no short supply of local lobster for our meals. We walked the trail at the Giant Stairs, and walked the neighborhood and 500 ft to the cove daily. We were even greeted one morning with wild Turkeys on the fence across the street. We only wish we had arrived a few weeks earlier so that we could have taken a boat trip around the harbor (they closed after Labor Day)... Had a fabulous time! Thank you for sharing your wonderful home, history and harbors with us. :-)
we went last year and had a great relaxing time. The house is addorable. Sunsets are outsanding.
This home is a perfect place for a couple. We loved it! Saw awesome sunsets from the porch, walked to the ice cream store and the great gift shop at the end of the road. The home is clean, well equipped and a home away from home. Ann is wonderful to deal with. The beaches we went to were beautiful, 40 min away and beware of tides...Maine is a beautiful state, and our visit was fantastic...
A genuine Maine home in very nice condition. Ann had the place spotless and we felt comfortable in no time. Beds were comfortable and kitchen very well equipped. This is is cozy home so I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who is looking for starter mansion while on vacation. We loved it!
The sunsets are spectacular. The end of the island and ice cream shop are in easy walking distance.
Highly recommend it!
The view from the cottage is of Harpswell Sound. Within walking distance South are Land's End, gift shop and Lobsterman's statue with water views. Nearby North on the island are the Pinnacle Rock and Giant Staircase walkways. Further along are a church, post office, general store with snack bar and Giant Stairs restaurant. At the North end of the island are Cook's Restaurant and Lobster and Morse's Restaurant with views of the sound and the famous Crib Stone Bridge. Harpswell is a working lobstering village with many coves and inlets to visit. Brunswick is the home of the Skolfield-Whittier, Harriet Beecher Stowe and Joshua Chamberlain museums as well as Bowdoin College. The town also offers many restaurants, malls, fitness center and shops. Close by in Freeport are the famous L. L. Bean and many factory outlets.
