Christmas get away Dec 24-27, 2009

  • 5 of 5

my family and I had a wonderful time at Rincon Retreat! my communication before arriving to the house with Jay was excellent and the local contact was always available for whatever we need it. we even had a Christmas Tree!!!!!!

the house is beautiful, very comfortable and clean. the pool is big enough for 9 ppl. to play in it, and the sunsets are to die for when you sit at the 3rd floor deck. the neighborhood is a quiet one and if you like to walk you may do so to the beach (is like a 7-10min walk going down a hill) the beach is great for surfing and sunbathing not to good for a normal swim (too many rocks), at the beach you have a couple of good restaurants and bars right at the beach.

I love Rincon and my experience was really good that i will definitely stay here again.

Comfortable, Convenient and Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We highly recommend this house to any large group, especially those with children. It would also be lovely for a smaller group with the means to afford it. It's comfortable, convenient and a terrific place to relax and unwind.

The property has so much to offer. It's an easy walk to Sandy Beach and two of our favorite restaurants: Tamboo and Big Kahuna Burger. It's an easy drive to several other gorgeous surf beaches and to downtown Rincón for groceries and local festivals. The pool is inviting and located in a beautiful setting with banana trees, parrots and a warm tropical atmosphere. The top deck is perfect for sunrise yoga and sunset cocktails. It offers a well equipped kitchen and a separate bedroom and den area so that part of any group can hang out on their own (claimed immediately by our grandchildren).

There is no "master" bedroom with a private bathroom in the main house, but the main bedroom (which shares a bathroom with one other bedroom) has a separate entrance to the pool area and large windows, which make it quite pleasant and special.

The property is very clean and though there were some small maintenance issues (like two drawers in one of the bathrooms having broken slides, a broken ladder in the pool, and a shower that wouldn't turn completely off) they did not interfere with our enjoyment of our stay. Internet access was perfect for streaming movies in addition to all other uses. Being located in Rincón, there was the occasional power outage and we made use of the back up water supply fairly regularly. However, there WAS a back-up water supply that was easy to use and a generator for use if the power outage were to last too long. Also, the owner provided 5 gallon bottles of water in case we didn't like the taste of the tap water - all comforts considered!

Luis, the property manager, was pleasant and readily available for questions and concerns. He stopped by to check on things and be sure that we had what we needed. He truly helped make our stay easy and comfortable.

You can't do better than this.

Resort Like Retreat

  • 5 of 5

This is an amazing place. The house and the grounds are beautiful. Our group consisted of 6 adults and four children and we had more than enough room. From the moment we arrived we felt right at home. Luis, the Property Manager, was excellent to work with and he was available in person or by phone whenever we had any questions. We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this home and it's many amenities; including the ac units in every room. We enjoyed lounging by the pool everyday and barbecuing on the large outdoor terrace. The lush landscaping surrounding the home is breathtaking. There is a huge avocado tree right next to the pool and several coconut trees out back. The avocados were still too young but we had fresh coconuts just about every day.

The area is surrounded by beautiful beaches but our favorite was Sandy Beach just a 3 minute walk down the road. The beach was very clean and quiet. The kids enjoyed riding the waves on boogie boards and looking for sea glass along the shore. The kids found plenty of beach toys and beach chairs in the garage.

If you are looking to eat out there are plenty of reataurants and bars around town. Kahuna Burger is excellent and they are located right down the road from the house across from Casa Verde. There is also a great little ice cream place in town.

For a 360 view of the surrounding areas climb up to the rooftop terrace where you can see Aguadilla in the distance, the surrounding beaches, and incredible sunsets.

Overall, we had an amazing time in Rincon and would highly recommend this property.

Thank you again,

The Roman Ceballos Family

Excellent Retreat!

  • 4 of 5

Rating as 4.8 only because the AC in the living room area was down and not repaired while we were there. However, maintaining the bedroom doors opened during the day with the AC running sufficed. Otherwise, we highly recommend this beautiful home. The house is well maintained and on beautiful grounds. The grounds are absolutely breathtaking particularly the back "parcela" with the avocado, mango and banana trees. We had guacamole hour daily, and as such named it "guactail hour" because the Medalla could not be excluded. The pool and whirlpool was a welcome for it was so hot each day. The daily rooster visits (all 20 of them) was a special treat as the "juey" that somehow came up to the back entrance level steps. Luis was available every time we called and took care of our needs immediately. Definitely would return! Gracias for contributing to our great vacation!

Rincon Retreat

The description of this beautiful home is accurate. I feel that the pictures do not capture the "wow" factor you receive when touring the home. This house exceeded all of my family's expectations. We were a family of 7 adults and 2 children (ages 3 and 8) for a family reunion in nextdoor Aguada. We all felt very comfortable with the space and the surroundings were secure. The gates in the front and the back were perfect for my 3-year old son who loves to explore, definitely child-freindly.

The ACs in the bedrooms as well as the living/dining/kitchen and the pool/jacuzzi were life-savers for the warm/humid days. The family appreciated all of the unexpected toiletries provided by the owner such as toilet paper, paper towels, beach/bath towels, shampoo/conditioner/body wash, spices for cooking. The house had everything we needed to cook/clean up. It was maintained well, very clean inside and out. The floorplan was an contemporary open-concept living area which I loved. There was a generator that came on as soon as we lost power unexpectedly through the town.

The proximity to the beaches, restaurants, supermarkets was impressive. It's about a 1-2 minute drive to the closest beach down the road where Tamboo bar is located. There is also Steps Beach and Sandy Beach within a 5-7 minute drive. Econo supermarkets were located very close to the house that I would recommend. There are many places to rent paddle boards, surf boards, snorkel gear and the local food in the area is phenomenal.

Jay, the owner was a delight to work with. He responded timely to all of my e-mails and answered every question, and my security deposit was returned shortly after our arrival back home. Luis, the property manager was also extremely exceptional in giving us all information about the local events and the house, prompt in answering all questions when called, and asking us for feedback for any improvements.

The relatives and friends, even the ones that lived there, who came to the reunion were very impressesd with the house so much so that they said we should have hosted the reunion. My husband and I are already planning a second trip to Rincon and would love to stay in this house again.

Fun in the sun!

  • 4 of 5

We have enjoyed vacationing in Rincon several times. This home was extremely comfortable and well represented in the photos. The pool area was spacious and perfect for a barbeque with local family members. The kitchen was well equipped to prepare just about anything you would want. We found a great fresh fish connection at the empanadilla stand located on Steps beach...beautiful, fresh red snapper for a very reasonable price. Bedding was comfortable and abundant. The air conditioning was much appreciated.. although my husband was born and raised in PR... he can't take the heat anymore lol! Parking was readily available on the gated property. This was much appreciated and a rare commodity on the tight and narrow streets of Rincon. The only issue we encountered was sporadic connectivity with the internet. Luis (the property manager) was always available and attended to this problem but it seemed to be an overall connection issue in the area. This is a problem we have encountered all over Rincon. Would recommend this charming, comfortable home for a relaxing visit, we only regret we could only stay for 6 wonderful days... thanks Jay for allowing us the pleasure of staying in your lovely home! We would also recommend using the airport in Aquadilla... only 30 minutes away and much less congested than San Juan. The beaches in Rincon are lovely for grabbing some rays but can be rocky. Would suggest Crash Boat beach in Aquadilla for swimming. Steps Beach has fantastic snorkeling but can be treacherous if the water is choppy as there are also a lot of rocks....still in love with Rincon!!!!!
