Guestbook comments from the owner

I feel that I must reply to your review of our Parlor apartment to counter your comments. First of all we were gone on vacation in Europe and didn't arrive home until two days before you departed. The pacing upstairs was due to getting in very late from the airport and unpacking. Secondly ,Our neighborhood is very convenient with a large shopping area with plenty of places to buy food or dine, if one chooses to explore. Thirdly,I don't believe that I was intrusive since I politely knocked and asked if I could get some coffee filters for our other guests. You seemed quite responsive to me being there for less than a minute. The first knock was to introduce ourselves and ask if you were comfortable. The room next to you is my Art studio thatI entered to open a window and promptly left .I made a point not to work there while you were there, besides, it was too hot to be creative in the first place....Other than that we honored your privacy to the utmost. Wonderful stay!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in Brooklyn! Jacqui was wonderful - friendly and helpful. We traveled with our two small children and having the extra space was quite welcome. The brownstone was conveniently located near the subway and it was super easy to get around. You won't regret your stay in this beautiful apartment!

Home Away From Home For Our Anniversary

  • 5 of 5

We loved the area, and just the feel of the Brownstone. David and Jacquie were the best, they had recommended some dining suggestions. My wife and I had never been to New York and wanted to experience it all. We decided to stay here where we could experience the subway trains into Manhattan. Its a short 3 block walk to the subway and felt safe walking back and forth twice a day for 6 days. Hopefully we can come back soon. Absolutely would stay here at David and Jacquie beautiful Brownstone. Thank You Again, David and Jacquie!!!

Excellent choice for a stay in Brooklyn

  • 5 of 5

The parlour apartment on the ground floor of a brownstone in Bedford Stuyvestant is wonderful. It was spacious enough for our family of four that includes two teenage boys, and is only a two block walk to the A and C trains that take you directly to Manhattan in half hour or less. We also enjoyed exploring the Brooklyn Heights / Atlantic Avenue area which is even closer.

The apartment is warm and comfortable, amply furnished with eclectic and interesting art pieces. There is beautiful wood detailing in the apartment and building. The queen beds are comfortable and pocket doors afford privacy between the two rooms if desired. The kitchen is well equipped for basic cooking. David greeted us on arrival and reminded us of parking restrictions due to street cleaning. Even with that, street parking is easy to find. We also enjoyed a few neighborhood restaurants - Saraghina's for pizza and Angela's for Caribbean comfort food.

All in all, an apartment with lots of personality in a safe and interesting neighborhood close to Manhattan.

Awesome experience!

  • 5 of 5

Old friends David and Jacqui gifted my wife and I a couple nights in their brownstone as a wedding gift over 8 years ago. We finally got around to making it a priority to go ( all the way from Michigan) and spend some time to explore and enjoy all that NY (and I mean Brooklyn) has to offer. David and Jacqui know the area well and have the unique ability to make you feel at home within minutes of arriving. We had the opportunity to stay in their Parlor apartment and it had everything you could possibly need: a great bed, window air conditioning, a great shower / tub and a kitchen to warm up leftovers. We went to enjoy the culture of Brooklyn and this brownstone is in the heart of it. Located on a street that is registered as historic to the Bedford–Stuyvesant neighborhood (Bed–Stuy to the rest of us) Jaqui and David's brownstone served as a perfect home base for our daily excursions around Brooklyn. The neighborhood is friendly, safe and close to the subway. There is great neighborhood dining and coffee options within walking distance and tons of things to do within a short taxi or Uber ride if you don't want to walk or take the subway. We fit in a trip to the Brooklyn food market (Smorgasburg), the Fort Green Flea Market, a small sampling of the ethnic restaurants in the area (Mexican, Vietnamese, Italian American) and a classic american breakfast at Tom's (look it up). David and Jacqui also accompanied us to an unbelievable night of classic jazz located just a short walk away at the Sankofa Aban B&B for their Brownstone Jazz Series which was the highlight of our trip. We loved our three days in Bed–Stuy and really felt staying and exploring the neighborhood (we didn't cross the bridge to Manhattan during our stay) was worth it as we felt more like rested locals than the frantic tourists. We can't wait to find the time to visit again for at least three nights in order to explore, eat and enjoy more of what this historic borough has to offer.
