Beautiful secluded ranch retreat with lodge and a guest house. The lodge includes 6 bedrooms, 1 on 1st floor, 3 on 2nd floor, 2 on 3rd floor. 5 kings, 2 twins, 1 fold-out sofa and 4 baths and 1 half bath. Guest house has 2 bedrooms, including 1 king, 2 sets of bunks. Sleeps 18 in beds or 20 (including a sleeper sofa in the living room). Other sofas and pads are available. Max # in party is 20 adults or 30 people (with children). Both houses have fireplaces. There are 325 acres for hiking and exploring. Play tennis on the lighted courts, swim in the swimming pool, kayak in the creek, or relax in the jacuzzi/ hot tub. The property is ideal for bird watching and wildlife viewing. Enjoy a covered outdoor pavilion with fireplace -- an excellent spot for grilling and entertaining. This is a wonderful place for gatherings of family and/or friends. Just relax on one of the wraparound covered porches on either the first or second level and enjoy the hill country scenery.

About Paul Hudson

Paul was born and raised in Austin and has lived there all his life with the exception of one year in Brazil and 4 ½ years at Texas A&M University in College Station. In addition to a B.B.A. from Texas A&M in Business Analysis, he holds a M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin, with specialization in real estate and finance. Immediately after graduation from UT in 1989, Paul started a consulting business, which has evolved into a commercial real estate firm now known as Hudson Properties, Inc. Paul is a licensed real estate broker in Texas. He is a member of the Austin Board of Realtors, the Central Texas Commercial Association of Realtors and the Commercial Brokers Association.

Paul is very active in the community where he has served in various capacities including President of the Westlake Rotary Club, Chairman of the Westlake Rotary Club Foundation, and President of the Capital City Toastmasters. He is also a graduate of Leadership Austin’s Class of 2003.

Paul is active in the life of the United Methodist Church. He has served in many leadership roles at First United Methodist Church of Austin, including Lay Leader, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Chairman of the Property Committee and Co-Chair of a capital fundraising campaign. He is currently a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church, where he has served on the Board of Trustees, Staff Parish Relations Committee, and as President of the Companions Sunday School Class.

In addition to his work, community service and church responsibilities, Paul enjoys playing the guitar, singing, songwriting, and many outdoor activities including coaching volleyball and soccer, boating, fishing, snow skiing, hiking, and generally spending quality time with his wife and three children.

Paul says, 'when we first previewed the property, it was mostly just for fun because it was too expensive and too 'fancy' for us, but when we walked through the place, crossed the flowing creek and drove up to the overlook on the hill, it took our breath away. We then partnered with our family and found a way to buy it. We are so glad we did!'

We had a fun time here as a family (17 people) staying the week after Christmas. We came from Seattle, Minneapolis, Austin, Bozeman, MT& Lincoln, NE. There was something for everyone! We enjoyed kayaking, canoeing, paddle boating, fishing, hot tubing, playing tennis, hiking, shooting hoops, wildlife spotting, playing cards & cribbage. We also watched lots of football! The house had plenty of room for the adults and the grandchildren enjoyed bunking in the guesthouse. The property is gorgeous. We loved catching up and making memories. Thanks for providing a wonderful place for our family gathering!

Wonderful experience!

Dear Paul,

Our first ever family reunion has come and gone, but memories of our stay at Henly Ranch are reverberating in our psyche's. Every member of our family, and we were 18 adults and 4 little kids under the age of 10, enjoyed the ranch to our hearts content and were reluctant to leave!!

This was a reunion of my sisters and I (we are three in all) and we had every member of our family present. One sister's family came from India and another's from Dubai.

The ranch had access to activities to meet the needs of everyone and we ranged in age from 4 to 74, with a majority in the 30-45 age group. While the "senior's" relaxed inside watching World Cup and visiting with each other or out on the porch watching the deer and the wild turkey's feeding up on the hill, the "middle generation" biked or hiked up the hill, paddle-boated and kayaked on the stream, played tennis, basketball and table tennis outside during the day and relaxed in the hot tub by night. Being at Henly Ranch was a getaway like no other that we have experienced. It nourished our souls and did wonders for our family togetherness!

We cannot thank you enough for scheduling us for this choice weekend. Our family is totally grateful to you and the entire staff managing the ranch.

Family Reunion

This was a great place to hold our family reunion. We had people fly in from Colorado, Wisconsin, Minnesota and North Carolina. There were 14 adults and 5 children, ranging in age from 4 months to 92 years. We were a little worried about the 100 degree temperatures, but thankfully there was a lot of wind which saved us. Everyone enjoyed the swimming pool and paddles boats. Thank you for having the pools toys and life jackets for the kids to use. Really enjoyed watching the deer & wild turkeys in the evening and hiking the hills to see the cattle and the sunsets. The little kids had a fun time fishing in the creek and throwing them back. Lots of reminiscing and laughs. It was a wonderful time. Gig 'em Aggies

The deer and turkey came to the feeder every morning and evening, and the longhorns and buffalo even came down off the hill once. It's amazing how the breeze blows through the valley every day to help make the heat tolerable. Frequent dips in the pool help too. I hope you visit us again sometime!

Most Amazing of our 12 Family Vacations

The property was pristine and our experience was amazing. It was like driving onto a movie set, far more than the photos depicted. The Hudson family takes great care of their home and we felt like they offered their personal best to us. The furnishings, the outdoor facilities, the ranch roads, the wildlife ... everything was an wonderful experience. Of course it all started, and just got better, working with Cynthia. She's a total professional representative for the Hudsons and a perfect concierge for the property. We highly recommend the experience to all.

Heart & Soul of the Hill Country

For those who relish the chance to unplug and enjoy the countryside showcasing magnificent vistas and a delightful assortment of wildlife, the ranch is an oasis with a grand history. Evidence of the owners' thoughtfulness is everywhere. From extra life jackets to extra refrigerators, the property accommodated our 3-generational family gathering with easy grace. The home is beautiful and well-equipped, but it is hard to leave the majesty of the outdoor surroundings to go inside. An amazing experience we will not soon forget.

Perfect place for a multi age reunion

From two years to eighty nine we all had a relaxing and fun time reconnecting with family and friends from Texa, Oregon and Hawaii ! All used the pool hot tub and especially the boats in the creek. The creek is deep enough for boats and swimming but shallow enough to let small children ( with floaties) to be left "alone". The house is extremely well outfitted to meet every need. And HEB is close by. The tennis court and

Basketball court were well used. The indoor round table was always in use for dominos and Candy Land . I cannot think of a lack of anything. We plan on coming back for third time

A taste of the Texas hill-country that will make you want to never leave.

Born and raised in Texas, I've travelled the two lane road, just off of which Henly Hill Ranch is located, countless times. Never was there a trip down that road that I didn't think to myself "What a beautiful area. I would so love to have a place out here". Finding out that HHR was available for me and my friends to spend some time in the heart of this beautiful land was fantastic, yet it was merely the tip of the iceberg.

Punching in the code at the gate and rolling down the long driveway you know you're in for a treat. Walking into the house you're met with the kind of warmth like meeting your best friend's family for the first time and having them instantly accept you as family. To be listed on a website called "HomeAway" seems fitting. We had twelve people (six couples) staying in the house for our weekend away and not a one of them had a want for anything that wasn't right there. All six couples had very nice private bedrooms with no less than queen beds. Two of these are stunning master suites. Being able to comfortably fit all 12 of us around the dining table the first morning for breakfast gave me a moment of reflection on how fortunate we are to have this time and place. I could say that spending evenings as a group playing games around this table was the best part, but I wouldn't want to take away from how great it was to soak in the hot tub, or from lounging around the comfy chairs by the outdoor fireplace. Even just sitting around the living room on the couches and recliners watching the giant TV was great. Of course if your party has more than 12, there's still another large round table inside and several tables outside.

I'm at 5 stars, and I haven't even mentioned outside the main house yet. Hiking up the bluff provides a view from what must be the highest point in miles. From here you look down over the house, the large grass field next to it, and the crystal clear creek that wraps around the whole thing. Longhorn cattle, bison, and Scimitar Oryx too, not to mention all the deer and turkeys. No worries, only the turkeys come into the yard. Grab any of the boats (canoe, kayaks, pedal-boat) to get a closer look at the cliffs abutting the water with bass and huge catfish below you.

Not enough space for a complete review as I could go on and on. Tennis courts, basketball. We had a masseuse visit the house and arranged a limo-bus tour of the nearby winery, brewery, and distillery too.
