About William & Elisabeth Pinckard

My wife grew up in Austria and I was raised in Florida and we both love the tropical climate and the Caribbean. We have traveled the world and sailed to many of the Caribbean islands but fell in love with Turtle Beach on St. Kitts. Although our children are on their own, they take any opportunity to visit us on Turtle Beach.

William & Elisabeth Pinckard purchased this villa in 2008

Why William & Elisabeth Pinckard chose Basseterre

While visiting St. Kitts in 2003 we fell in love with this unspoiled tropical paradise. We purchased this land and finished construction December of 2008.

What makes this villa unique

Unsurpassed views, the short walking distant to the unspoiled beach, the walk from Turtle Beach to Cockleshell and Banana Beach, the friendly neighborhood and the many activities available.

Beautiful, relaxing getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Villa Alamandra was wonderful. The house is just as lovely in person as it is in the pictures. It is a bit remote but that was part of the charm for us. We did find a car to be a necessity. Even driving on the 'wrong' side of the road was OK! We drove to Reggae Beach Bar and really enjoyed their Friday night Lobster Fest - some amazing food! We also had great dinners at Rock Lobster and the Pavilion. We spent quite a bit of time just lounging by the pool and enjoying the scenery as well as daily visits by the Vervet monkeys - so cute!

The owners were extremely helpful. They provided us with so much information and were a pleasure to work with.

Villa Alamandra Stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a thoroughly enjoyable week at Villa Alamandra overlooking Turtle Bay and neighboring Little Boobie and Nevis Island. The house was perfect with steady breezes, plunge pool, lovely kitchen , master bedroom which overlooks the bay and ocean . It is rather remote but we desired has a sense of wildness...craggy mountainside lots of birds and even a troop of vervet monkeys visited the grounds to our delight one afternoon! The 3/4 mile dirt road that leads to the development has many serious potholes and puddles from the frequent yet fleeting would be nice to see the road repaired. Otherwise we had a wonderful stay....we loved Reggae Beach...saw squid and an octopus, barracuda, trunk and trumpet fish during our snorkeling. Pavillion Restaurant at Sandy Bank Bay was a favorite and Ian, Claudio, Ervin and Erickson were so kind to us.

Lobster night (Friday) at Reggae Beach was delicious ! It was a very pleasant stay and a lovely property with a very helpful manager, Hector, who stocked the house with food ahead of time and a very responsive owner who kept us apprised of what to expect and all that is available in this rather remote, pristine, elegant area of the Caribbean..

When we first saw the online photos of Villa Alamandra we thought the amazing view from the veranda must be photo shopped. Let me tell you, it’s not photo shopped, and it is even more breathtaking when you walk through the front door for the first time! The online descriptions and photos are very accurate so I won’t go into detail about the setup of the Villa. The Villa itself is clean as can be and the property owners have stocked the Villa with everything you could possibly need or want to make your vacation enjoyable. The beautiful Cockleshell Beach is just a four minute drive from the Villa. The beach is perfect for swimming and relaxing in the sun. Some Cruisers do like to come down to Cockleshell Beach for the day because it is the best on the island. (good news/bad news). That being said, we never really had a problem getting a chair, even if we arrived later in the day. We made friends with the wait staff at Reggae Beach Bar and they didn’t even charge us for chairs. They treated us as locals. It’s an easy 3 minute downhill walk from the Villa to Turtle Beach. (It’s harder on the return!) Since there are no hotels or restaurants on this beach , it is not groomed and it the beach is is very narrow. There is a reef right off the left of the dock. It has some nice coral formations. By Caribbean standards, the snorkeling at Turtle Beach and Cockleshell Beach is a B- at best. We rented a Van for the week from Thrifty. Note, Thrifty is the only car rental that has an office right at the airport. The nicest thing about renting from Thrifty is that when we told them that we planned to go to Nevis for the day, they arranged for a Van for our use at NO extra charge! Do not miss a trip to Nevis! We highly recommend booking a lunch reservation at Golden Rock (a Zen Oasis in on the mountain) and complete your Nevis trip with a “Bee Sting” at Sunshine’s on Pinney Beach! We hired Dwayne Hector (contact info provided by owners) to deliver our groceries to the Villa. His service charge was only $50 and it was so nice not having to stop at the grocery and also to have cold beer waiting in the refrigerator when we arrived! Dinners not to be missed, all within 10 minutes of the Villa: Reggae Beach Bar Lobster Fri. Night, the Pavilion-(one of the most beautiful restaurant settings we have ever seen!) Salt Plage-Sun. night they have a band and Tapas menu; Gourmet Burger Night at Spice Mill on Sat. We hope that we have the opportunity to return to Villa Almandra!

Picturesque and super relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

This home provides a fabulous view of Turtle Bay and Nevis from the back porch overlooking the pool. There is a wonderful breeze that flows through the porch - makes for great mornings watching the sun rise and evening meals 'al fresco.' It is on a private portion of the island, so no crowds or traffic - yet, there are several good restaurants within 5 minutes. We enjoyed the island activities and then returned to a peaceful home listening to the waves and birds. Added bonus, if you enjoy snorkeling and have your own gear, on the right side of Turtle Bay is a nice small reef (there are a couple others but they are further out). Finally, we rented a car from Dwayne Hector (the property manager) - he will meet you at the airport - the whole process is seamless and Dwayne is great to work with. The property owners (as well as the on island management) are very efficient and thorough and it was a pleasure to work with them!

Stunning Views & Beautiful home - if you can't relax here you can't relax anywhere

  • 5 of 5

This home has everything you need for a perfect vacation. Views are just incredible from virtually any area of the home. This home had everything to keep both my elderly parents and children happy. Very quiet setting which is perfect for relaxing. As a side note - the property manager rents vehicles and I would suggest this.

Villa Alamandra is located at the southernmost point of St Kitts and is one of 20 homes at Turtle Beach. Water sport activities and restaurants available nearby.

Sugar Cane train ride, catamaran sailing and snorkeling and fishing trips, car ferry to sister island Nevis.

Lunch and dinners not to be missed:

Reggae Beach Bar and Grill, (Gary Pereira) for Lobster Fest Friday night.

The Pavilion Restaurant, at Sandy Bank Bay, one of the most beautiful restaurant settings you will ever see. Special Menu on Wednesday, 3 course meal US$52, or choose from regular menu.

Salt Plage, Sunday night for sunset . They have a band and Tapas menu.

Gourmet Burger Night at Spice Mill on Saturday.

Kittitian Hill on the North side of the island, oh so beautiful.

Arthur's Lemon casual beach restaurant for lunch also on N side

A lunch reservation at the Golden Rock Inn on Nevis (a Zen Oasis on the mountain). Peppe's Coffee Shop at the Christophe Harbour Marina, opening at around 9/9:30 am, good coffee, croissants and panini, relaxed atmosphere.

A two minute walk will take you to our beach, just walk into the Beach House Restaurant’s parking lot through the entrance gate to the beach. If you like the calmer Caribbean waters, you can take an eight minute walk (or drive) to Cockleshell Beach, where you will find many watersport activities, snorkel gear and beach chair rental, snorkeling and several lovely beach restaurants like Reggae Beach Bar or Spice Mill and on to Banana Beach, sight of the new Park Hyatt but not open yet. You would walk to Turtle Beach as above, take a right, and walk along the water’s edge until you come to an opening in the bushes. Take the first left after exiting the beach and follow that road until you see some buildings, then take a left to Cockleshell Beach. You can see that area from the veranda at the villa off to the right. You can drive to several other beaches for snorkeling, like Major’s Bay or Whitehouse Bay. Or take the Nevis Catamaran trip and stop at Shitten Bay for snorkeling. Gear, lunch and drinks will be provided; it’s a fun day trip. One of our favorite and very deserted beaches is Sand Bank Bay, at Christophe Harbor development, an 8-minute drive from the villa. It is good for body surfing, water aerobics or just playing in the water. It is a protected beach but it is on the Atlantic side of the island, where the water is a bit rougher than on the Caribbean side. We can highly recommend a walk to the volcano, although quite tough. Greg's Safari (Greg Pereira) has many wonderful hikes on island.

We like to take the car ferry 5 minutes from the villa to Nevis and drive around the island, stopping at the old plantations for a drink, and very much enjoy lunch at the Golden Rock Inn. Ask for a table with a view of Montserrat. Our favorite dish is the lobster salad sandwich and the chicken roti. Don’t miss a walk through their gardens, just lovely.
