The holiday home

The very appealing and attractively equipped holiday home "Cortijo de la Luz" on the Costa Tropical is located on a 2,000 m² private property with an orchard in Almuñecar, below the national highway on the side facing the beach on a private street that leads directly to the house.

The holiday home offers an amazing view from all terraces and living rooms of the sea and the Playa de Cabria in Almuñecar on the Costa Tropical in Andalusia, which can be reached comfortably on foot.

Other beaches like the "Playa del Tesorillo" (photo below) can be reached in about 25 minutes on foot. There is a less well-known bay "Galera Playa" between here, which is particularly suitable for families with children, because the water is very shallow.

Along the beaches you can find countless cosy restaurants and tapas bars and only here on the Costa Tropical, the most beautiful section of the Costa del Sol, will you find delicious tapas free with your drinks.

By car, you can get to the beach in less than 5 minutes and if you want to leave your car at home, then you can also walk to the bus stop in about 5 minutes.

The two beautiful holiday homes "Mar" and "Sol" with each approximately 80 m² living space (including sun terraces of each 8 m²) are being rented on the top floor of a house.

In all of Cortijo de la Luz, other than the two holiday apartments Sol and Mar, no other apartments are being rented! On the ground floor of the house you will find the apartment from the owners, but they spend several weeks a year in Germany so that you can enjoy complete privacy in the two apartments Sol and Mar. A manager couple will take care of the house, pool and garden - they live 1 km away from Cortijo de la Luz and are glad to help you with any questions. When you rent both holiday apartments, you also have the terraces, garden and pool solely for your own usage.

Each of the two holiday apartments has a separate entrance and a private sun terrace equipped with terrace furniture, which cannot be seen from the neighbouring terrace, in addition to the large pool terrace on the ground floor.

Both holiday apartments have basically the same equipment. With each 2 double bedrooms (1 double bed and 1 x 2 single beds), both holiday apartments offer space for 4 people each.

We would be happy to provide you with cots for additional guests and of course we have cribs for children.

Your pet is also welcome here on request!

Of course each apartment has German satellite TV with Astra reception, free Wi-Fi internet access, gas heating, a private bathroom with shower and WC and a well-equipped kitchen opened up to the living room with a 2 plate gas stove, dishwasher, microwave, fridge with freezer, coffee machine, toaster, dishes, utensils, etc.

There are free parking spaces at the end of the private street, right in front of the house.

It is just about a 20 minute walk to the closest beach on the Costa Tropical in Andalusia and man attractions, like Granada with its world-famous Alhambra, can be reached in just under an hour by car.

The location

The Costa Tropical in Andalusia is located between the Costa del Sol and the Costa de Almeria and is on a particularly beautiful part of the coast, which has the best characteristics for spending a wonderful holiday.

It is located directly on the Mediterranean Sea and the close proximity to North Africa and the Sierra Nevada with the highest summits on the peninsula protect the region from the cold northern winds. A sub-tropical micro climate with 320 days of sun a year makes it possible to cultivate tropical fruits in the lush valleys.

The arrival

The arrival airport is normally Malaga (about 1 hour drive), but Almeria - somewhat further east - is also not much further away. Arrival through Granada also possible.

About Michaela Bischoff

It has been 30 years since I saw this piece of the Earth for the first time. My relatives were looking for a small house as a retirement home in Almuñecar on the Costa Tropical and I was regularly there to visit for many years.

Later, as a student, I decided to design my own website. Then I had the idea of "Flugfrosch"! Why not share all of these beautiful experiences? I started renting houses in 1999 as one of the first providers in the Costa Tropical region.

More and more friends and neighbours joined and now offer their holiday homes and holiday apartments on my website. The many landlords and guests have now become dear friends.

Of course a lot has changed in all the years. The formerly small coastal city of Almuñecar has grown up a lot and adjusted to the guests in regards to the cultural and infrastructural selection. Now there are several large supermarkets with international selections. The daily market hall with fresh fruit and vegetables and freshly caught fish and the market on Friday are absolutely worth seeing!

The offer is rounded off through a few small, specialized gourmet shops, also with Scandinavian, British and German food in case you are looking for something exotic. There are restaurants for every taste and budget. From the well-known American burger shops to the inexpensive fast food chains, international, Chinese, Italian, German, Scandinavian restaurants to amazing Spanish tapas bars where you can still have them free with drinks - only here in the Granada province - while you sit with your feet in the warm sand and watch your children play on the beach. A dream that is just a 2.5 hour flight from Germany. I look forward to your visit!

Traumhafter Meerblick und fantastischer Pool

Wir hatten einen wunderschönen Urlaub. Die Wohnungen waren sauber und gepflegt, es war alles da was man benötigte und die Ausstattung der Wohnungen war sehr gut.

Der Pool ist recht groß und abends kann er auch beleuchtet werden.

Wir hatten einen guten Anfahrtsplan erhalten, wo alle Angaben auch zu unserem Ansprechpartner vor Ort enthalten waren. Die Betreuung vor Ort war mustergültig und super.

Wir werden gerne wiederkommen und freuen uns bereits auf den nächsten Urlaub im Sommer kommenden Jahres.

Buena experiencia, pero necesita mejoras

Buena experiencia, aunque creo que El Cortijo de la luz tiene una relación calidad-precio desproporcionada. Los dos apartamentos que alquilamos estaban limpios y en buen estado. Algo faltos de luz por las noches, cosa que estaría bien subsanar. En cuanto al equipamiento, la lavadora y el lavavajillas funcionaban correctamente. No así las cafeteras, cosa que les hicimos saber a nuestra partida. El agua es de depósito y puede acabarse. De hecho al llegar no había agua, y enseguida se hicieron cargo para llenarlo de nuevo.

El mayor inconveniente es el acceso a la casa desde la Carretera Nacional. Se accede en coche, tras una curva en la que aparece un hueco por donde debe introducirse el coche. Desde la carretera apenas se ve, y se trata de un camino muy empinado, de piedra semi-asfaltada, de un solo sentido, junto a un barranco y sin quita miedos. Peligroso, sobre todo por la noche. Por lo que sugeriríamos que pusiesen algún tipo de valla o cercado con pintura reflectante que facilitaría el acceso por la noche. Suerte que nos acompañaron hasta la casa la primera vez, porque si no, no hay puntos de referencia y al meter el morro del coche se pierde de vista el camino por el desnivel.

La piscina estaba en muy buenas condiciones y las vistas son bonitas. De todos modos, es recomendable comprar anti-mosquitos porque hay numerosas balsas de agua cercanas que favorecen su aparición con las altas temperaturas.

Para acceder a la playa se debe de ir en coche, o andando un buen trecho por la carretera nacional. La cala más cercana es de piedras, estupenda para hacer surf, pero incómoda para tomar el sol. Eso sí, cuenta con tres o cuatro restaurantes que están bastante bien.

Nosotros fuimos en un grupo de 9. Siendo así, el espacio de los dos apartamentos está bastante bien, salvando que los dos cuartos de baño del apartamento dan directamente al pasillo común, por lo que quien está dentro queda expuesto como en un aparador. Hay un tercer lavabo en la planta baja, junto a la piscina, que se puede utilizar, pero no se puede cerrar la puerta, y para tener luz hay que dejar la ventana abierta con la falta de intimidad que conlleva.

Finalmente, hay que recomendar que se cierre la puerta de acceso a la casa por las noches ya que vimos perros callejeros que accedían hasta el aparcamiento en busca de comida.
