Buck Goff purchased this house in 2008
There are so many different places to explore in this area, from rafting to boating and fishing.Sometimes just relaxing on the porch is a nice way to spend the evening.
The nice thing is that most places to visit out from the house are only a hour's journey. The Biltmore Estates or Clemson South Carolina and even the Great Smokies can easily be made into a day's journey.
Very clean house, lovely private location. Thanks for a lovely stay!
We had a great time staying at Rafters Delight. It was close to Heavens Landing airstrip where we attended the Georgia 1/2 mile Shoot Out. There was plenty of room for all 6 of us and two smalls dogs. Not having any cell service or wifi was no problem. You could get reception if you walked up to the top of the mountain. We visited Tallulah Falls, went apple picking and enjoyed the mountain scenery.
This property is halfway between Clayton and the Chattooga River/rafting companies...super convenient! The owner was very easy to work with. The property has a nice, open living/dining/kitchen layout. The kitchen was minimally furnished but it was OK. Seeing the other posts not sure what happened but the property is for sale (sign out front) and does have a realtor lockbox so maybe that is the reason?? The house also has a nice, large, private back deck (with many rocking chairs) that looks into the woods. The small fenced yard below is very overgrown and has small pines trees growing in it! There are two bedrooms/bathrooms-one downstairs and one upstairs. The downstairs bathroom has a jetted spa tub- no shower. The upstairs shower had a very slow drain and we had to prop the drain plug up with a spoon to allow it to drain at all. We found some Drano in the laundry room but this did not solve the slow drain issue. We left a note for the owner (no phone/cell/internet service) so hopefully this will be taken care of. We did not have a problem with the steep road up to the house (typical for the area) and were aware there was no cell service, internet service, or phone service at the property. This was a very quiet neighborhood. Overall, not sure we would stay here again and I noticed that the owner has gone up on the rates since we stayed in July.
We just spent a week in Rafter's Delight and love the house. It has lots of storage, great floor plan and is very comfortable. The owner is very accommodating and a pleasure to work with. We had a wonderful time in the Clayton area. The views and sounds on the deck from the woods is awesome. One morning, as I was walking our yorkies, a doe, not 50 ft from me and I had a stare down. The dogs didn't bark at her and she didn't move for quite some times. There is a negative or two about the place. There is no cell phone service on the mountain. When we drove to the top of the mountain there were times that we could not even get a signal to text or make a call. This became a problem for us after a few days. Other than that we enjoyed every second of our stay in Rafter's Delight.
The owner worked with me to rent his house on short notice and my family and I are very happy with the experience. The house is laid out well and was immaculate. We had our two small dogs with us and could let them roam the fenced back yard for exercise. I am also, like the previous reviewer, from Florida (born and raised on flat terrain), but found the hill-climb to be fun. I would recommend this property to friends and family.
