Super clean renovated apartment in great location

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed in Rome at least ten times and this apartment ranks right at the top of the list for preferred places to stay. Every room sparkling clean, high end hotel quality sheets and towels. Martina was very helpful and accommodating. The location is strategic with great restaurants, bars, pizza places nearby. Monti is one of the best areas to stay in Rome. Subway stops nearby. Great little takeout pizza place right across the street from the apartment. We plan to rent from Martina again.

Comfortable and clean apartment, ideal for family with two kids

  • 5 of 5

The apartment felt like a home away from home, with all the comfort and amenities that we needed for our family's stay in Rome. Martina was incredibly helpful with useful advice on anything from food to holiday activities and opening hours to transportation. The location in Monti is both convenient and interesting with lots of restaurants and sights nearby, but still with a calm neighborhood feel to it.

Clean, spacious, great location

  • 5 of 5

We loved this apartment which is located on a lovely street with interesting wine bars and shops. We went out to eat but also bought groceries and cooked in the apartment's wonderful kitchen. We used the washing machine and hung clothes on the patio, which we appreciated! Martina was very hospitable when we arrived and ordered a taxi to the airport for us when we left. She is organized and had instruction books in several languages. I plan to stay in this apartment again.

Everything You Could Possibly Want in Rome and More--Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is spacious and spotlessly clean with large bedrooms and a lovely open-air atrium sitting area, along with a beautifully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and a washing machine in the bathroom. Every room has its own climate control, as well as a large outdoor window for excellent ventilation. In addition, the building and the apartment feel very secure. Martina is a fabulous owner/hostess who goes out of her way to be helpful to her guests, helping to arrange transportation and providing a looseleaf notebook full of information about the apartment and the neighborhood and a guidebook to Rome. Monti is a great location with easy access to grocery stores and restaurants, as well as dozens of historic churches, in addition to easy access to almost every other part of Rome.

All historical building and squares are very close to the apartment and you can reach them by strolling through the typical old narrow streets of Rome. You can reach the Basilica of St Mary Major in 2 minutes and San San Pietro in Vincoli, in 5 minutes the Coliseum and the Imperial Fora. The apartment is located in via di San Martino ai Monti, a street in an ancient area called Rione Monti. In this street you can find the house where the famous artist Domenichino lived and the prothyrum of St. Prassede Church.

Rome's Monti neighborhood is a collection of art galleries and enoteche (wine bars) just to the east of the Colosseum.

And after a lengthy phase of urban re-organization, it is a mecca for young tourists traveling to the Eternal City.

Bordering the Roman Forum and the Esquiline district, it is also just a stone's throw away from the Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore (with its unique Cosmatesque flooring) and from that of St. Peter in Chains, site of Michelangelo's glorious sculpture of Moses. Set between two main thoroughfares, Via Cavour and Via Nazionale, Monti is in part composed of Suburra, the ancient “Sub Urbe” quarter – i.e., under the city – the nether parts of which give out onto the boulevard passing the Colosseum. The neighborhood's uneven roads are paved with cobblestones (sanpietrini in Italian); at night, a stroll over them is a spectacle in itself. The entire zone revolve around the little piazza Madonna dei Monti, with its characteristic Catecumeni Fountain, designed by Giacomo della Porta. A network of small-time merchants and artisans have still managed to hang on to their businesses in Monti, thus lending to the scene a look of the antique, taking us back into the Rome of yesteryear. Typical gilders' shops and carpentry workshops, blacksmiths and junk dealers embellish these small streets, along with temporary vintage/consignment markets and art galleries (for instance, check out Galleria Fondaco).
