Absolutely stunning view of the lake

  • 4 of 5

What a great place to stay with a large group. It is right...I mean right on Cayuga lake. The location is very rural and peaceful, but central to several wineries and parks. About 15 minutes from the historical town of Seneca Falls. There are four outside seating areas, including a table with seating for 8 in the lanai (FL term for screened in patio). There is also a nice fire pit that we unfortunately didn't have time to use. I went with my mother, her two sisters, a good friend of my mother's, and my poor solo-man husband, so it was nice to have the guest house all to ourselves. The property was clean and well maintained. Janice provided very good directions and customer service. The listing was mostly accurate. We had one issue and that was the bottom bunk with the double bed does not have a mattress; instead it was just covered with a thin plastic like pad and a blanket, which rendered it useless to our adult group. It was described as for children, but I guess I would recommend moving one of the real futon mattresses, for example the one in the guest house, to the bottom bunk for comfort. All other beds were comfortable. I would definitely recommend this cottage to others and may stay there again in the future.

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed the cottage. It is beautful in the fall. I am sorry about the mattress. The bunkbed with the futon on the bottom is a new purchase and I bought a middle of the line mattress for it but I will replace with a very good futon mattress this spring. Hope you come back again!

Another Great Weekend at Lake Cayuga

  • 5 of 5

Being at the waters edge was a thrill of a life time....

October is a great time to be there without all the hustle and bustle of the summer crowd which made our stay very peaceful and quiet.... Fall scenery provides an explosion of colors and wonderment that you never get tired of....

The lake itself has it's own ambience .... The cabin was perfect for our needs, well kept and was the icing on the cake....

Excellent vacation

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful cottage on the lake to get away. My family and I enjoyed it so much we want to come back next year. It is very peaceful and I love the fact that the lake is right out the back door. We also love the fact that it is pet friendly. Our dog couldn't stay away from the water. The cottage is cozy and it feels like a home away from home. The owner of the cottage is very nice and answered all of our questions in a timely manner. That just makes everything so much easier when renting a cottage!

Life on the Lake Made Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Wow; the cottage on the lake exceeded all of our expectations in our family of four. From the moment we arrived, it felt like home to us. The screened-in porch overlooking the lake was especially an added bonus to our stay. We were not only impressed by the spectacular view, but also by the fact we had our own private beach. Many of our most memorable evenings during our stay were spent sitting on the beach by the pit fire viewing the moonlit lake. Our college-aged child greatly enjoyed the privacy and amenities of the guest cottage. Lastly, Janice was very hospitable and accommodating both before and during our stay.

Owner's Response: Richard, so glad your family enjoyed it. Yes, the guest cottage is great for a little privacy and a place to get awhile for a little while. We love the porch too.. I live on it when I am there.. eating, napping, reading, watching the lake...

Perfect vacation rental for the family!

  • 5 of 5

Lake front Cottage- is a perfectly comfortable vacation home on Cayuga Lake. It has everything you need and then some..for a fun filled time on the lake. The home is spacious and has ample bedrooms and bathrooms for a larger family. The main house and added cottage across the street allow for flexible lodging. Our one daughter loved sleeping on the screened in porch falling asleep to the stars and waking to the sun! The home is so well equipped and seems to have everything you need. We especially enjoyed the fun professional-level popcorn machine for late night card games or movie watching.

Janice make the rental process very easy and is accommodating with your special requests. It is hard to leave the lake but if you do, yummy restaurants and wineries are all nearby.

We look forward to staying there every summer.

Owner's Response: Patti, So glad your family had such a great time. I have tried to think of things to add that guests (and my family) would like: the popcorn machine, a margarita machine/blender, big grill, and pie irons to make grilled cheese, cherry pies, and s'more pies on the campfire. and of course, the floats and paddleboat and canoe!!! Hope to see you again next summer! Janice

Father's day weekend

  • 5 of 5

We rented the cottage for a three-day Father’s day weekend and it was wonderful. My two sons and my nephew all in their 20’s started the day on Saturday hiking at Buttermilk Falls State Park. We followed that with a trip to Ithaca to check out the shops on the pedestrian mall, which they call the “Commons”.

We had lunch at the “Ale House” followed by a couple of beers and a few games of pool at the “Chanti”. On the way back we stopped to see Taughannock Falls. We then headed back to the cottage for dinner and cards out on the porch.

On Sunday we went to the “Buttonwood Grove” for wine tasting it’s just down the road. They had live music on the patio with a great view of the Lake. Then back to the cottage for canoeing and paddle boats along with fishing off the dock.

On the way home on Monday we stopped at Three Brothers for a tasting and the we stopped at Ventosa Vineyard for lunch which was very good again with a nice view on the patio.

Janice was very accommodating and easy to work with. We had a great time and my sons and nephew are pushing me and my brother to commit to a return visit so I’m sure we will be back soon and we are looking forward to it.
