Welcome to the most beautiful Ranch in California! My wife and I are the Property Managers of this spectacular ranch and live in the Caretaker Cottage... close enough to help in every way... but you will rarely see us unless you call. We give groups all the privacy they need. Our service is reflected in our Yelp reviews. Please don't ever hesitate to call on us if we can help in anyway during your stay.
Tiffany Muncy purchased this estate in 1962
This ranch will feel like 'Yours' - you will be the only guests here. You will have exclusivity to the houses and grounds.
There is a lot of History here on this Ranch too. A wealthy business man built these houses in 1938. Mr. Hedgpeth invented and sold tools to Sears and Roebuck in Chicago.
Our Cattle Rancher - was born on this ranch 80 years ago - and his father managed the several hundred head of cattle before him. This is a 'working ranch'.
TOT No. 583N
Discover the many peaks, valleys and rivers. Picnic spots abound. Drive around the 50 acres vineyard and arrive at the 20 acre spring fed lake. We recently built a dock/pier... its a great place to swim. Feel free to bring your mountain bike too - there are miles and miles of trails.
We had a great multi-family playgroup vacation! Thanks for the memories! 13 kids and 16 grownups! : )
About 50 of us descended upon the Anvil Ranch in the hot summer sun to have my nieces wedding. All of the guests stayed at the inviting ranch for 3days of festivities. Tiffany, the ranch caretaker was amazingly accommodating and facilitated us having an amazing time! The rooms, although they don't afford much privacy, were clean and comfortable. The facilities were well stocked and organized and easy to maneuver through. The kitchen was nice size in the main house . We had caterers stay with us to make our meals and this was nice! The surroundings were beautiful. The area they have to preform the ceremony was possibly one of the most beautiful spots to do this that I have ever seen. There is not much nearby so you bring all you need but for us this was part of the allure. I would definitely come back! We are actually considering it for my sons wedding next year! There were no children at our event, however, it would have been fine if there were. Lots to do for entertainment.
About thirty of us, family and friends gathered at Anvil for the celebration of eight anniversaries (1974 for the earliest, 2010 the most recent) and the engagement party of my daughter and her fiance. Our weekend was the perfect blend of enjoyment, relaxation and stunning natural beauty. Though we were there in early November, the weather was sparkling with temperatures warm to cool. Moonlight scavenger hunt formthe children, daytime hiking, boating and hot tubbing for the adults and an epic night of Mexican boxcar dominoes were the highlights of our visit. Our first night we dined on the front lawn and danced in the courtyard while the full moon rose over the vineyard. The second we dined on Sam's signature pizzas from the wood burning oven in the vineyard itself. Shannon and Sam saw to every detail to insure a magical time for all our guests. The engaged couple have chosen Anvil for their wedding venue so we will return in November 2016.
From the fresh mountain air, the cloud filled valleys around the property in the early morning and the richness of the sunsets, Anvil is a treat for the senses. The guest house and the carriage house rooms were clean, comfortable and bright with thoughtful touches. The kitchen and dining areas are spacious. There are plenty of cosy little niches indoors and out for private moments and quiet conversation as well as plenty of big fun sites.
So many memories! I was fortunate enough to be able to hold my annual vacation with my best friends from college here. We have been meeting yearly for 11 years now and this trip was by far the best one yet. My only regret was that the trip wasn't long enough.
The private lake was awesome! Bring floaties and enjoy the sun and the surroundings. In fact one of the days down at the lake we saw a Bald Eagle. The Main and Guest House's were huge and we came with 18 people. There are so many large table for dinner we never had dinner in the same place twice. In fact for our final dinner we enjoyed the Dinner Table in the Little Vineyard. We had the heat lamps brought down there so it never got too cold. The strands of little lights really added to the beauty of an already picture perfect setting.
Make sure you bring enough food and drink for the trip. You don't want to have to make the 35-45 drive out to town more then once.
Princess, the property managers Dog was super friendly. She is a playful puppy about 2 years old. She played very well with the dog we brought which was a much smaller dog.
The Property Managers are a really great couple by the name of Sam and Shannon. They were so great, they really added to our experience. On the first day Shannon and Sam introduced them selves to us and were pretty much out of sight the rest of the trip unless we needed them. Sam was able to give us the historical significance of the property and the owner. They had a great understanding of the land and were very helpful with any questions and accommodating with any requests we had.
I would go back to Anvil Ranch in a second. Hopefully Sam and Shannon still work/live there.
I hosted my wedding at Anvil in October 2013. We picked Anvil because we wanted the freedom to create our own unique occasion, and the flexibility to stay somewhere longer with out of town guests. Anvil was perfect for us!
The property is absolutely beautiful, and my only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. We rented the entire property from Tuesday through Sunday for a Saturday afternoon wedding. As friends and family arrived in town, they joined us on the ranch for what turned into a week-long family reunion. All of my cousins shared the carriage house, which was a perfect spot for a big family! We stayed in the main house as did all of our parents, where we enjoyed beautiful views of the mountains.
All of our bridesmaids and groomsmen arrived mid-week. We got to spend several days together -- including a chilly swim in the lake (one of my favorite memories from the week)! I also loved just gathering in the main house kitchen and dining room for breakfast or lunch... just spending time together. We had a beautiful pizza dinner in the vineyard. We went for hikes and even shot skeet.
The Circle of Nature was a perfect place for the ceremony itself. Absolutely stunning views, to which very little decoration need be added. We used live strings players for music, and did hook up a sound system for our officiant and ourselves. We had about 140 guests, and we all fit very comfortably.
Sam & Shannon took amazing care of us. They worked so hard all week to ensure we had what we needed. They went way above and beyond the day of the ceremony to make sure everything was set up and good to go. Sam even brought in a friend to help us when we needed more hands for set-up and take down.
Anvil was such a great experience for us. My family and friends still thank me for a week they have called "so special, memorable, really a once in a lifetime experience."
Thank you Sam, Shannon, and Princess! We loved every minute.
We had an all women's weekend at Anvil with 40 of our closest friends. Best. Time. Ever! Facility and managers are superb. The grounds and buildings are amazing too. I can't wait to go back!
We found Anvil Ranch through a simple yelp search. My husband and I were looking for a remote and private location to belatedly celebrate our wedding. We wanted to be able to have friends and family stay on site, and be able to incorporate a lot of eating and outdoor activities into our weekend.
Anvil checked all the boxes. It's such a unique location, offering amazing views and an incredible amount of privacy. The staff who live on site (Sam, his lovely wife Shannon, and Jesus, the vineyard manager) are exceptionally friendly and were all super helpful, going above and beyond to help us pull off a packed weekend of festivities.
While it took a bit of extra planning to get caterers, rental supplies, and other vendors out to this remote location, there's no doubt we managed to have a very unique and memorable weekend. The wonderful emails from our friends and family about what a special weekend it was just have not stopped coming.
Thank you, Sam, for helping to make the weekend so special for us!
More than 60 vineyards in the Dry Creek Valley region, are within a 40 minute drive of the ranch. We also have a 'Demonstration Vineyard' steps from the Guest Houses. We have a large table in the middle of the vineyard, which is perfect for a dinner party.
