Beautifully Decorated/Renovated Lake Champlain Cottage - Fall Folliage Special

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,800 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, sleeps 8, dock house, garage

This professionally decorated, newly renovated, winterized Vermont cottage overlooks Lake Champlain and Adirondack State Park. Property includes a dock house with screened deck for viewing, cement pier with steps into lake, a mooring, a swim platform, a fire pit, and an over-sized natural sandbox for children. There are two large bedrooms (queen) and 'bunk room' with a play loft above. There is also a mudroom and a laundry room -- perfect for the outdoors family! The family room is focused around an original stone fireplace (complete with a fossil in the mantle). The eat-in gourmet kitchen flows out to an enclosed porch overlooking the lake. The property boasts an expensive cantilevered deck and recently completed 'dock house.' An outdoor shower is accessible off the largest full bathroom (double shower, and double sinks). This incredible property is walking distance from Basin Harbor Club and located in prime Vermont landscape (i.e., rolling fields with classic barns, dirt roads for the perfect bike ride or run).

Fantastic Gem Perched on the Lakeshore

  • 5 of 5

First: I wish every VRBO/Home Away owner was as thoughtful, considerate and forthright in their dealings. Very grateful for first rate communication!

Second: Wow! My family (2 adults and 4 teens) had an extraordinary time here. The house and deck are immaculate. Everything is clean, fully stocked and ready to go. There is literally nothing that isn't provided. The separate screened in eagle's nest porch overlooking the water is the perfect place to relax and watch the action down on the docks and sitting area below.

We rented a motorboat from Lake Champlain Boatworks for the week (about a 40 minute ride away). I highly recommend these folks if you're looking for a rental.

There are lots of things to do nearby in Vergennes and Middlebury but we spent the majority of our time just hanging out. The deck is beautiful and large. Ample seating to watch the sunsets and have a glass of wine to enjoy the day.

First rate in every respect. GO!

Amazing House

  • 5 of 5

My group stayed at this lovely home for the 4th of July weekend and could not have been more impressed. The renovation and decoration really have to be seen to be believed!

Surprisingly, the beautiful pictures do not do the house justice.

The deck is much larger than it appears, and we spent almost all of our time during the day there. It is the softest wood I've ever walked on, so flip flops or shoes are not required. With the large table outside (seats at least 8) you can eat every meal outside, and there is also a round table, and a coffee table out there.

The dock house is simply amazing. It is beautifully decorated, and a great place to lounge at night, or during the day. We watched the sun set from inside the dock house and with the breeze you'd think you were at the beach. Simply gorgeous at night!

The house is also fully stocked with all the toys you could want (kayak, goggles/masks, fishing rods, pool noodles, floats, etc.) We fished in the morning right off the dock and had a blast catching little perch and such. The dock is also fantastic for swimming. The water laps up on it just a few inches, so you can get right into the water. The floating dock is fun to lie out on, but I'd highly recommend taking the kayak across the lake to the NY side. There are no houses over there and the paddle is very manageable.

The inside of the house is also very comfortable and well-equipped. Full gourmet kitchen with huge sub-zero fridge and freezer, full gas range, oven, all the cooking utensils you could ever need, and enough space to be in there with several others. The kitchen was beautifully re-done!

The bedrooms are also great. The "master" faces out on to the lake, and although we had too much fun to watch much, it has a tv with cable. The master has a jack-and-jill bathroom connecting to the bunk room, which could surely fit 4 adults if necessary. The other queen bedroom is also a great size.

The couch in the living room is also the most comfortable thing you've ever sat on. We all took turns taking naps out there!

Overall, the house is just perfect. It is quiet, peaceful, fully up to date, and the best lake house I've seen.

The owners are also fantastic. They are very helpful and the house delivered much more than promised. I couldn't recommend it more.

Our cottage is located in a classic Vermont landscape, surrounded by dirt roads for biking, running, walking, and hiking and the Green Mountains. We are walking distance to a small family resort where tennis and golf are available for a fee. Vergennes is the closest village and offers several wonderful restaurants and coffee shops. Historic Middlebury and Shelburne (with museums and attractions) are very close. Very peaceful and classic Vermont getaway. Kayak, swim platform, and mooring available with rental.
