In my life, I have been very lucky to have been born in France, raised on the East coast of the US, being a certified teacher in New York for a few years and having spent the major part of my teaching career in a U.S. private school in France which offering an American education.
After my retirement, wanting to continue to have a small professional activity which would allow me to meet people, I decided to purchase renovate and rent the studio to visitors to Paris.
I chose this particular studio in this particular location because it is still very Parisien away from the bustle of the tourist trade and yet close enough to the heart of Paris to allow a visitor to Paris to discover the city on foot.
i just returned from a 10 day stay at the studio. I so enjoyed staying there as it is in a real neighborhood away from the tourist zone so you get to see how the Parisians live! A fantastic outdoor market is right down the street midweek and Sundays. there are plenty of food markets, shops, fantastic bakeries all very close. The Republique metro is a couple of blocks and there are local buses as well. However, it is a great neighborhood to explore on foot and one can walk for hours across Paris from here.the studio itself is warm, cozy, well decorated and very inviting. It is also spotless, has big widows and is very light and backs on to a green space so it is very quiet. The building is very secure and there is an elevator as well. the studio is very roomy with a full kitchen and bath. The bed is very comfortable!!!!
The owner Michael is a jewel. He is so kind, friendly and helpful. He is easy to reach as well. He enjoys people and it shows. i have nothing but praise for this studio and it's owner and i would stay there again and hope that i can someday!!!
I'd like to give Michael a special thanks for his fantastic hospitality and beautiful studio.
I was there for two stays in October and December of 2014: 5 nights the first stay and a week the 2nd stay.
Studio was very clean, everything worked well. The clothes washer was a bonus, especially on my 2nd visit when I had a pile of laundry.
Michael was very friendly and easy to contact. My plane arrived early my first visit and Michael made a point of cleaning the studio very early so I could move in way ahead of time. The 2nd visit Michael helped me with my luggage and with taxi calls. My french isn't the best so that was appreciated.
Studio was excellent. Nice size, very clean and everything works as described. Use of the computer there was appreciated.
Studio is very well secured in a nice neighbourhood. Keypad entry off street, elevator and secured door to studio. Just a 5 minute walk to Place de Republique stores and metro, yet a quiet location.
Thanks again Michael!! Will definitely see you again on my next return to Paris.
This studio is fantastic!!! I first stayed at this studio in 2011 and loved it. I recently booked a 2 week stay and again, loved it.....even more, due to the brand new very comfortable bed. :) It is well decorated, quiet, secure, well-ventilated/heated, and stocked with all the essentials needed to relax after a long day of sightseeing. It's a couple of blocks from the Republique metro station so you can get anywhere fast, however, if you are like me and would rather set out to explore Paris on foot, you will find lots of beauty, fun, adventure, markets, fantastic bakeries, unique stores, and restaurants from any direction of this studio. This visit, I found an awesome new breakfast/brunch/coffee place blocks from the studio called Holybelly in the 10e on Rue Lucien Sampaix - worth a visit! The owner Michael is incredibly charming, helpful, and reliable. I look forward to returning and booking this studio again soon. Merci beaucoup and A bientot! Thank you Michael!!!
This apartment is a gem. It is very close to everything, a short walk to the metro, bakeries, supermarkets, etc. The building is quiet and secure. The apartment is immaculate and well stocked with everything you might need. Michael was very friendly and helpful. We are looking forward to going back!
After walking for 30 days on the Camino and sharing rooms with up to 100 people, I was looking really forward to my own space. Michael's place was perfect. He met me at the apartment and was very organized in showing me all of the amenities. If and when I return to Paris, I will definately stay here again. It has everything you need and super super clean. Very close to the metro and a nice mellow walk along the canal. Thanks Michael!
I spent one week (October 27-November 3) in Michael's wonderful apartment. It was very clean, nicely set up, comfortable, and very quiet. The wi-fi and all the appliances worked great.
The location was wonderful. It was very close to the Republic Metro. The neighborhood had a lot of nice restaurants, markets, and had a very nice feel to it. It was great to be living in an area of Paris with no tourists, but it was easy to get to all areas of Paris from this location.
Michael answered all my emails promptly. He met me at the apartment to show me around and was readily available if I had any problems. There were no problems whatsoever. He was very accommodating and professional.
I would highly recommend this apartment. It is an excellent value for Paris in a wonderful location.
After many years of architectural renovation, Place de la République and the area near the Canal Saint Martin have once again found the charm they possessed in the 19th century. The area, because of its typical Parisian atmosphere, the bucolic surroundings of the Canal Saint Martin and the pleasant night life of the neighborhood, is one of the most popular areas of Parisians among all age groups. On Sundays, the streets along the open portion of the canal are closed to vehicular traffic allowing the streets to be used for strolling, bicycle riding or skating. Since the renovation of the Canal a few years ago, a multitude of shops, cafés and small restaurants have opened. In close proximity (300 yards), is the Place de la République, the second largest square in Paris. Due to its size and geographic disposition, Place de la République, which has been renovated into a pedestrian zone, is served by five metro lines and a large number of public transportation buses going in all directions of Paris. The Marais, an old historical area of Paris is on the south and East side of Place de la République. To the west of the square is the area called 'Grands Boulevards'. The area around the studio is rather busy at all times, well lighted at night and safe. Numerous stores, shops and restaurants are close by for all your daily shopping needs. For those who enjoy open air markets, within walking distance, are two large markets on Boulevard Jules Ferry (Popopincourt and Bastille)
Other Activities: Boat excursions on the Canal Saint Martin and the Seine.
