About Jean Strock
We love to share this wonderful spot with our visitors. Getting the property ready for rental has been a multi-generational undertaking. We are always interested in suggestions on how we can make our visitors' time in Sailor's Rest even better.

What makes this Cottage unique
Watching the weather change and the tides come and go is somehow extremely relaxing. But when you are ready to be a tourist there are endless outing possibilities from a day in Boothbay or Camden to a walk on the rocks. The area has all sorts of peninsulas and villages to explore....all with beautiful settings. Be sure to take drives and discover the beauty of our area. Or explore our islands from your kayak.

A Lovely and Comfortable Place
Our family just spent a really terrific week at Sailor's Rest. The place was just as depicted, though the previous tenants did not appear to address all the items on the cleanliness checklist. The cool breezes were great, and the views out the front windows were really terrific. And despite being in a somewhat tight immediate neighborhood it was really, really quiet and relaxing. The water is--honest to God--right there outside the door. Direct access from the property for a kayak or SUP is a little bit tricky unless the tide is close to high, but there is good public access just around the block (just a bit far to carry to without driving, but really close all the same). We are a family of four, with two teenage daughters, and the house was a good size for us; we didn't even need to use one of the bedrooms upstairs. Nice big, clean bathroom. The older smoke/CO coverage needed updating, which as a firefighter I always harp on (as any renter should, I think), but I hope the owners will address that. Holbrooks down the road was a great place to eat and hang out--very friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend Sailor's Rest and Cundy's Harbor. We appreciated the opportunity to stay there, and we're thankful for our good fortune in finding the place.
Sailors Rest, Harpswell ME
Our week long stay at Sailors Rest was so special! It was just perfect and the views of the water, the small surrounding islands, the various different birds (Ducks, Geese, Osprey, Eagles, Seagulls , loons etc..), the seals playing in the water, and watching the lobster boats were just spectacular. Oh and the sunrises and sunsets were incredible.
The home had everything we needed along with great outdoor chairs, picnic table and grill for our use. Jean even has a very large organized book of places to eat, sights to visit and activities in the area. This was so helpful and much appreciated.
The home sits right on the coast and the porch is lined with windows for amazing views.
The area around this beautiful home is definitely a true quintessential Maine experience. The surrounding towns that we visited were all historical in some way. We loved Harpswell, Orr’s Island, Baileys Island, Phippsburg. Pemaquid, Booth Bay Harbor, Wiscasset and Bristol!
The seafood is amazing! If you don’t mind the wait, Red’s Eats in Wiscasset has by far the best lobster roll in Maine! So worth the wait.
My Mom and I thoroughly enjoyed Sailors Rest for our week in Maine.
Thank you again to the Strock family for sharing your piece of paradise with my Mom and I😊. It is a trip that we will always treasure.
Relaxation in Cundy's Harbor
What an amazing place! So quiet, cozy and relaxing overlooking the water and islands in the distance. The VIEW is one of the best I've ever seen -- 180 degrees. We saw ospreys and bald eagles every day! Stargazing was wonderful! The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you might need. My favorite part was sipping my morning coffee while watching the lobster boats putter in the harbor. I'm already dreaming of next summer's vacation!
Peaceful and relaxing!!
It was easy to rent, easy to find, very comfortable house, water views from all windows--peaceful and relaxing.
My family of 6 just returned from a week at Sailor's Rest. The accomodations were comfortable and just right for us. Our kids had fun catching crabs on the rocks right outside the cottage. All of us enjoyed watching the lobster boats and waterfowl. We finally saw some seals our last morning! Just an overall pleasure and a great homebase for taking daytrips in the area.
Beautiful Setting at Cundy’s Harbor
Last year, I stayed at Sailor’s Rest with some friends and liked it so much I brought my husband back this year.
The setting is just spectacular. Lobster boats, wildlife, fog, sunrises and sunsets are all part of this wonderful experience.
The home is comfortable, clean, and fully equipped, with plenty of room, inside and out, to relax.
Jean and Harry were excellent hosts. They provided a great deal of information on things to do in the area. When we had a minor problem with the tv, they were very helpful in resolving the issue.
We look forward to our next visit!
When you have relaxed and enjoyed our views there are lots of day-trip opportunities: Camden, Bath, Wiscasset, Boothbay, Portland, and all of Casco Bay. 25 minutes to L.L. Bean (Freeport). A variety of seafood and other restaurants are 5-30 minutes away, many in picturesque locations. Right in Cundy's Harbor you can enjoy our local Holbrook Wharf Restaurant, a gift shop, photography gallery, and two small general stores.
