About this property

Farmhouse Cottage

Welcome to our 125 year old, remodeled farmhouse. This adorable farmhouse has all new amenities: kitchen, 2.5 baths, laundry room, carpet & plank flooring, paint, appliances, etc. Even though the home has been updated, we maintained most of the original farmhouse charm and the cozy cottage feel. This home is near the end of a cul-de-sac road and sits atop a hill with beautiful views of Little Bass Lake. There is no public access or launch to the lake so it stays pretty quiet. There are 3 kayaks as well as a paddle board available for use. The large stone fire-pit that overlooks the water is perfect for bonfires and roasting marshmallows! Metal roasting sticks are available in the garage. There is firewood onsite for purchase in the garage, courtesy of the neighbor.

Go remote and get away from it all! The home is close to the trails, perfect for four-wheeling, ORV riding, and snowmobiling so bring your toys! Go hunting or simply enjoy the trails. Walking/Bike trails are just across the street from our road. It is federal land for your enjoyment! Approximately thirty minutes to the Little River Casino, Crystal Mountain Ski & Golf Resort (they also have a Spa), Caberfae Peaks Ski area, Ludington, Manistee, and Cadillac. One hour from Traverse City.

Baldwin is approximately 30 minutes away. Fish the Pere Marquette River - one of the best fishing rivers in all of the Midwest. Baldwin Canoe & Tube Rental is also in town and a lot of fun. They also have kayaks and rafts available. Magoon Creek Park is 25 minutes away which is on Lake Michigan and has spectacular views! Walk the short trail to the lake to swim & play!

This farmhouse cottage is what going up north is all about - Remote, cozy, rest & relaxation! Little Bass Lake is 65 acres and has some of the cleanest water you will ever see. Over 10+ natural springs make this lake clean, cool, and provides great fishing! Big Bass Lake (290 acres) is accessible via Kayak through the small channel on the far southwest side of the lake. We do have a sandy shore with a dock. The beach area looks like Caribbean waters and you can swim here but swimming is best further out due to the marl (decomposed limestone) bottom/footing. We are working hard to try to make this better but it is going to take some time. We do provide a few blow-up tubes and rafts so that you can swim further out (located in the garage). There are also some life jackets available. Swim at your own risk as there is no lifeguard on duty.

We have a game cabinet for rainy days and/or evenings as well as some outdoor games. Outdoor games include the Washer Game, Giant Jenga, Croquet, Frisbee, Ladder Ball, Horseshoes, & Wiffle Ball. Inside, on the back porch, there is an entire cabinet full of games and puzzles. Some of the games include Uno, Monopoly, Sequence, Twister, Sorry, Connect Four, Checkers, Chess, Cribbage, Dominoes, Trivial Pursuit, several decks of playing cards, dice, and more!

Maximum number of guests is 6 people total in the winter months and 8 people total in the summer months. This is due to no heat upstairs. We do have window unit a/c for the summer. Your total amount of guests = adults + children combined. We do strictly enforce this rule due to previous experiences. We are sorry that we have to do this. We reserve the right to terminate your stay early without a refund and charge for additional people if this rule is not adhered to. Please be sure to read the rental agreement that is automatically sent to you once you book to review this policy & other rules in more detail. Exterior Ring security cameras in place.

Family vacation
Very nice property. Super clean and nicely decorated. Well equipped with most everything we needed. We were disappointed the channel connecting to the bigger lake was impassable via our kayaks so we were limited to just the small lake. The lake was very quiet during the day and night. We used boats, rafts, etc to avoid the muddy bottom by the shore. As in the description, it is not a clean sandy bottom. The upstairs air conditioner is pretty loud so we had to turn it off every night. Fortunately the weather allowed us to do so. Many comforts are provided for your enjoyment and we had a great time. The conversation has already begun about our next vacation because this one was such a success.

Wonderful Lake Home
We just returned from a wonder week at this lake house. The house we VERY nice and well maintained. We cooked several meals at the house and lacked nothing. We have ZERO complaints with the house. The lake.......ahhhhhhhhh. We thoroughly enjoyed the lake. The kayaks were perfect and we took full advantage of them. The girls also really liked the paddle board. I was able to fish several times and loved being out on the water ***the original listing indicated there was a peddleboat but there is no such offering at this home. This was our first vacation trip to Michigan and there is soooooo much we liked about it. The only negative is that this home is pretty remote which created some issues with Wifi and the fact that there is pretty much nothing in the general proximity of this home. We took several day trips (Ludington, Macinaw Islan, etc).....but they were just that....full day trips. Again...this property is SUPER nice. I think we will visit Michigan again sometime in the future but it will have to be a location that offers points of interest, resturants, etc that are closer to more populated areas.

Perfect Family Vaca Spot
The home was well kept with many kitchen utensils to use for our family dinners. Jennifer was a great, responsive host. The lake was easily accessible and the kayaks were a nice touch. Everyone liked relaxing around the campfire and gazing at the stars. Our family will chat about these memories for years to come!

Relaxing Family Vacation
We enjoyed our stay at the house. It has all the comforts of home. There is wood for sale in the garage (honor system) so no sense hauling wood up there for the fire pit (like we did). The kids and grandkids fished off the dock and tried out the kayaks. The water is so clear! We saw deer, turkeys, hummingbirds and even a bald eagle. It was so relaxing and made for the perfect get away for our family. The host is great with communication and responds quickly. Definitely a 5 star from us!
