My husband and I are professional, lifelong writers. We have homes in New York and Los Angeles. We have 3 grown children who live in New York City. I am also the director of a non-profit in upstate New York which trains veterans in sustainable farming.
Leora purchased this townhome in 2003
We are longtime New Yorkers. We love the city. Since we moved to Chelsea over 20 years ago, the galleries have flourished, the High Line was built, the new Whitney just moved in, and the neighborhood has become ever more highly sought after.
There is absolutely no better place from which to get around the city and enjoy the unparalleled quality of cultural life it has to offer: art galleries, museums, music of all kinds, theater, film, dance, live comedy, just about anything you can think of. What we like best apart from the art life, is just walking the streets of New York, where 8 million people from every conceivable background and visitors from all over the world, live and work and create together in peace and harmony.
We had a wonderful staying in this great NYC townhouse.... We will for sure plan to go back again....
You will not find a better place to stay! Fantastic owners - Leora was very helpful with all my questions, and had lots of neighborhood recommendations. The house itself is beautiful - four floors, lots of space, great back-yard, BBQ. Location is fantastic. No issues at all - this is the perfect house (I wish I lived in it!) Highly recommended!
Amazing, incredible ! We passed one week in August, 2011, in this wonderful house ... one week of happiness ! The weather was warm in NYC and it was a pleasure to benefit of the fresh and restful garden. For the lovers of mid-century decoration, it is the "place to be" : furniture of the 50s and ethnic objects mixed with style and chic. Concerning the equipment, everything was new, in perfect working order and functional. To conclude, it is a dream house in which we feel very well immediately. Probably, this is also due to the great great kindness of the owners. As we say in France, la classe !
This is a beautiful home in which we were made to feel very welcome when we stayed with our three teenage children. The house is so central that we could walk down to Greenwich or up to Midtown, and we loved its proximity to the restaurants around Union Square. But the area also felt very residential, and the house astonishingly quiet, and we loved returning every night to this oasis in the city. The owners were very easy to deal with, communications were excellent, and they had left the house generously equipped, with everything from plentiful toiletries to olive oil beside the cooker. Highly recommended in every way.
Our family spent 10 days here in NYC recently for our August wedding. Because they are not from the states we wanted to make sure they felt completely at home here. This townhouse was more than we could ever ask. Its a beautiful spot close to tourist sites, supermarkets and trains. A jackpot for anyone coming to visit NYC. The large kitchen was wonderful for cooking dinner with the family. The outside garden in the back was so quiet and pretty that I almost forgot we were in NYC. I know our family would rent this place again in a heartbeat. Thanks so much, Lauren and Guillaume
My wife, her mother and our two boys spent a week in this townhouse/brownstone this past summer and I cannot say enough good things about it. It's a lovely quiet block in Chelsea (which if you don't already know NYC is a great neighborhood with cool galleries, restaurants, bars and stores nearby) and the home itself exceeded all of your expectations. It's huge, which is unique enough in NYC, with a great room kitchen/dining area and a lovely living room that overlooks a beautifully landscaped backyard. Everything was exactly as promised and the owners were easy to deal with. The bedrooms were spacious and the bathrooms were very clean with modern fixtures. The bonus TV room and yoga space were great to just relax in and also face the back garden area. We would go back - and hope to - without hesitation. Highly recommend.
Chelsea is just north of the West Village (Greewich Village) in upper downtown Manhattan. Walk to the wonderful Chelsea High Line. Easy ride to Lincoln Center, theater district, downtown music and theater and museums. A whole world class city and its cultural offerings within easy reach!
