This recently renovated and fully furnished, 4 bedroom/4 bath Federal Era luxury home has a great in-town location, within an easy 3 block walk to downtown Portsmouth. The entire home has been refurbished including refinishing of the original hardwood floors, new wall treatments, modernized bathrooms, new electrical and lighting, new central heating/air conditioning, central vacuum, and more. The remainder of the first floor includes a formal dining room, sunroom, and living room with gas fireplace. The 15 by 30 foot modern kitchen and eating/lounging area contains includes new appliances, full and extensive granite counters, custom hardwood cabinets, and maple flooring. The kitchen opens onto a large deck with plenty of chairs and a gas grill.
The entrance foyer opens into a central open area that contains a beautiful stairway to a similarly open central area on the second floor. The four bedrooms, including one with a fireplace, are located on the second floor along with 2 full baths.
Beyond this there is a neat and cozy 20 by 30 foot TV, game and play area located in the basement. This very comfortable space has natural stone walls with carpeting, built-in bookcases and more. A laundry area and bathroom are also located in the basement.
This home is within an easy walk (five minutes) to historic downtown Portsmouth with its numerous shops, sidewalk cafes, and restaurants. Prescott Park, home of outdoor summer theater and other shows, and the Strawberry Bank historic site are just down the street. The active seaport, complete with picturesque tugboats, lobster and fishing boats, numerous restaurants, and festive watering holes built on piers over the water, is a favorite area for residents and tourists alike.
Portsmouth was settled in 1623 and is the nations third-oldest city. The city was a major seaport well into the late 1800's. The location, history, and cultural strength of the area make Portsmouth a frequently cited - best place to live - city.
The city boasts far more than its share of a diverse selection of fine restaurants as well as other amenities. It is a popular tourist attraction, both day and night, during all seasons. It is a place where you are pulled to enjoy fine dining, theater, and stroll the streets. You will enjoy checking out the waterfront with its tugboats and commercial fishing pier as well as visiting the many shops day or evening. A favorite evening pastime is music at one of the local lounges or coffee at a sidewalk cafe in the beautiful town square.
If you chose to use your vehicle there are a number of attractions nearby including several ocean beaches and parks, water parks, golf courses, movie theaters, and more. For those who want to shop, the well-known outlet malls in Kittery, Maine are just five miles from Portsmouth.

Recently retired university professor. This is our primarly home and our pride and joy.
Sue and I worked hard to find this property. We wanted something in Portsmouth that had real character, and that was close to, but not right in the middle of, downtown. This place does it all for us. Nearly daily we walk through town in the early morning and stop for a coffee at one of the sidewalk cafes (or sometimes walk across the new bridge to Kittery, ME). We frequently go for a stroll through town in the evening and have a dinner out or catch a show at the historic Music Hall (a must see!) which is only 3 blocks from us. And by car, the Maine and NH coasts are very easy to access via our location.
The location is a tremendous benefit. Beyond that, and as important, this home has a unique character. It is over 100 years old and was built with superior craftsmanship. This is our primary residence and our pride and joy. Beyond the very nice furniture and fixtures, it has the wall coverings, art work and other sorts of special things that make up a cherished home.
My wife and 3 adult kids thoroughly enjoyed our two weeks at this property. The location is fantastic and the home itself was great. The home has many features that we really enjoyed. Bill was a pleasure to communicate with and made time to meet with us at the house a few weeks prior to our rental period.

We were here with 3 adult children for wedding of another at the Wentworth. Knowing that 20 somethings would want to go to after parties in town we chose this location so that all late travel would be on foot.. Instead of living out of hotel rooms we were able to be together in a lovely house. Mornings were "hang out in the beautiful kitchen" as we made breakfast and coffee. It was great to have a base of operations. Thank you for lovely time!
This house is a charming old New Engand home with modern updates. The home is very clean and has all the amenities for a perfect stay. The location is ideal to see all Portsmouth has to offer. Great Restaurants within walking distance. The owner was very accommodating as well. We will definitely recommend this property to friends and family!!
Our home is situated in an ideal location for accessing all that Portsmouth has to offer. We are within an easy walk of a myriad of shops, cafes, pubs, restaurants, the harbor and decks, the historic Music Hall with live performances as well as movies, Prescott Park with outdoor summer theater and shows, Strawberry Banke historic community (and many other historic sites) a outdoor pool, and much more. A 5 minute drive gets you to New Castle Commons which has a small beach at the mouth of the harbor as well as a great picnic area and playground. Fifteen minutes by car gets you to the larger NH beaches and 30 minutes gets you to some great Maine beaches.
