In determining the rental rate, I studied all the oceanfront, two bedrooms villas in Wild Dunes. Because this is a new listing I knew I would have to make the rate very attractive. After spending six hours studying all the villas on VRBO, I realized rates varied all over the place as did the idea of when a season started/ended. But the thing that really drove me crazy was the add on charges. Why didn’t the owner say this is the total price including everything? Surely a potential renter would much prefer the simpler approach. In your search, if you find a better rate, give me a chance to beat it. I will need the web link to the other property to make sure it is an ‘apple to apple’ comparison.
Because I own resort rental property I am not often in the market to search VRBO for places to rent. Awhile back I found myself doing just that. It was interesting to see me gravitate right to the pictures first. I was reminded that ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’. My name is Peter Cole, and I am the owner’s representative. I went to the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. Presently live in Davidson, just outside of Charlotte, NC. I wear many hats: an oceanfront, resort, rental condo owner; property manager; rental agent; dog tender (That is Mazie in the picture. Spends most of her day on the rug by me at my desk.) and my favorite; loving husband to the beautiful woman in the picture with me. As a Medicare card carrying senior, I look back over a full life. My chosen life ‘occupation’ (my Mother could never bring herself to call it a 'job') was to take teens on a cross country camping trip; 3000 teens in all, spanning 33 years. My friends and relatives worried about my having too much time on my hands in retirement so they gave me their resort properties to manage. My reputation as a good manager/agent grew. Beach and pool at your finger tips. Within the gated community of Wild Dunes Resort. Charleston less than thirty minutes away.
Our family of four adults had a wonderful week. Dealing with the agent was easy--his replies were prompt, the pictures and video were informative. Late pickup was easy to arrange. Even in the very hot week we visited, the ocean breezes and the pool allowed an escape from the 90 degree heat.
Pleasant surprises: The grocery store is less than 5 miles away and selection is good.
We enjoyed several local restaurants.
The island has Uber service.
The kitchen had lots of pots, pans, glassware and dishes.
There are noodles and beach chairs.
The pool and beach are VERY close.
This unit is on our "do again" list.
Property was as pictured, clean and well maintained. We enjoyed our stay very much. From the master bedroom you can hear the sound of the ocean to lull you to sleep, and see the sunrise to wake you up.
(One small problem: there is a broken screen door which needs to be repaired; we were told owner is aware and will take care of it.)
We enjoyed our time at this condo very much. The view is even better in person. We would rent again! Wish we were back now actually!
This condo was the perfect size for our family of 5. We were right off the beach, just as we wanted. The condo was very clean when we arrived, although the bathrooms seem a bit dated, therefore don't feel quite as clean. The space worked wonderfully, and the washer and dryer were a huge plus! It really felt like home and offered everything we needed for our week stay - nice, bright and sunny! My only real issue was the front door situation. There is no deadbolt and the door nob only feels locked from the outside, meaning it can always be opened easily from the inside. With 3 small children, this was a major concern. We decided to park our double stroller with locked wheels in front of the door to keep the kids from getting out. We did have a couple of maintenance issues (light in kitchen went out, no broom) which were addressed in a timely manner. The people at Resort Quest were VERY friendly, and very easy to work with. We also chose to rent baby gear (stroller, pack n' play and high chair) from a company called Baby's Away. That was also a HUGE added bonus and worked out perfectly. I highly recommend renting from them, they deliver the items to the condo so they are there when you arrive, and they pick them up after you depart. Super easy! Another thing I loved about the condo was the fact that it was nice and quiet. The floors didn't creak so I wasn't worried we were bothering anyone below us, and we never heard any of our neighbors above us or through the walls. This really was such a great stay for our family! My wife and I had a great time during our stay. The condo was clean and well-equipped within sight and sound of the ocean, with the convenience of a pool directly below us. The place was ideal for relaxing and enjoying the beach as well as quick access to Charleston's historic downtown.
204 Summer House was a well equipped, comfortable unit with a great location near the beach. We enjoyed the great biking Wild Dunes has to offer and rented bikes for the week. The unit is an older unit, but is well-maintained and well-appointed.
The shower is a tub shower which may be difficult for some.
Golf: Two great ones right at your finger tips, one across the street. In closing I hope you will take a moment and read the following comments of past renters.
