About John & Lynda Hunt
The only entrance to the castle is Sauvola Drive which is off Able Road in Rindge, NH close to the Rindge/Fitzwillaim town line. Google has Hunt Castle at 1000 Sauvola DR.There is a designated Castle Beach marked specifically for you. This home is our primary residence. Our children grew up in this home and now return to visit with their families. Construction began in the fall 1993 and finished in 1995. John's love of Castles began when he was a young child and grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennslyvania. As an adult he found this beautiful 500+ acreage of land quite by accident in the woods of New Hampshire. The plans to build this home began after much travel throughout, Europe exploring other castles. Today, after our five children have grown up and left this wonderful home, they continue to return to this gorgeous property to come together as a quite large extended family. We continue to celebrate many of the holidays here with our family and have now opened it up to you so that you may enjoy it as much as we do.
John & Lynda Hunt purchased this Castle in 1995
Why John & Lynda Hunt chose Rindge
The Cathedreal of the Pines is a must see located in Rindge 5 minutes away with beautiful gardens; a historical landmark you would not want to miss. In less than 30 minutes, one can venture to Mount Monadnock, the most climbed mountain in the world. For the first time climbers, Pack Monadnock , only 25 minutes drive (across from Temple Mountain), is also a great family climb for those who have younger children. The views are spectacular. The town of Fitzwilliam, approximately 10 minutes away, is famous for it's Antiques. The town of Peterborough ( approximately 20 minute drive or less) well known for the 'Peterborough Players' theatre house, was also the setting for the well known play 'Our Town'. It also has many cozy shops and wonderful restaurants. The bustling city of Keene is great for window shopping, fine dining, and entertainment. The Colonial Theatre in Keene, features plays with some well know actors, singers and comedians and is located on Main St. Twinkle Town miniature golf can also be enjoyed by all and is located between the towns of Rindge and Keene approximately 15 minutes away. Also, there are many lakes and state parks that are close by (not more than 20 minutes drive) for a great beach day.

“Shift your expectations up a couple of notches.”
My son arrived before me and these were the words with which he greeted me. He was right.
We were there — all 22 of our immediate family — to celebrate two births and birthdays. Three generations who ranged in age from 70 to three months, including children from 3-10. No-one got bored.
Two little princesses found the dressing up box in the upstairs play room immediately, all of the children wallowed in the lake, the pool and the hot tub. We had family kickball, corn hole tournaments, races, walks, fishing, ping pong, poker, cards, jigsaw puzzles...something for everyone every minute.
The kitchens were amazing, making it easy to cater for so many, the rooms were clean and beautiful and the children loved sleeping in the upstairs “dormitory.” The secret passages amazed them and made for hours of good fun.
Mike and Mike were friendly and helpful — even inflated a flat tire for us!
We had the time of our lives.
Many thanks !
Amazing once in a lifetime vacation
All I can say is take all the other reviews of the castle and multiply by 100 and you know how we all felt about this vacation . Weather was perfect. Everything you could need is there. Very clean This is a vacation we will never forget
Enjoyed a Summer Vacation in Hunt Castle
Great family vacation. Property manager was great and responsive. Thanks to John & Lynda Hunt for making their home available.
Amazing Castle (Aka CassTell to our kids) July 2020
This is an amazing place. Hosts are responsive and Mike & Mike the caretakers are great(they even dug up worms!) Would return with our 8adults/8kids.
-Getting there: Definitely use the directions they provide you prior to check-in. We found GPS did best setting the 8 Savula road address in the directions and then follow the dirt driveway from there.
-TheGrounds: As advertised it's 500+ acres of trails, large backyard grass area, great Beach area etc. Tip: the neighbors use one of the driveways on property to access their own small beach. There are also neighbors that will walk their dogs etc right across the backyard because of where the trails cross. No issue at all just don't be surprised. The pool is small but fine.
-TheBeach: Much bigger then we expected. About 4single kayaks, 3standup boards, 1 canoe, 1double kayak, 3 paddle boats . Beach has rods / chairs/ toys / portapotty. Tip: There is a large snake that we met. No biggie. The walk back to the castle is uphill and gets rather lengthy after a few trips - use a car ;-).
-Basement aka Fungeon, pingpong, pooltable, fuseball, card table, bar, darts, bathroom all as advertised. Good place to send kids early am to not wakeup the house.
-Mainlevel - there is no AC on this level and there are some fans they have setup to move air around. Our trip ran 78-88 degrees and was not a challenge except for kitchen area which did get very warm after cooking. Level is half fancy half casual.
-Beds: main level is the library with a full bed, no AC here and has pocket doors no lock. We had a teenage girl stay here with no issue. As you go up the main steps there is a bed room directly in front of you that has queen / private bathroom. Turn left at top of steps is master suite which has a small bedroom with it's own door which we used for 2 kids, further into suite behind another door is King bed / bathroom. Note bathroom has a secret door with no lock really needs it. Turn right at steps and you find a suite of 3 rooms all together - one of these is the former TV room and you have to pass through it to leave the other bedrooms, we didn't use this one. Top level is a private bedroom, and 3 beds in the ballroom (open area not private) and then the playroom has a locking door and another bed.
-Passages: there are many, kids will love them. Shh secret.
Mommy Tips- bring radios place is huge. TONS of toys there, no need to bring more. ATT only works outside house and spotty. WiFi ok.
We thank Pat for giving such a detail description and we will be putting in an air conditioner in the kitchen this Fall and will be there for the Summer of 2020. As to the locks on the sliding door, they are there but the key has been removed and in the future we will let renters know that the key is available upon request much like we do for the piano. The castle does have a business phone system in which you can page almost any room, so you really do not need to bring radios.

Perfect for Large Groups / Young Families
The Castle was perfect for our large group of 7 families (14 adults + 11 children aged 1.5 to 8.5) .
The house was large enough to comfortably sleep all of us with room to spare.
The hot tub, pool, beach, watercraft, giant field, toys, disc golf club and game room in basement kept us entertained for a full week - we didn’t need to leave the property at all - except for one local hike.
The house is fully stocked with plenty of towels, beach chairs, out door toys, indoor toys etc. for a large group - all you need to bring is clothes, food, and sun lotion / bug spray.
The fire pit comes fully stocked with dry wood to burn as well.
We weren’t sure if the castle would be tacky or cool - it was simply amazing. There are secret doors and passages that just add to the effect. The sunset from the top of the castle tower is beautiful.
The kids loved the trampoline in the giant play space for the kids upstairs. The playscape outside got plenty of use too.
The only minor concern is the lower level can get a little hot on a hot / humid day as there is no AC on that level - and using the kitchen heats up the area. This was not a big deal for our group - as the weather was nice for the majority of the trip.
We will definitely come back.
A fabulous place for a family reunion!
The Hunt Castle was endless fun! Everyone had a fabulous time, from grandparents to toddlers. It's extremely spacious, even for 21 of us, and very clean. Staff checked in on us daily, and were never more than a phone call away. The pool, the hot tub, and the lake were very popular, but hardly the only activities. Each night the grownups found something different to do, and our children learned a lot about independence in the very spacious kids' bedroom and playroom, Never a dull moment!
The only entrance to the castle is Sauvola Drive in Rindge, NH which is off Able Road near the Rindge/Fitzwillam town line.
