About Brant Mackley

Growing up in Central Pennsylvania, Hershey Park was an annual event as a child. The park has grown and become a 'must-visit' attraction, along with many other points of interest in this bucolic setting. Unfortunately, there are very few well-appointed rental homes in this area and I felt I could offer visitors an upscale experience, such as can be found if you visit Santa Fe, the Adirondacks or the vineyards of the Pacific Northwest. I am pleased to be able to offer the charm and comforts of The Travelers' Post. Located next to my art gallery, the house has wonderful historic character and and I have personally selected antiques, artwork, textiles to complement the spaces and create inspiring world decor.

Why Brant Mackley chose Pennsylvania Dutch Country

This property has an outstanding location; it is the closest rental house available to Hershey Park and nearby attractions. Just a short walk down the road is the village park with swings and a slide for children and the Swatara Creek. You can swim or fish in the the 'Swatty' or rental kayaks or a canoe. The garden and terrace offer such a beautiful, private setting for family entertaining.

Girls Weekend Away in Hershey

  • 5 of 5

There were six of us total and there was plenty of room. Kitchen was fantastic, with a beautiful stove and wonderful dishwasher. Lots of plates and pans - didn't have to bring a thing but food to make great dinners. The house was so clean. There were three bathrooms, all very clean. The entire house has been updated and is very relaxing to stay in. It is also very close to the Hershey Spa!

Quaint duplex

  • 3 of 5

This quaint duplex is close to the Hershey attractions. There are plenty of nice extras which you would not expect in a rental property (spices in the kitchen, many paper products in the kitchen and bath). Also the beds are very comfortable.

We had a few issues with finalizing the house entry details. We were not contacted with the house code until a few hours before we were to arrive, although we had tried calling a number of times during the week before our trip.

Some of the pots and pans were dirty, and there was food left in the refrigerator.

Also we didn't realize that the hot tub and sauna were in a common backyard area.

Overall, we had a nice vacation, though, and were very thankful to be close to the Hershey Lodge, where we attended a Family Life Weekend to Remember event, and to a local church, where we met with fellow Christians.

Owner's Response: We never received a call from guest until the morning of his stay and he received a prompt reply. The rear terrace is for use exclusively by guests of the Travelers Post; my office is in the adjoining townhouse so his statement that other tenants have access is completely false. The terrace is very private and no one else uses it. Guest saw me in the rear testing the hot tub water chemistry and just assumed I was somebody in the back using the hot tub?! Guest complained about condiments left in refrigerator. Very problematic renter, homeowners beware!

Absolutely beautiful

  • 5 of 5

This property is absolutely beautiful. It was homecoming weekend at my school and we wanted to be somewhere convenient and comfortable. There were 4 of us total. The Traveler's Post was the perfect place to stay. Close to everything, fully equipped, extremely clean, and best of all, Brant is great! I did not have any concerns, but he was available if I needed him. I honestly have nothing bad to say. We will definitely be returning to the traveler's post for our next stay.

Absolutely adorable

  • 5 of 5

We loved this little house. It could not have been any more perfect for our needs. We spent 2 days at Hershey Park and 3 days at this house. The park was so close, I am sure we could have walked it. The house it's self was beautifully decorated. It definitely had a historic feel, but the kitchen and bathrooms were modern and new. We used the hot tub, and it was a nice way to end the day after hiking all around Hershey. The outdoor space was lovely, though we could not find the seat cushions. I read a book on the front, covered porch early one morning. Our teenage boys were delighted to find a gaming console. The kitchen was well stocked and had all the basics that we needed. I would absolutely stay here again.

Great stay!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here with my 4 young kids on our recent trip to Hershey. We previously lived in the area and were coming back to visit and wanted our own base from which we could visit our old friends and favorite places. We loved this house. It was very clean and charming. It is in a quiet location but very close to all there is in Hershey.

I was impressed by all the little extras that were in the house that are often missing in rental properties, from extra toilet paper to a step so little ones could reach the sink!

It is a small house but certainly gives more space than hotel rooms and the kitchen made me wish I was cooking more during our stay!

Thank you . We certainly hope to be back.

Our second stay just as amazing as the First!

  • 5 of 5

A little over a year ago we discovered Traveler's Post and booked it for our 2014 trip to Hershey for the PIAA State High School Wrestling Championships - an event our family has been attending for decades. With two bedrooms and two and one-half baths it was perfect for the four of us - my husband and I, sister and mom. Soon after we returned from that first visit, we reserved Traveler's Post for our 2015 trip.

The house is lovely and meticulously clean. The kitchen, dining and living room are open plan in the downstairs and provide lots of space plus everything you need for cooking a meal or getting a snack. TV, internet access, video games (great for guests with children) are provided. The appliances and furniture are high end - the bathrooms are wonderful with heated towel racks....so yummy in March with wind and snow blowing outside. It is obvious that the owner, Brant, has an eye for detail - interesting art and decorating make a stay here an experience, not just a place to sleep!

The house is about a mile from the Giant Center. It is so wonderful not to fight our way through heavy traffic in downtown Hershey to make our way to the venue as we did for so many years.

The Union Canal restaurant is across the street from Traveler's Post and we make it a point to enjoy at least one meal there. Good food, great atmosphere and a few steps and back "home" for the night.

We loved both stays and have reserved it for next year's event. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone contemplating a visit to Hershey - you can't go wrong with Traveler's Post - for comfort, convenience and a general all-around good time. A choice with NO regrets! Thanks, Brant for providing such a great option!
