About Jody Landgrebe Owner/Manager

I've lived in the Custer area for 13 years and am a South Dakota native. After living out of state for 18 years, I returned to South Dakota for a more peaceful life.

Jody Landgrebe Owner/Manager purchased this lodge in 2002

Why Jody Landgrebe Owner/Manager chose Black Hills

I vacationed in the Custer area as a child, and returned to it because I've found the Custer area to be the perfect blend of rustic country living, beautiful scenery and friendly people. The town of Custer has all the shopping, restaurants and entertainment that anyone could possibly need without the frenzy of fast food, Walmarts and traffic that frazzle city folks lives.

What makes this lodge unique

This home is very private so that at the end of the day, I can sit on the front porch and watch the deer in the meadow in front of the house. It's surrounded by National Forest with unlimited opportunities to hike and explore.

Always peaceful

  • 5 of 5

We love staying at the Whitetail Meadows. The master bath is luxurious with its soaking tub and beautiful shower. The master bedroom is large and sunny with views of wildflife, just like the living room, kitchen and dining room have. We love to watch for deer. This literally is "end-of-the-road" as described and offers wonderful walks into the national forest. So much room, and so lovely, we can't say enough about how much we enjoy this property and the care the owner gives to it.

Everything we needed!

  • 5 of 5

The house was everything we needed and more! It is very spacious, even more so than the pictures show. The house is beautiful, it was still decorated for Christmas when we stayed which added to its beauty. The house was clean. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, cooking aids, etc. The house is very easy to find off the highway, and is in a location near many tourist sites. We went to Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse. One day we went to an indoor water park. We also went snow tubing which was a lot of fun. The weather was warm enough that some of us took early morning walks. It was beautiful, even in the winter. We would certainly rent this property again if we were looking for another getaway. There is a pool table and air hockey table in the lower level which my grandchildren used. We all had our own space which was nice. There's plenty of room for playing games and making puzzles. This is definitely a property that will serve you well!

Great property and great for a family.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at Jody's Whitetail Meadow cabin. It worked out great for three families and four grandchildren. Quiet and secluded with beautiful views of the meadow and sky in the morning and evening. Everything was there that we needed. Loved the deck and game room in the basement. Never turned on the TV once, we just enjoyed our time and the house and being able to relax on the two levels of the house. Great location. Cannot say enough about this great place and Jody's help and availability. Only thing we missed, would be a place for an outside fire of any kind, even a little fire ring with a lid type thing would have been great for a smore or two.

Annual Family Retreat

  • 5 of 5

The house was nearly perfect for the 10 people in our group. The house was clean. And Jodi (property owner) is friendly and very helpful. While there are a few things to do in the Black Hills even in the off season, we took this opportunity to totally relax. The ladies made one trip into Custer for groceries, chocolates, and a little window shopping. Mostly we spent our time hiking the National Forest around the cabin, playing outdoor games with the children. Cooking awesome meals and playing pool in the evenings. The object of our trip was accomplished... Peaceful quiet family time! We will be back.

Watch the wildlife in the meadow in front of the home and wander through Custer State Park (within 10 minutes) where the buffalo roam and the deer and the antelope play.
