About the property

Built in 1800, this manor cottage is set on a beautiful farm with hundreds of fruit trees mainly citrus fruits (oranges, lemons and grapefruits.) Creating wonderful scenery when in full bloom. It was completely refurbished in 2011 and is now a comfortable house fully adapted for people with reduced mobility. The property has kept its original structure, with thick walls of masonry, wood and a beautiful hipped roof. The location of the house away from the noise provides an atmosphere of peace and calm to all guests. Its two terraces and its tiny pool offer the possibility to enjoy the sunny days all the time.

The cottage is set on a 50,000 m2 estate situated in the area of El Madroñal (between Santa Brigida and San Mateo). In the same grounds there are two other little independent houses - all separate from one another. The estate is presently specializing in biological farming, and within it there are some lovely walks and the chance to go hiking along the diverse country paths in the surrounding areas. One can enjoy superb views from any point within the estate, overlooking the gorgeous countryside all around. The lovely countryside has remarkable resemblance to Tuscany. Altogether one can enjoy a real atmosphere of intimacy here, and breathe in the peace and tranquillity that this little pocket of nature affords.

A lovely finca surrounded by orange and lemon orchards in the hills of northern Gran Canaria

We enjoyed our stay here. The house is spacious and comfortable and there is everything you need to cater for yourselves. There are two bathrooms and plenty of hot water and towels. We were there in February and the central heating was on the whole time, keeping the place lovely and warm in the cool evenings.

The grounds surrounding the property are very pretty with lots of flowers and lawns where you can enjoy the sunshine. There are some walks straight from the house to both San Mateo and Santa Brigida, where there are plenty of shops and restaurants. Luis the owner is charming and helpful.

There is no hair dryer, which would have been useful. There is a good bus service to Las Palmas from the end of the road. You can also catch a bus to San Mateo and then another bus up to Tejeda in the mountains. It's a great area if you enjoy walking and mountains but it is cooler than the south of the island especially in Winter.

Idylle

Wir hatten eine wundervolle Zeit in diesem wirklich sehr schönen und sehr ruhig gelegenen alten Haus mit viel Atmosphäre. Der das Haus umgebende Garten, eigentlich Park, mit u.a. Orangen- und Zitronenbäumen war das I-Tüpfelchen. Dass wir uns auch noch überlegen durften, welche von den leckeren Früchten wir nun ernten möchten, hat uns beglückt und war ein Zusatzgeschenk, von dem wir dankbar Gebrauch gemacht haben.

Ruhige Villa abseits vom Massentourismus

Ein wunderschöner Platz, um abseits der großen Touristenströme eine feine, ruhige Zeit zu verbringen.

Das Haus ist sehr urig mit viel Charme, ist umgeben von Orangen und Zitronenbäumen und hat einen ganz besonderen Flair.

Unser kleiner Sohn ( 3 Jahre alt ) hat sich hier vier Wochen lang, sehr wohl gefühlt und er wollte gar nicht mehr nach Hause fahren.

Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und Restaurantes gibt es 5 Minuten mit dem Auto entfernt in Vega de San Mateo oder in Santa Brigida.

Und wenn wir abends selber gekocht oder gegrilt haben, war der große Esstisch immer voll mit wunderbaren Speisen aus der Region.

Für uns war dieser Platz eine gute Ausgangsposition um die wunderschöne und vielfältige Insel zu erkunden.

Alles in allem ein besoderer und friedlicher Ort mit viel Charme, wo man am Abend mit einem Glas Wein im Garten sitzt und den Geräuschen der Nacht lauschen kann.

Wir lieben solche Orte und wenn es uns wieder einmal nach Gran Canaria verschlagen sollte, wissen wir wohin.

A dream came true

A lovely house which has been renovated with great taste and all amenities, spotless clean and nicely heated as it gets chilly in the evening...

A fantastic garden, a dream for all kids; a perfect location, only 20 min drive to the capital, with its lovely old town, great beach, museums, shops, restaurants...

A 5 min drive to the next grocery stores and best market of whole Gran Canaria (Vegua de San MAteo).

Perfect for exploring the inside of the island, with its great nature and proud past.

Great owner, who speaks extremely good English and would do anything for you.

We, a family of 5, loved it.

A dream came true

A lovely old house, completely renovated with great taste and fully furnished with all amenities, a huge garden where our three girls could spend hours playing hide and seek without being worried by cars passing by...

The next supermarket is located within 5 minutes drive, same for the best market of whole Gran Canaria (Vegua de San Mateo). To Las Palmas with its lovely old town, interesting museums, nice shops and great beach, it is a 20 min drive, to the famous beach of Maspalomas 45 min.

The house is perfectly located for exploring the inside of the island, with its lovely villages and great nature.

To the house itself: clean, very comfortable beds, and my oh my the heating!!! Yes, it can get chilly in the evening and that was a nice surprise, coming back in the late afternoon and finding a nice temperature inside.

Luis, the owner, was very helpful, he speaks great English and was always there for us.

I can recommend the place to all nature lovers, families with kids, people willing to enjoy peace and tranquillity without being lost up in the mountains. In the end, it takes only 35 min to reach the airport. A big plus.

Urige und gemütliche Finca

Wer Ruhe und Natur sucht, ist auf dieser Finca bestens aufgehoben. Hier haben auch Kinder Platz zum Spielen und Lärmen, ohne dass es Jemanden stört. Die Finca ist einfach urig und die Renovierung behutsam (ohne den ursprünglichen Charakter übermäßig zu verändern) durchgeführt. Auch die Möblierung und Dekoration wurde dem angepasst. Man muss dies mögen - wir haben uns hier 4 Wochen im Winter sehr wohlgefühlt. Ansonsten ist das Haus technisch in gutem Standard: Küche mit Ceranfeldherd, kleinem externer Backofen, Microwelle, Kaffeemaschine, elektr. Obstpresse und Stabmixer, ausreichend Töpfe und Pfannen. Fehlende Gläser haben wir aufgestockt/angeschafft. Im Wohnraum findet man SAT-TV, WLan und einen CD-Player. Die Schlafzimmer sind riesig und die Betten mit guten Matratzen und ausreichend Schrankraum ausgestattet. Schön ist auch der große Esszimmertisch mit großer Anzahl an Stühlen. Auch die anderen Räume sind sehr großzügig; das Behinderten-gerechte Bad im Erdgeschoss sehr praktisch. Lediglich die Treppe zum Dachgeschoss ist recht schmal und weist hohe Stufen auf; für Kinder kein Problem - aber für geh-eingeschränkte oder ältere Menschen mühselig. Da es auf der Finca immer einige Grade kühler als am Meer ist, haben wir gerne an den Abenden die installierte Zentralheizung genutzt.

Jeweils einmal in der Woche werden Küche und Bad geputzt sowie Bettwäsche und Handtücher gewechselt. Leider nimmt es die Putzfrau damit (trotz zusätzlichem Trinkgeld) nicht so genau.

Die Anfahrt zur Finca muss teilweise mit viel Schwung und über einen hügelige und enge Zufahrt genommen werden; wir haben es mit unserem 9-Sitzer gerade noch geschafft. Tipp: Das Obst der Plantage darf gepflückt werden und bei der auf dem Areal lebenden Schweizerin kann man frische Eier vom Hühnerstall weg kaufen!

Alles in Allem: ein empfehlenswertes Domizil für Individualisten!
