It is fully equipped including: a brand new LED/internet-enabled flat screen HD TV with access to over 70 cable channels; a Blu-Ray DVD player; a queen size sofa bed in the living area; a separate TV & DVD player in the guest bedroom; full size washer & separate dryer; a fully equipped kitchen with smooth cooktop cooker, coffee grinder, coffee maker, microwave oven, toaster oven, rice cooker, slow cooker/crockpot, and full set of cooking utensils - to name just a few.

The beautifully furnished master bedroom with superb oceanfront views comes furnished with a queen bed suite with an en-suite master bathroom. For privacy, the master bedroom is separated from the living room by a shoji pocket door. The second bedroom has two twin beds with posturepedic mattresses which can be converted into a king size bed upon request and there is also a queen sleeper sofa in the living room. Yes, we are ideally located on the oceanfront side of Alii Drive, yet not in the noisy hubbub of downtown Kona and yet with fast and easy access to Kona Downtown (2 miles approximately). Shopping is within a short driving distance: Banyan Mart (Right Opposite Our Building), KTA Superstore and Pharmacy (7 min), Safeway (10 min), Walmart (10 min), Target (13 min) and Costco (20 min). The penthouse is just a few yards from the award winning, ever popular ‘Da Poke Shack’ restaurant and there is a mini-mart right across the street for your immediate needs, it is very convenient for shopping and restaurants. We are only 22 minutes drive from the airport.

We love Hawaii - a little unspoilt corner of this planet. This condo has an excellent oceanfront location, is really comfortable and beautiful, well furnished, clean, bright and very convenient to everywhere. The entire building underwent a major renovation in 2008 and the Homeowners' Association continues to improve and maintain the building. Even though there are just twenty units in the building, we have a great building manager living on-site looking after the building's common elements.

The condo was great - really enjoyed it. No problems or issues at all as we found the property to be clean, in excellent repair and well-appointed. I would recommend this unit to others. The only very minor item to note is the vacuum wasn't functioning properly - not sure why.

We were very pleased with our recent stay at Banyan Tree condominiums. We brought our two boys, ages 10 and 14. They really liked having their own bedroom with twin beds. This unit is on the 4th floor and has an amazing view. The photos are very accurate. Every morning we relaxed with our coffee on the lanai and watched the surfers right outside our back door. When the tide was low we saw turtles resting on the tidepools at the condos next door. The condo is very clean, comfortable and well stocked. We enjoyed having the thick beach towels, the beach mats, and cooler. The beds were very comfortable (and we are picky about our beds!) and the sheets and bath towels are of very good quality. The kitchen is well stocked with plenty of dishes, pots, knives, etc. We looked at a lot of places on VRBO and decided what we really wanted was a place with a great view of the ocean and this place did not disappoint. The location can't be beat - not too close to all the hub-bub of downtown Kona, but not too far that you can't drive down there in about 5 minutes. We really appreciated the assigned parking right under the building and the security of the building. We felt very safe leaving our windows open at night and falling asleep to the sound of the waves. The building has about 18 units from what we could tell; the pool is very clean and literally right near the ocean. There's a hot tub too. It's all beautifully maintained by the building manager, Dana, who is very helpful and friendly. We had the pool area to ourselves every day. The condo location served as a good launching pad for all our activities. We drove to Volcano one day, drove up north twice, visited several local beaches, tried out many dining places on the water and took a boat trip with Sea Quest, which was amazing. I highly recommend them. We rented snorkeling gear just up the street at Millers. Mark got us all outfitted in less than 30 minutes. We also ate at Da Poke Shack just around the corner from Millers. Very yummy. Bhavesh, the condo owner, was very accommodating throughout the entire process. He was easy to communicate with via email, always responding quickly. We had no problems at all and would definitely return. The only suggestion I would have is one more comfy chair to sit on in the living room area. Other than that, the condo is nicely furnished with a sofa, wooden chair, dinette set and very nice furniture on the lanai. We ate out there several times. We'll definitely return!

Owner's Response: Sarah, many thanks for a wonderful review. On your recommendation we purchased and installed two new beautiful bamboo chairs for the living room. Also we now have air conditioning in the unit. In addition, we have a new sofabed and a new mattress pad for the sofabed to make it even more comfortable. We have installed new ductwork for our dryer so that it now vents through the roof instead of into the condo. There is a new flat screen HD LED TV and an internet enabled blueray DVD in the guest bedroom. The swimming pool and patio area was completely refurbished in September 2013. The garage had new asphalt laid in September 2013 also.

Hawaii Luxury

At the Banyon Tree you will find the best views of the ocean from the west wall of windows. In the mornings, catch the surfers riding a morning wave. The unit overlooks one of the few spots for surfing on the whole west coast. This balcony is also ideal for viewing the last rays of sunshine as the sun sets over a gorgeous ocean. Watch for the green flash!

If you are the adventurous type, you will be happy to know that you have easy access to some great adventures; Kayaking, surfing, hiking, sight-seeing, and my personal favorite, cliff-diving. Just south of the Banyon Tree you can find a place to challenge your inner fears of falling. Take the plunge or just enjoy the scenery. Either way, I encourage you to find The End of the Earth.

Being a vegan makes life as a tourist a little more difficult. At the Banyon Tree I was able to cook my own meals with simple ingredients that are found around the corner.

Come back to the Banyon Tree after a long day, clean up, and set out for an interesting night on the town for food, music, or shopping.

Beautiful condo on the beach with A/C, what more do you need!!

I have rented numerous condos in my life and usually pictures are better than the actual place. This is the first condo that actually looks even better than the picures. It is in perfect location,tastefully decorated,excellent A/C,fully stocked kitchen,towels and a closet filled with anything one may need for the beach. It has 5-6 boogie boards,snorkeling gear,chairs,umbrellas,inflatable lounges,noodles,life jackets and baby stuff. My family raved about the comfortable beds and how clean it was..Very well kept pool area and hot tub overlooking the ocean. I want to thank the owner who went out of his way to call and check up on us, making sure we had everything we needed.

We loved the Banyan Tree #401. It was a great place to enjoy our vacation.

The view is fantastic! We looked forward every morning to coffee and breakfast on the lanai. We watched surfers, counted crabs on the rocks, spotted fish, saw a rainbow shining through the palm tree, enjoyed the birds in the palm tree, watched the sunset, and listened to the waves. The location is nice, close to beaches and restaurants. The Poke Shack is just a five minute walk away (look it up!). Lots of beach gear is in the closet to use. Bhavesh is very attentive. He checked in with us when we arrived and could easily be reached if we had a need or question. The unit was clean, comfortable, and plenty spacious for our family of five. It felt like a home away from home. We highly recommend this location and hated to leave.

Million dollar view.

We loved our two week stay and plan on returning. The few small issues were immediately taken care of. The owner is very user friendly and takes great concern with your comfort and needs. The view watching the surfers out front really was outstanding. Can't say enough good things about our stay. Going to bring my fishing rod next time.

Average condo, but with air conditioning and a view

We've rented a fair number of condos in Maui and Kauai, but this was our first on the Big Island - I'm not certain what's considered average or way above average here. Unit 401 at the Banyan Tree has all the functional things you'd want.

It has a decently (but not amazingly) well-stocked kitchen, for instance. There was a toaster oven, but no toaster. There were the basic cooking tools, but nothing more than the basics. I can't fault the kitchen (except for no placemats and nothing for closing up cereal boxes and bags of chips to protect them from possible ants). It was OK.

The bathrooms were also OK - basic showers and tubs, each of the two bathrooms with three large towels. No soap, though. There were beach towels in another closet, old but serviceable.

The dining room table was small and circular, from which you couldn't see the TV (f you care) and into which the air conditioning blew. It had four chairs. It was fine for two, would have been tight for four and impossible for six.

The TV in the living room was pretty good, including a lot of channels and On Demand viewing, although the TV had a pixel out.

The bed in the main bedroom was small (double?) and there were two twin beds in the second bedroom. The pillow was quite poor to my taste, but might be just fine for someone else.

The lanai (balcony) was pretty good. Kinda small, but it had a table and four chairs, and looked out onto surfers and the wide blue ocean. However, the air conditioner in the living room (and master bedroom) was connected to a large fan that blew hot air toward the table. The balcony is a feature and the air conditioning is a feature, but they didn't work together that well.

Finally, the building seems old, although I've read it's fairly new? Everything right on the ocean ages quickly, of course. The unit does have free parking for one car and the building has a couple inddoor spots for guest parking. The building also has a small swimming pool and two gas grills, neither of which we used.

The location is pretty good, although it's not walking distance to much. It is just a short drive, though, to a good snorkeling beach and to downtown Kona, and ten minutes to more than one shopping center.

I wouldn't stay here again, but there was nothing really wrong with the place, either.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for the feedback. Toaster, plastic bag clips and placemats have been purchased and are now in the unit. I always ask my guests to let me know if there is anything else we can do to make their stay more comfortable and we have a great team on the ground to take care of my guests. New beach towels were purchased for the unit just a few months prior to this guest's stay. We have a queen bed in the master bedroom. The dual split air conditioning system does have the compressor located on the lanai. Our penthouse condo is one of few in the complex with air conditioning. Unfortunately, the lanai is the only location that the homeowners association will allow us to locate the compressor. We suggest that the a/c is turned off inside the unit when guests are outside enjoying the lanai - to avoid the warm air from the compressor blowing on their legs. The building is not new, in fact, I don't believe that the County of Hawaii has approved a new condominium building construction on the oceanside of Alii Drive for decades. Our building did undergo a major renovation a few years back.
