Overview

Port Saint Joe House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-7)

The beauty of the setting of this home is unmatchable. From the large open porch, view pristine white sandy beaches of Indian Pass with multiple species of sea birds, enjoy watching dolphins in the Gulf, and experience stars at night like you've never seen them. Even night owls will want to awaken for the spectacular sunrises peeking above the Western tip of beautiful St. Vincent's Island, a National Wildlife Refuge just a short kayak trip away. Once you've stayed at 'Starlight by the Sea' you'll never want to leave--it happens to everyone.

This home was designed by the owners for fun for the entire family, all ages and including the 4-legged members as well. Indian Pass is the dog friendliest beach you'll ever find. Like horses? We're horse friendly, too. Ride the 5000 acre Buffer Preserve or the 8000 acre Box R Ranch, or with permits and tail bags, ride the lovely beaches of Indian Pass and Cape San Blas. There's also great fishing, boating, and golfing. After all this activity, relax swinging in the hammock, sunning on the open deck, or reading a good book in the shade of the veranda. Then stroll the beach for a magnificent sunset. It truly is magical.

IF YOUR IDEA OF A GREAT VACATION IS...

To gently awaken in bed with a view of a huge red sun peeking over the horizon and the sound of seagulls and waves lapping the shore

To sit on a breezy porch with a panoramic view of the Gulf of Mexico and watch dolphins frolicking in blue water and blue herons walking along a snow white beach

To eat sunset dinners al fresco while watching the Gulf of Mexico turn an iridescent blue against a pink sky

To lounge on comfortable chairs looking up at star-filled nights and moonlight shining on the sea

About Joy Stallings

I am an anthropologist and my husband is a commercial real estate attorney. We are both now retired with 3 horses and 4 dogs, living quite a different lifestyle on Indian Pass from the hustle and bustle of Atlanta city life. As pictured here with me, we often enjoy having our beautiful granddaughter with us at 'Starlight by the Sea', a place filled with years of wonderful times and family memories.

Joy Stallings purchased this house in 1992

Why Joy Stallings chose Florida Panhandle

When we saw our property on Indian Pass in 1992, it was the first time we had visited Indian Pass, even though we had vacationed on Cape San Blas several times with our young children. In fact, our son and daughter were only 6 and 4 years old in 1982 when we first vacationed in the area. As we hiked through the oak trees, palmettos, and palms, and climbed the sand dunes near the beach, we were in awe of the beauty we beheld. It was like finding a secret hideaway, with beautiful natural vegetation, gently curving white sandy beaches, and a view of an uninhabited barrier island displaying a show of seabirds hunting their supper in the blue gulf waters. And, amazingly, that is the way it's been ever since...

What makes this house unique

The uniqueness of 'Starlight by the Sea' and Indian Pass can be summed up in a couple of words--family fun! It's a place where everyone, furry ones included, can relax, play, feel at home, and enjoy the quiet, pristine, natural beauty of the coast. We built 'Starlight by the Sea' in 1996, and our focus was to experience as much of the natural beauty of Indian Pass from all areas of the house, to be comfortable for all ages, from parents and grandparents to young children, and to accommodate our 4 legged family members as well. It has certainly fulfilled all our dreams for our family, and we think it can for yours as well.

A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE!

  • 5 of 5

I have been to this area for a vacation for about 15 years now and we have finally found the perfect place. We stayed here in early November for a week. The experience started off well with timely communication by the owner. When we arrived the home was even better than expected! The pictures don't do it justice. The home was extremely clean, very well appointed, and felt much more like a home than a rental. The beds were comfortable and the linens so soft. The outside back deck was huge! I read an entire book in the hammock! The beach was quiet and clean. We saw dolphins, sting rays and many jelly fish. The nature preserve was very intriguing to look at . We hated to leave. Our damage deposit was returned within days. We will certainly be back to Indian Pass and we want to stay at Starlight by the Sea.

Absolutely fantastic!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at y'all's house! It was very well stocked with kitchen supplies, beach chairs, grill (charcoal & gas), very comfortable beds, soft toilet paper, books, towels, coat hangers, dish detergent, great TV, I could go on and on. The home is beautiful and very comfortable. We took our dogs and they loved it too! Very clear instructions were left for TV usage, check out process, contact numbers, wifi code and area restaurants & activities. The price was very reasonable and we definitely plan to make a return trip. Thanks again!!

Lovely, Well-Maintained Home

  • 4 of 5

Husband and I stayed here Aug. 20-26 with our two dogs. The house was the perfect size. Really appreciated the "dog-friendly" back deck with gates to keep pups safe and secure! Beautiful view of the wildlife sanctuary from the back deck, we got lots of pictures. House is very well-maintained and very comfortable. Joy lived up to her name, answering all emails promptly. An issue with a broken coffee maker was resolved immediately, no fuss. One thing I didn't think to bring was insect repellant - lots of mosquitoes, and the dogs were plagued by biting flies. Highly recommend the beach at St. Joseph Peninsula State Park, just a 15 minute drive. White sands, clear water, and services like bathrooms and showers which make it worth the $6 fee. Also recommend the Indian Pass Raw Bar, great crab and shrimp and super casual.

Owner's Response: Happy you enjoyed "Starlight by the Sea" and that it worked well for you and your pups. Sorry we couldn't do anything about the summer FL bugs. It's very hard to predict when you may have an onslaught, but I hope your experience overall was a 5 star vacation full of great memories. Kind regards, Joy

Beauty Full!

  • 5 of 5

Starlight by the Sea exceeded my expectations! I was nervous renting on VRBO since I have never done it before ! After I called Joy I knew this house was going to be perfect and if there were any issues I could easily call her and it resolved. We had a great time with our two dogs who were able to get out and get plenty of excercise and despite a few rainy days we watched the Olympics with plenty of room for everyone to lounge around and relax! Also stock full of books, games, puzzles etc. I didn't want to leave the view!! Beautiful to wake up to everyday! The house was in great shape and we had everything we needed!! Thank You so much for sharing your little slice of heaven!! I would definetley return! I also suggest contacting Clay (we got his card from the campground store) for kayaks to be delivered to the house and for pontoon boat rental!

Beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

This was our third visit to Starlight. The property is well kept, extremely comfortable, and clean. The owner provides everything to make your stay enjoyable. Just bring your food and beach clothes and enjoy a fabulous view from the large deck or from your beach chair on the quiet beach. Furniture is comfortable indoors as well as out. We have vacationed in the Indian Pass/Cape San Blas area for about 10 years and have finally found the perfect spot!
