Port Saint Joe House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-7)

The beauty of the setting of this home is unmatchable. From the large open porch, view pristine white sandy beaches of Indian Pass with multiple species of sea birds, enjoy watching dolphins in the Gulf, and experience stars at night like you've never seen them. Even night owls will want to awaken for the spectacular sunrises peeking above the Western tip of beautiful St. Vincent's Island, a National Wildlife Refuge just a short kayak trip away. Once you've stayed at 'Starlight by the Sea' you'll never want to leave--it happens to everyone.

This home was designed by the owners for fun for the entire family, all ages and including the 4-legged members as well. Indian Pass is the dog friendliest beach you'll ever find. Like horses? We're horse friendly, too. Ride the 5000 acre Buffer Preserve or the 8000 acre Box R Ranch, or with permits and tail bags, ride the lovely beaches of Indian Pass and Cape San Blas. There's also great fishing, boating, and golfing. After all this activity, relax swinging in the hammock, sunning on the open deck, or reading a good book in the shade of the veranda. Then stroll the beach for a magnificent sunset. It truly is magical.

IF YOUR IDEA OF A GREAT VACATION IS...

To gently awaken in bed with a view of a huge red sun peeking over the horizon and the sound of seagulls and waves lapping the shore

To sit on a breezy porch with a panoramic view of the Gulf of Mexico and watch dolphins frolicking in blue water and blue herons walking along a snow white beach

To eat sunset dinners al fresco while watching the Gulf of Mexico turn an iridescent blue against a pink sky

To lounge on comfortable chairs looking up at star-filled nights and moonlight shining on the sea

About Joy Stallings

I am an anthropologist and my husband is a commercial real estate attorney. We are both now retired with 3 horses and 4 dogs, living quite a different lifestyle on Indian Pass from the hustle and bustle of Atlanta city life. As pictured here with me, we often enjoy having our beautiful granddaughter with us at 'Starlight by the Sea', a place filled with years of wonderful times and family memories.

Joy Stallings purchased this house in 1992

Why Joy Stallings chose Florida Panhandle

When we saw our property on Indian Pass in 1992, it was the first time we had visited Indian Pass, even though we had vacationed on Cape San Blas several times with our young children. In fact, our son and daughter were only 6 and 4 years old in 1982 when we first vacationed in the area. As we hiked through the oak trees, palmettos, and palms, and climbed the sand dunes near the beach, we were in awe of the beauty we beheld. It was like finding a secret hideaway, with beautiful natural vegetation, gently curving white sandy beaches, and a view of an uninhabited barrier island displaying a show of seabirds hunting their supper in the blue gulf waters. And, amazingly, that is the way it's been ever since...

What makes this house unique

The uniqueness of 'Starlight by the Sea' and Indian Pass can be summed up in a couple of words--family fun! It's a place where everyone, furry ones included, can relax, play, feel at home, and enjoy the quiet, pristine, natural beauty of the coast. We built 'Starlight by the Sea' in 1996, and our focus was to experience as much of the natural beauty of Indian Pass from all areas of the house, to be comfortable for all ages, from parents and grandparents to young children, and to accommodate our 4 legged family members as well. It has certainly fulfilled all our dreams for our family, and we think it can for yours as well.

A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE!

  • 5 of 5

I have been to this area for a vacation for about 15 years now and we have finally found the perfect place. We stayed here in early November for a week. The experience started off well with timely communication by the owner. When we arrived the home was even better than expected! The pictures don't do it justice. The home was extremely clean, very well appointed, and felt much more like a home than a rental. The beds were comfortable and the linens so soft. The outside back deck was huge! I read an entire book in the hammock! The beach was quiet and clean. We saw dolphins, sting rays and many jelly fish. The nature preserve was very intriguing to look at . We hated to leave. Our damage deposit was returned within days. We will certainly be back to Indian Pass and we want to stay at Starlight by the Sea.

The property pretty clean and pretty well kept up.

Lots of fun and very nice weather. No crowds while we were there. Enjoyed the fishing and beach. Of course the severe red tide from the year before has really affected the fishing in that area. We may be back again next year. I think we have stayed there 7 of the past 8 years. I would recommend this place to others.

Owner's Response: James, we appreciate your choosing "Starlight by the Sea" for your vacation for so many years. We haven't heard about any fishing issues around Indian Pass. One guest a few weeks ago caught a 15 lb triple tail right in front of the house. He said it took him 30 min to bring it in. Another guest caught a large red fish. I guess those fish can be fickle. Have a great year and we hope you and your family and pups will be back again next year. Best, Joy

Great stay

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Starlight by the Sea the last week of October and it was wonderful. This is the best time of year...weather not too hot, insects not to plentiful, and less people. The house was excellent! Such a pretty location with the view of St. Vincent's island and all of the foliage around the house. It felt like we were in the Caribbean. You can see the thought process of the owners (the Stalling's) when they built this house. A gorgeous view from inside the house that gets even nicer when you go outside onto the huge deck. It really was hard to leave the house! The house was certainly stocked better than most rental houses, which was very nice. They had lots of books in the house, if you forget something to read. No need for beach towels or beach chairs, they had plenty. The wrap around deck is gated everywhere, which was wonderful for the dogs. They had as much fun as anyone. When you can finally leave the house, the Indian Pass Raw bar is just down the road. In Port St. Joe, Krazyfish Grill was really good and in Apalach, we loved Up the Creek Raw Bar. If you have any questions, Joy is always available to answer and was a pleasure to talk to. We have been to this area many, many years and found this trip to be one of the best. Hope to return to Starlight soon!

Wonderful Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

Starlight by the Sea was the perfect getaway for my family and I! The home was exactly as the pictures conveyed. Beautiful location on the always lovely Indian Pass Beach. This was our third time back to Indian Pass and Starlight is now our favorite home that we've stayed at so far. Reserving through Homeaway, arrival and departure were all stress free. We've stayed in enough places to see some odd and over-the-top requests of guests, but not so with Starlight. We appreciated this a lot.

The house was very clean. We loved the big living area with great views of the beach and the plentiful/comfortable seating. The deck was the best part, and while you have to wait for the shade more in the afternoon, it was fine since we wanted to be down on the beach in the mornings usually. Very thankful for all the great deck furniture! Not all homes will provide that. The kitchen is small, but we never had an issue with that - it really is very well stocked like the owners claim. We were able to cook any meals we wanted to without any problems using what was in the kitchen. The bedrooms were wonderful and the beds were very comfortable. The bathrooms were well stocked with towels and there were plenty more in a small hall closet. There are even beach chairs and other items that we made use of. The gates on the deck and leading down to the beach were great for our trio of small dogs.

We did have the issue of too many jellyfish the last couple of days to really enjoy the water, but that's a good time then to head to Apalachicola for some shopping and eating out. We ate lunch one day at The Owl Cafe, which I believe the owners had recommended in their information booklet about the area. It was wonderful! Highly recommended. We also have to stop at the soda fountain of course for ice cream and a drink on a hot day, and we ate dinner one night at the famous Indian Pass Raw Bar, right down the road from the beach house. It's always a fun experience. Recommend that you go early there, although you just never know what the crowd will be like, honestly. We arrived with literally one table left available back by their self-serve drink cooler. Soon it cleared out but quickly filled back up again. A really fun, relaxed atmosphere.

We loved our vacation. Thanks for making it as enjoyable as possible for us (the note and champagne were lovely)! We hope to be back again one day!

Starlight by the Sea is a wonderful place! Well stocked home, great fishing & very dog friendly !!

  • 5 of 5

This home is wonderful! The Stallings have thought of everything to make their visitors feel at home. In addition to a well stocked home, the beach and fishing were awesome. We saw beautiful sunrises and sunsets, eagles, stingrays, sand pipers, pelicans and dolphins. It is a nature get away and a phenomenal fishing place. And as a bonus, our dog had a wonderful time and was exhausted at the end of every day--a plus for all!!

Absolutely fantastic!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at y'all's house! It was very well stocked with kitchen supplies, beach chairs, grill (charcoal & gas), very comfortable beds, soft toilet paper, books, towels, coat hangers, dish detergent, great TV, I could go on and on. The home is beautiful and very comfortable. We took our dogs and they loved it too! Very clear instructions were left for TV usage, check out process, contact numbers, wifi code and area restaurants & activities. The price was very reasonable and we definitely plan to make a return trip. Thanks again!!
