The beauty of the setting of this home is unmatchable. From the large open porch, view pristine white sandy beaches of Indian Pass with multiple species of sea birds, enjoy watching dolphins in the Gulf, and experience stars at night like you've never seen them. Even night owls will want to awaken for the spectacular sunrises peeking above the Western tip of beautiful St. Vincent's Island, a National Wildlife Refuge just a short kayak trip away. Once you've stayed at 'Starlight by the Sea' you'll never want to leave--it happens to everyone.
This home was designed by the owners for fun for the entire family, all ages and including the 4-legged members as well. Indian Pass is the dog friendliest beach you'll ever find. Like horses? We're horse friendly, too. Ride the 5000 acre Buffer Preserve or the 8000 acre Box R Ranch, or with permits and tail bags, ride the lovely beaches of Indian Pass and Cape San Blas. There's also great fishing, boating, and golfing. After all this activity, relax swinging in the hammock, sunning on the open deck, or reading a good book in the shade of the veranda. Then stroll the beach for a magnificent sunset. It truly is magical.
IF YOUR IDEA OF A GREAT VACATION IS...
To gently awaken in bed with a view of a huge red sun peeking over the horizon and the sound of seagulls and waves lapping the shore
To sit on a breezy porch with a panoramic view of the Gulf of Mexico and watch dolphins frolicking in blue water and blue herons walking along a snow white beach
To eat sunset dinners al fresco while watching the Gulf of Mexico turn an iridescent blue against a pink sky
To lounge on comfortable chairs looking up at star-filled nights and moonlight shining on the sea

About Joy Stallings
I am an anthropologist and my husband is a commercial real estate attorney. We are both now retired with 3 horses and 4 dogs, living quite a different lifestyle on Indian Pass from the hustle and bustle of Atlanta city life. As pictured here with me, we often enjoy having our beautiful granddaughter with us at 'Starlight by the Sea', a place filled with years of wonderful times and family memories.
Joy Stallings purchased this House in 1992
Why Joy Stallings chose Indian Pass
When we saw our property on Indian Pass in 1992, it was the first time we had visited Indian Pass, even though we had vacationed on Cape San Blas several times with our young children. In fact, our son and daughter were only 6 and 4 years old in 1982 when we first vacationed in the area. As we hiked through the oak trees, palmettos, and palms, and climbed the sand dunes near the beach, we were in awe of the beauty we beheld. It was like finding a secret hideaway, with beautiful natural vegetation, gently curving white sandy beaches, and a view of an uninhabited barrier island displaying a show of seabirds hunting their supper in the blue gulf waters. And, amazingly, that is the way it's been ever since...
What makes this House unique
The uniqueness of 'Starlight by the Sea' and Indian Pass can be summed up in a couple of words--family fun! It's a place where everyone, furry ones included, can relax, play, feel at home, and enjoy the quiet, pristine, natural beauty of the coast. We built 'Starlight by the Sea' in 1996, and our focus was to experience as much of the natural beauty of Indian Pass from all areas of the house, to be comfortable for all ages, from parents and grandparents to young children, and to accommodate our 4 legged family members as well. It has certainly fulfilled all our dreams for our family, and we think it can for yours as well.

First retirement trip....awesome
We have stayed out on the cape several times and twice in Gulf Pines, but this was far and away the best stay ever. Indian Pass is very low density so you will enjoy uncrowded beaches anytime you go. Joy & Bob really hit the mark with their home design. 5 sliding patio doors in the the great room flood the house with light and the views are spectacular. The full length deck is just perfect. You have plenty of shade and plenty of sun. Every morning you can watch the sun come up over St. Vincent Island. Do take the Island Shuttle and spend 3 or 4 hours shelling or hiking. We will be staying at Starlight by the Sea again.
Thank you Joy & Bob
So glad, Jay, that "Starlight by the Sea" played a memorable role in your first retirement trip! It sounds like your favorite things about our home and Indian Pass are the same as ours. It's difficult to beat the views of those sunrises! Bob and I look forward to your return and hope you and Michele (and the poodles) continue to have a wonderful retirement. Best wishes, Joy
Every year we stay at Starlight By The Sea we leave with a peaceful feeling. We spend most of our time lounging on the deck, walking the beach and giggling at the beautiful sunsets! Seva, my wire fox terrier, loves it too! He can walk and play ball on the beach and loves to rest perched on a chair watching the people, dolphins, and other four legged or feathered friends pass by! I hate to write a review as I want it to be my well kept secret place!💜
Great as Always!
This was our second time at Starlight by the Sea. The house was wonderful. It was well stocked, clean, comfortable and had everything everyone needed. Thanks to the Stallings' for making this our favorite vacation spot! We look forward to returning in the future.
So nice to have your family again at "Starlight by the Sea", and we look forward to having you again soon. We love having families who discover "Starlight" and become our "return guests" ,who feel like our home is their home. Thank you, Joy
We had a wonderful time visiting Indian Pass. This house is right on the beach and has a wonderful outdoor covered deck that was perfect for staring at the ocean and stars. There is a house on each side of Starlight by the Sea but there wasn't anyone there when we visited. The house is much more private than most houses in the area and I am so glad we chose it. We had never visited this area of FL before and found that this vacation was exactly what we were looking for. It was very quiet and peaceful and not crowded. The seafood was spectacular. Best of all was the enjoyment we had walking on the beach with our dogs. The beach was right outside our door and there were pet gates on the deck that allowed our dogs to roam around freely. Joy was very responsive and helpful with suggestions on restaurants and things to do. We look forward to renting again.
So glad to hear you enjoyed your first stay at "Starlight by the Sea" and are looking forward to coming again. Thank you very much for your thoughtful and informative review. We are very fortunate to have such wonderful guests who enjoy "Starlight by the Sea" as much as we do! Best to all, Joy
