Fabulous property for families with children
The grounds of this property are simply magnificent. It has everything. The pool and the surrounding terrace were stunning. The extensive woodland was just perfect for the kids to build dens and have adventures. Perhaps the real stand out feature, was the immaculate, fully fenced in, football pitch and tennis court hidden in the woodland. We truly had a great family holiday.
Great location. Lovely property. Some upgrades and deferred maintenance definitely needed.
Really wonderful gardens where we picked raspberries and blackberries every morning. Must be stunning in the fall with all the pomegranate, apple and pear trees. Bedding was in need of upgrade. Pillows were very old and lumpy. Hot water heater went out but was promptly fixed. The swimming pool was gorgeous and a joy for our kids. The kitchen was serviceable but with all the Provençal bounty it would have been nice to have a better equipped kitchen to cook in.
Beautiful, serene oasis in the middle of wine country.
We were so pleased to have found this beautiful country house in Provence for my 40th birthday! We picked fresh berries every morning, swam in a pool in the orchard, woke up to the smell of lavender, played family soccer and boules and wandered among beautiful roses and trees. We even hired a private chef for a few nights so we didn't have to cook. Kimberly and her assistant, Sophie were very welcoming and extremely helpful in booking things and helping us plan our day trips and even shuttle us wine tasting! My kids especially loved the dogs that live there. The best vacation we have had yet!
The perfect place to stay in Provence
We spent the last 2 weeks of August here and our stay could not have been more enjoyable. This property is absolutely spectacular. There is an enormous and beautiful rose garden when you first approach the house. There are rows of fruit trees surrounding the house. We had fresh picked figs, pears, apples, almonds, strawberries, blackberries and strawberries right off the trees everyday. Also, the owner grows a vegetable garden on the property and told us that we could use as much of the vegetables as we wanted including basil, bell peppers, tomatoes and eggplants. The pool is amazing and set back from the house so that if someone is resting in the home, they will not be bothered by any noise or activity in the pool. The tennis/soccer court is great and provided hours of fun for our family. There are acres of land surrounding the tennis court as well as an old fashioned swing and slide set that was our son's favorite. On top of all of this, there is a boules court. The pictures on the website truly do not do the property justice.
One of the other major positives of this home is the owner, Kimberly. She could not be nicer, more hospitable or more welcoming. She lives right next door and is willing to help with everything. She helped us rent bicycles, she made reservations at restaurants for us, she let us use her phone, she gave us a refrigerator full of groceries when we arrived hungry and tired on a Sunday afternoon when all the stores were closed, she left us a bottle of champagne knowing we were celebrating an anniversary and she had us over for a barbecue on top of all of this.
Additionally, the property is within a reasonable driving distance of a lot of major cities including Aix-en-Provence, Avignon, Salon de Provence, Apt, L'isle sur la Sorgue, Cassis and many, many other cities so it is a great base for exploring Provence and taking in all the sights and sounds.
In short, this property really is the perfect place to stay in Provence. We truly enjoyed every minute of our stay here.
Best holiday ever!
My friend found this house on vrbo and we joined them for a two family holiday (each of us has 2 kids). The house had a great kitchen and eating area. The bedrooms were fresh, airy, and quiet. The bathrooms each had a shower and a bath and are done in a lovely Italian stone tile. But it was the property that won our hearts. There is a new rose and red fruit garden that is gorgeous, a beautiful pine forest for a relaxing walk with the dogs, a tennis court (the kids played every day), a fabulous vegetable garden, lots of fruit trees, and a fun petanque/boules court (the rules were easy to learn and there was a great housebook that explained everything). Aix is right nearby for restaurants and shopping, and there is a nearby town with a big Carrefour. We often went exploring countryside villages and farmers markets in the mornings, just relaxed by the pool with a glass of wine in the afternoons or read a book under the trees. We have come to Provence many times and this was our best holiday ever - the kids are already asking if we can come back next year. Thanks again to Kimberly for all of her great recommendations and for the lovely apperitif in the garden!
