Mountain Retreat in the Middle of the Alarka Range- WiFi included

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,000 sq. ft.
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

Spend the mornings sipping your coffee on one of the porch swings while watching the hummingbirds dance their fanciful dance. A small, spring-fed creek provides a restful babble as it flows beside the master bedroom and the porch. During the day, there are streams to fish and swim in, trails to hike and water falls to discover. At night, the stars are right there ready to be plucked from the sky, and the slot machines at the casino are ready to be played. No matter what the time of day, or what the weather, there is always something to do. Even if it is just sitting back on the porch again, watching the view change.

Maximum of 2, well behaved, dogs welcome. Pet fee of $100 will be refunded within 7 days when no damage is reported.

About Dean and Diane Shepherd

We are healthcare professionals who have spent our careers taking care of sick infants and children, in Florida. We have 3 children, and 6 grandchildren who have all shared the mountains with us. We are now empty-nesters, rounding into retirement, and trying to figure out what the next phase of our lives will be.

Why Dean and Diane Shepherd chose Bryson City Area

We started coming to the area 15 years ago, when the kids were small. We love playing on the raging rivers, most of all. Dean even became a rafting guide for NOC, 5 years ago. We live in Florida, but plan on spending our summers in the mountains as soon as we can. While we love Florida, nothing can beat a summer in the mountains.

What makes this cottage unique

For outdoor enthusiasts, this location cannot be beat. Whitewater, hiking, mountain biking, boating, waterfall seeking, ziplining, horseback riding are all nearby, in many forms. After days of adventure, or shopping for antiques, this house offers the best place for a quiet evening, watching the sunset with friends and family.

Nice, peaceful stay. Great porch with scenic view!

  • 4 of 5

Nice, peaceful stay. We stayed 2 nights this April during or my daughters spring break. Great porch with scenic view! Clean and cozy home. Excellent kitchen with a vast collection of silverware, crockery and utensils for cooking. Clean sheets and towels. The games and books were added bonus. One of the bedrooms needs the paint done as there are patches on the wall. We didn't use the fans but they were not clean. Those were just minor things in an otherwise excellent stay.

Owner's Response: Thanks for staying! There was a bit of communication lapse between me and my caretaker, so she didn't have quite enough time to finish all the details. The paint in the bedroom is from a new circuit that was run to the microwave. Just haven't had a chance to touch that up.

Relaxing and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for a last getaway before we have our first child. The house was very cozy and relaxing. The porch and the view are great! Our two dogs enjoyed the porch as well. The neighbors were very nice and came to check on us, which I appreciated! Loved the location, very convenient to the city if you want to go into town for food or activities. We would highly recommend this place for any stay!

This mountain home will be your favorite escape

  • 5 of 5

This house is in a good location. Very well maintained and clean. Good mountain views. Lots of room. Stocked with everything you could possibly need. the overseers of this property were very helpful. the only issue we had was an electrical problem in the kitchen. It took out the kitchen lights microwave and some outlets.we were supplied with a other microwave and we put a lamp in the kitchen,so it didn't bother us too much. You will love this place.

Home in the mountains

  • 5 of 5

The home is very well maintained and very private. The porch is inviting and the sunsets are awesome! The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans and utensils all organized and clearly labeled. The Wi-Fi connection is excellent! This is a nice getaway for up to 4 people! I highly recommend the home for anyone looking for a private retreat but with accessibility to what is available in the Smokey Mountains.

Owner's Response: Thank you! There is the sofa bed, so the house will sleep up to 6. But I have to agree, I have never found any sofa bed very comfortable.
