Overview

Healdsburg House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

Enjoy extraordinary views and re-connect with what matters in this secluded, completely remodeled cabin with custom craftsmanship and creatively repurposed materials in every room. The setting is private with nearly 200 acres of unspoiled woods out the back door - yet we're just seven minutes from Healdsburg square with great shopping, a wealth of tasting rooms and restaurants to please every palate. Wine tasting along Russian River's still-small and beautiful wine road is close and convenient.

Climb the steps to a tranquil getaway with exquisite views, and you'll not want to leave (many don't). Our most consistent feedback is that this 'tree house' feels like a world away from it all with its own little peaceful gravity well.

From April through August, we enjoy walkable Russian River access down the street for kayaking, tubing, or lounging on the beach. Year-round, there are hiking trails to choose from just outside the front or back door, as well as biking and paddle-boarding on the river. Within a short drive are some of the area's most beautiful trails and rides.

We have hand-crafted hardwood floors and (heated) tile throughout with well-placed windows for a very open feel, that never-the-less maintains total privacy. Enjoy the outdoor patio while taking in the views, napping, reading or sipping wine. Or venture out back to take in 180 degree views from above the trees, BBQ under the open sky, recount the days' events, or just play horseshoes.

For all the charm & craft, you'll find that the layout makes sense. In the master suite is a Cal king bed, 'en suite' full bath and private patio. Upstairs in the guest bedroom are two twins looking out into the forest, with a separate full bathroom on this main level. We also have two more twins available on the covered porch, as well as a convertible twin/full sofabed in the entry den. The kitchen opens onto the porch, looks out beyond the trees and is connected with the main living room.

We strive to keep the house tastefully appointed and amply stocked with all that you'll need for a comfortable & relaxing stay - from toiletries & hair dryers to a cook's kitchen, 'smart' TV & WiFi, and plenty of games for the playing.

About Heather

We are a couple from San Francisco who have long loved the Russian River valley and Healdsburg in particular. Sharing this place with others is a pleasure and a privilege for us.

Why Heather chose Sonoma County

It's a well-situated, peaceful getaway with stunning views & incredible craftsman detail. Healdsburg & the Russian River wineries are still intimate & small, yet sophisticated.

What makes this house unique

Best of both worlds :: At the end of the paved road & up in the trees, time slows down & life feels quieter here - but then Healdsburg food, shopping & wineries are 7 minutes away.

I love this place!

First of all, five stars is not enough, I give it 1000 stars! Writing this review makes me miss your lovely home even more. I am definitely coming back! From the start, Heather, you were so sweet and patient; thank you so much for helping this amateur VRBO traveler... The pictures do no justice for this lovely home which has the forest for its backyard. The home was also very well stocked with everything my family needed (bath soap, laundry soap, flashlight and even disposable razors) and were thankful for. Most if not all the major appliances were like brand new, including the washer/dryer. Heather recommended a variety of places to eat and wineries to try. Our favorite places were Willy's and Chalkboard! The chef at Chalkboard is a food wizard! The wineries were so nice too! Anyway, getting back to the lovely home. The master bedroom downstairs, was so nice and spacious with it's own cute little porch, making it very private from the rest of the home. There was also a bed upstairs on the beautiful outdoor covered porch which my whole family took turns napping on, whether to soak up the morning sun or enjoy the evening listening to the owl. This was also where we would plan our next day because there was so much room and seating to accommodate us all. Oh, please don't hesitate to water the pretty plant between the doors. When we first arrived, it's poor leaves were so droopy and sad, looking like it was dying. So, I watered it and to my amazement the next morning, all of the leaves were perked up and so pretty. I don't normally do well with plants, but this one was special. We also played horse shoe in the back yard and relaxed by having a few drinks and taking in the vast view of Healdsburg. One more thing, the drive to the house is a bit windy, but sooo beautiful. Just try to make it before nightfall. We arrived at 11pm, making it a little difficult to find the house and having teenage girls made it more dramatic! The road nearing the home was very narrow and a little spooky when trying to turn around, but I think that's why I miss it so much, my wild and adventurous side came alive. Also, if renting a car, please rent a small one...it'll make parking way easier. Lastly, the steps to the house are many, but well worth it for sure--top of the world! Just bring your inhaler, just kidding. It was a great way to work off all the delicious food we ate at Chalkboard. I can go on and on...JUST STAY HERE, you won't regret it!

Heaven on a hill

  • 5 of 5

It was great! We loved the location. Close to the great restaurants in Healdsburg, and being wine drinkers, we liked being right in the middle of all the different AVA's. The house couldn't have been stocked with more amenities. The view was awesome. Next time we stay we will pick a warmer week so we could spend more time on the wonderful porch.

Happy Hiker

  • 5 of 5

"We rented the house for a long girls' weekend with myself, my daughter, sister-in-law & two nieces last summer. It was perfect in every way. We dined and drank wine and caught up on the covered porch -- made more memories up behind the house, taking in the awe-inspiring views while the young ones played horseshoes and BBQ'd... it was just one of the best weekends, and the house was perfectly set up to accommodate our time together. Beds are comfortable, quality linens, the kitchen is very well-appointed for cooking & the layout made for a good mix of social/private space. There's no A/C, but we found we really didn't need it. You do have to climb those steps, but it's worth it. All in all, we couldn't have been happier with our "hilltop retreat."

Fabulous Visit & location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Hilltop Retreat for a long weekend. It was set up perfectly for us to spend the weekend enjoying the home and the area. We took advantage of the beautiful views from the deck/porch for morning coffee and drank wine and enjoyed the view from the back hill in the afternoon. The kitchen is well stocked and we took advantage of the kitchen to make a few meals in the home after winetasting. The house has a great flow with the master bedroom downstairs and another bed and bath upstairs on the main floor which has an open layout and a great porch off the kitchen with comfortable seating and fabulous views. The home is well located - close enough to town to visit one of the many restaurants or pick up a few items from the market and just far enough away to enjoy the quiet of the mountain, and as an added bonus it's close to the many wine trails. I look forward to our next stay on the hilltop soon - hopefully during the warmer months where we can explore the nearby river.

Above and Beyond

  • 5 of 5

Our girls weekend was awesome! The Hilltop Retreat was just that. After a day of flying and driving we were beyond pleased at what we found. The house was just as promised - ample amenities, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Our one little hiccup was that the washer was out out commission. Heather (owner) went above and beyond with offers to do laundry for us. We took her up on this offer - one of our activities was to run the Healdsburg Destination Half Marathon - laundry facilities were needed! Two of us enjoyed sleeping on the porch and the rest were very comfortable where they slept as well. Cannot think of a single complaint or criticism. Thanks for a very memorable trip!!
