About Cathy

Hello, I love having the opportunity of sharing our beautiful Oceanfront home with vacationers around the world! It's fun knowing that our visitors/guests are happy to be at a restful, peaceful and relaxing environment where they can actually hear the breathtaking sounds of the Ocean.

Cathy purchased this villa in 2000

Why Cathy chose New Providence

'Special Offer' Ferry Boat Ride from Paradise Island to downtown Bay Street where the Straw Market is located. To receive this 'Special Offer' we have a minimum stay of seven nights and this offer is for four adults. Please see photos and request 'Special Offer'when emailing us.

This vacation rental as it's a wonderful location on the ocean and great residential area opposite an Ambassador's Residence.

What makes this villa unique

There are many things to do at the Ocean Front Villa including, swimming, snorkeling in search of coral reefs. While snorkeling, we found a gorgeous reef with four crawfish, we saw many StarFishs along our way, what a wonderful experience! It's a great place for sitting on the patio and reading a book, relaxing in the warmth of the sun or have a swim in the private pool and go to sleep in the hammock alongside of the Oceanfront Villa.

Our guests enjoy a swim/snorkel from our back patio.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We enjoyed just staying at the villa and swimming and relaxing probably the most for the adults but our children took a trip to snorkel with Stuart's Cove and they loved that. We also went to the pirate museum and Atlantis which were fun but probably not our favorites. I think the best place we ate was Compass Point. It was right on the ocean with a great view and the food was good. That is where we tried the Guava Duff which was enjoyable. I would like to send Chef Sweeting a thank you card for his welcome treats and send him a little tip for such a wonderful and friendly act. If you have his address please send it to me and I will mail that to him. Thanks again for being so responsive to us and your wonderful ideas.

Cathy's ocean house is wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic time at Ocean Paradise! We were a family of 8 adults, 2 infants and 1 toddler. We had more than enough space for an entire week. The home was surprisingly well equipped for children, with toys, a play-yard, bouncy seat, books, and sand toys to be enjoyed. This truly is a great place for families to spend their vacation. Outdoor space that is safe, a pool to swim in, and quiet rooms for sleeping. We loved the large outdoor patio. The sunrise every morning was amazing. Lounging on the terrace in the afternoon sun was great for tanning, relaxing, reading and hanging out. We BBQed every night for dinner. It was wonderful. The home was very clean and comfortable for such a large group. Bedrooms are huge, beds comfortable and enough bathrooms for all. The area was beautiful. A 10 minute walk down the road is a small local beach that was lovely to relax at, wade in the beautiful water (all sand in the water so great for kids) and enjoy the sun. Downtown Nassau and all of the major desired destinations (Paradise Island, Atlantis etc) are an easy 20 minute drive. Best to follow Cathy's directions from the airport if driving or have GPS as most streets are NON named even though printed map directions will provide street names. You will get lost if you do this. Cathy was also a great host -- responded immediately to anything we needed, Very accommodating and helpful. I would highly recommended staying here for your Nassau vacation. Couldn't ask for much more!!

Perfect Vacation

  • 3 of 5

We arrived and the house was exactly was I was expecting. The living area is very open and welcoming. We had 3 adults and 3 children and everyone had enough breathing room! Having the pool with the house was a huge bonus! The kids got to decide whether or not to swim in the ocean or the pool! The house was fully stocked with everything we needed. Cathy was very responsive when we needed bottled water delivered (HUGE PERK - having fresh water) and extra towels. We did rent a car (minivan) which just fit in the driveway and driving on the left side of the road was much easier than I anticipated. Without traffic the drive to downtown and/or Paradise Island was about 15 minutes on a beautiful coastal road. The grocery store is literally 5 minutes away. The location is perfect if you want seclusion from tourists but close enough to everything when you choose. I will definitely be visiting again!

Disappointing property, rent the house next door instead

  • 2 of 5

My family and I have stayed at this property several times before without issue, however this past stay was riddled with problems starting with the toilet seats coming off to chronic plumbing abs air conditioning issues - the owner was not particularly responsive and it took several days for repair men to arrive - which still didn't resolve the issue. I continuously sent emails to the owner asking for assistance with minimal reply - at one point my husband had to repair the toilet himself!! The house was ill equipped with even the basic necessities and we had to purchase dish towels, paper towel and dish soap! The outside side yard had a large water tank that continuously leaked which meant brown water coming out of the toilets and showers, we had to take our kids next door to shower! The outside of the home needs much repair including the general landscaping - there is none- to the deep cracks in the patio and wholes making this property not particularly safe for children, my 4 year old fell several times. The pool is in desperate need of cleaning and in a grungy yellow at the bottom, every single pool toy that comes with the house is broken and unsafe. The kitchen cubboards in the kitchen are peeling due to water damage, and the mattresses are horrible. I have taken several pics of this property as the way it's shown on vrbo is a gross representation of what it actually looks like. And on top of this and despite this being our fourth trip to this home and loyal customers the owner has offered no compensation, simply excuses

Owner's Response: As a returning guest, it's displeasing that your experience was not as positive as your previous three visits. It is my goal that all guests have a wonderful vacation. I would like to review all of the issues mentioned by the above guest as follows: On Sunday, spoke with guests on arrival date at Villa. They confirmed everything was fine and that they had arrived safely. Guests are given two cell phone numbers to call if anything is needed. I received an email a few days after above guest arrival stating that both toilet seats were broken. Previous guests who left that morning did not mention anything about the toilet seats neither did housekeeper report anything wrong. Immediately, the plumber purchased new toilet seats for each toilet and installed them. Later, I received another email stating that A/C in kitchen had stopped working. A/C was repaired on the same day that email was received. A few days later, email was received about dish soap, paper towels and dish towels. Guest was given the key to storage room to have access to all paper towels, dish soap and dish towels. There are two water filters attached to holding water tank (not within view) to ensure that the water is of good quality. On Friday, first phone call from guest stating that water filters were leaking outside of house. The plumber came immediately and repaired water filter. We have noticed that the pool had a slight yellow stain. We have purchased paint and after the present guests leaves in the morning, the pool will be glowing white again. We advise guests to let us know how best to make their stay most enjoyable. As a result, new mattresses have been purchased for all beds to ensure that everything is perfect. It is my sincere sympathy for the four-year-old child who fell several times on the seaside patio. We have never received a complaint of this type in the past and will look into the matter as we regard the safety of guests of highest importance. It is my desire that all guests have a fabulous, spectacular, dream vacation. I do my utmost to ensure that every guest has a great vacation. Please see Review left by Rick who arrived at Ocean Paradise Villa on February 27th, 2017 just two weeks before the above guest’s arrival. He mentioned that his stay was perfect and he and his family would definitely come to visit again. Kindly find Rick's Review above. “The house was perfect! We had seven adults (three couples and a single) and the accommodations worked out perfectly"

Beaufitful house and location

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect! We had seven adults (three couples and a single) and the accommodations worked out perfectly. the back has steps that go down to the water and you swim right off the back of the house. The water is around waist deep and is perfect. I have rented a few vacation houses and one of my pet peeves is when the accommodations state that it can house 7 people comfortably and them you get there and there never enough dishes and utensils for everyone. Cathy has more than enough of everything for a lot more than just seven people! The outside grill is weathered from being so close to the ocean and salt air but it worked perfectly and grilled everything evenly. This house is in a beautiful location and is well kept just far enough away from all the tourist locations where you have peace and quiet. With that said the one thing you'll have to keep in mind is that you should plan on renting a car to get around the island but unless you're staying on a resort you'll need a car to get around anyway. I would recommend this house to anybody looking to rent a vacation home in Nassau.

Thank you Cathy for sharing you're wonderful house with us. My Family and I enjoyed it!

Owner's Response: We are delighted that the accommodations worked out perfectly and comfortably for all seven adults. Also happy that everyone enjoyed the warm, crystal clear sea which is approximately 35 walking steps from the Ocean Paradise Villa's rear door. I agree that the sea is usually at a comfortable height of around waist deep and it is a fantastic area to swim, snorkel or just gaze at the Star Fish at the bottom of the ocean. Just bring your snorkel gear and floats! The BBQ grill is located near (practically in) the ocean and usually has to be replaced each year or otherwise looks weatherworn from the salt air but is in good working condition. We usually recommend leasing a car as it's more convenient; however, some guests prefer to stay at Ocean Paradise Villa, lounge on the chairs outback, enjoy BBQ, private pool and relax with the spectacular and amazing view of the Sea.

Well needed vacation!

  • 5 of 5

This Villa was wonderful and peaceful. Away from traffic and crowds. Which is exactly what I was wanting. The ocean being a step away was awesome. We so enjoyed our stay. For Breakfast we enjoyed at the Villa while lunch and dinner we enjoyed out. The store was only a few min away and fairly expensive compared to home. Because the Villa is away from downtown area, I do recommend renting a car to get around, using a taxi can be costly. I must say it was a challenge getting use to driving on the left side of the street. But the locals helped out ALOT. I recommend using Kyla Ralston & Associates Ltd to rent a car from. The car was at the airport waiting for us upon arrival and was very reasonable.

Thank you Cathy. Your Villa was beautiful and we will be back.

'Special Offer' Ferry Boat Ride from Paradise Island to downtown Bay Street where the Straw Market is located. To receive this 'Special Offer' we have a minimum stay of seven nights and this offer is for four adults. Please see photos and request 'Special Offer'when emailing us.

There is a Five Star, world famous resort called Atlantis, located on the very popular Paradise Island. Visit the restaurants and shops at Marina Village, tennis, swim with the dolphins or participate in various tourist sea excursions. Tourists can buy a day pass for $135 per adult and $80 per child and be able to enjoy all of its facilities including the Water Theme Park, slides, underwater aquariums and gorgeous beaches.

A visit to Blue Lagoon Island is highly recommended where you can pat the Sea Lions and swim with the Dolphins.Guests can spend a whole or half day on the beach on this excursion.

There is a full day 'Family Island' trips/excursions on the 'Bohengy Boat' (also called Bahamas Fast Ferries) which takes approximately 2-1/2 hours to travel to family islands like Harbor Island, Eleuthera, where there are more gorgeous, secluded beaches with pink sand.

Please find below 12 suggestions for 'Things To Do In Nassau' as follows:

1. The Straw Market - Start your vacation at Nassau's Straw Market. It's in the middle of town, and it's very popular with visitors.

2. Bay Street - If you're looking for bargains on designer clothing and other luxury items, you'll be delighted with the duty-free prices in Nassau's prime shopping district. Dance your way from store to store, with music from the steel drums at the nearby Straw Market

3. The Pirates Museum for families with kids seem to really enjoy this adventure.

4. Have your wedding or anniversary celebration at one of our gorgeous beaches or one of our Oldest Churches called Christ Church Cathedral in downtown where Prince Harry recently visited.

5. Ardastra Gardens - One mile west of downtown Nassau, you'll find one of the area's most enduring tourist attractions. A conservation center run by people who consider the animals--especially the flamingos--their companions, not pets. The Gardens' must-see attraction is their world-famous Marching Flamingo show which takes place three times daily. As their guide shouts commands, 30 or more flamingos perform in unison. No visit to Nassau is complete without a visit to this quirky site.

6. Fort Charlotte - While you're at Ardastra Gardens, visit nearby Fort Charlotte, the largest and most interesting of Nassau's three colonial forts. It features a waterless moat, a drawbridge, underground passages and even a dungeon. Be sure to look for graffiti etched in the walls by soldiers who were stationed here. Although this 18th-century fort isn't especially beautiful, you'll be glad that you brought your camera for the picture perfect views of Nassau Harbor. Admission to the fort is free, as are the regular guided tours .

7. Queen's Staircase - While you're touring the town, be sure to climb the Queen's Staircase. With one step for each year of Queen Victoria's life, the top of this limestone staircase offers one of the best views of the area. Considered one of the world's top ten outdoor staircases, it's also a short walk from the top to Fort Fincastle, built in 1793. This is another spectacular lookout to capture Nassau's magnificent landscapes in photos.

8. Junkanoo - If you're in Nassau in December, get ready to party at the annual Junkanoo festival.

9. Underwater splendor - Snorkeling is one of the many ways to enjoy the crystal clear waters that are just outside your door in Nassau. Whether you're a beginner or a pro, you can rent snorkeling and diving equipment, take lessons, go on a guided underwater tour, or set out on your own.

If you're not a swimmer, you can still see the underwater landscapes that make Nassau so famous. Glass-bottom boats and a floating underwater observatory are just a few ways for you to see the many exotic fish and fabulous coral reefs in Nassau's tranquil turquoise waters.

10. Shipwreck Cruises - For the ultimate adventure, hop a boat and sail to a deserted island for lunch, snorkeling, and exploring. Several companies offer exciting planned adventures for adults as well as families, with different destinations and themes. Whether you're interested in a leisurely cruise or a high-speed ride on a world-class powerboat, you'll find a wide range of water adventures waiting for you in Nassau.

11. Paradise Island - Cross the bridge or take a water taxi to Paradise for an unforgettable adventure.

12. Versailles Gardens and Cloisters - These are part of the Ocean Club resort on Paradise Island, and are well worth seeing.

The Bahama Islands are magnificent, and Nassau is their crown jewel. Whether you come here for the many attractions or simply to relax at our Oceanfront Villa.
