Fantasic stay

  • 5 of 5

We loved this place from start to finish. Finding the place was easy, as was following the clear directions from the owner. We were greeted with soft lighting and Christmas music and snacks in the kitchen. The place is small but oh so comfortable and beautifully furnished. The kitchen was wonderful to cook in - all top line appliances with every kitchen item one could want (and all of a high quality). The bed was remarkably comfortable and we found that we had lots of room for all our clothing and gear in the dresser and closet. The bathroom is small but well equipped - again, the attention to detail was very evident. The neighbourhood is charming with a number of terrific restaurants right around the corner. There is a safeway right up the street which was handy for us as we ate a number of meals in the condo. We walked everywhere in Washingon and always felt safe. This location was absolutely perfect for us. The only thing I would change is that we had a tough time figuring out the cable so we ended up using the material loaded on our own ipads rather than the tv - when we go back (and we will) we'll get a better primer on that from Alan. But overall, I would recomment the place (and our host) highly and we so very much look forward to coming back next year.

Great Stay! Don't Hesitate!

  • 5 of 5

I needed place for consulting engagement in DC and found this on VRBO. I am also a VRBO owner so I have a good sense of what is expected from guests. Here is my advice: Don't hesitate renting this place. Clean, roomy, and lots of nice touches! This condo was ideally located in a very nice and safe neighborhood. Loads of restaurants and shops (grocery) right around the corner or nearby. I arrived late at night, and happily found a complimentary mini bar to help me settle in-- awesome and never have experienced that type of hospitality. Lots of nice touches around the condo (food, wine, candies). Thank you! Some minor issues: cable seems to pause at times which is irritating, some light switches are nonstandard (or maybe I'm nonstandard, very likely) which made my late arrival a bit of a challenge. After one night, I wanted to book this place for another stay but it was taken, Dang!

Location, location, location!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the Dupont condo for three nights. You can't beat the location--right in Dupont Circle and withing just blocks of great restaurants and nightlife. It was also nice having a grocery store right across the street. The condo itself was clean and well-appointed, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Alan and Peggy were very responsive and even accommodated a last-minute request for a parking space behind the unit. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone planning a visit to DC!

Nice location.poor communication and amenities

  • 2 of 5

We were not happy with your lack of of timely response.

Your tv barely worked in the living room and the tv in the bedroom didn't work at all.

There was little info and we could not find sheets for the sofa bed.

Had to use towels to cover the sofa bed the first night.

Thier location

could have been Easily explained if you would've left an information packet explaining the set up of your apartment. something for people to look at when entering your apartment.

We were left with one roll of toilet paper. We requested more but they never responded.

Access to the parking spot was a dangerous and cluttered basement hallway with an electrical cord across the pretty much filthy hallway.

You have a lot of nerve accepting payment from renters and then leave them to fend for themselves.

Owner's Response: Dear Corine and George, After reading your review I have to admit that I am very upset. Alan and I both spoke to you after the visit to try and make things right. In fact, we gave a pretty significant refund for being unable to find things that were actually there and TV's that were new & working in addition to a parking ticket for parking on a busy street in Washington, D.C. (clearly, street parking is not allowed in most cities, and its marked EVERYWHERE, no street parking). So, even though we have rarely received any review less than a 5 before, and I would not normally respond to a negative comment since it is your opinion, I am going to respond to this one. Our beautiful one-bedroom condo, has only one bedroom, and one dresser. There is also a wonderful pull out queen size couch. The sheets for the pull out couch are located in the bottom drawer of the one dresser. I agree that something in writing would have made it easier for you, but there's only so many places that the sheets could have been. And since we allowed you to check in very early (11:am) you should have had plenty of time to find them before bedtime. There is also only one bathroom in our condo, which holds one roll of toilet paper. Again, there is always extra in a cabinet in the kitchen, but obviously you could not find it. There is also a Safeway grocery store across the street that probably carries toilet paper. The original reservation was for 2 people, but it seems that there were more than 2, including a child (I hope, since the mattress pad was peed on). And you seemed to have no problem finding the complimentary liquor cabinet. When you originally asked for the reservation, several weeks before your stay, you asked for an extreme discount off of our regular rates, and we were unable to accommodate you. When you reached out again the day before your stay, we made it very clear that Alan was having heart surgery that same day. I apologize profusely that there were other things on my mind and I was not accessible enough for you. As far as the parking lot access, that area is common to the entire building. We try our best to make sure it stays neat and uncluttered, but we do not have total control of that. So I would say that you have a lot of nerve writing a review like this, after our agreeing to pay more than just your ticket via extra refund and most if not all "inconvenience" are your own fault. We have stayed in many rental properties, and can certainly "fend for ourselves".

Location! + Comfort + Little extras

  • 5 of 5

For a lot of visitors to Washington, the experience is similar to going to Disneyland where fascinating museums replace the amusement park rides. Staying in DuPont Circle gives you access to that, but it also allows you to experience a European style getaway with the incredible access to art and culture, but there is also the eye popping 19th Century architecture, the gourmet restaurants, and the eclectic shops. This rental is right in the heart of D.C.'s center of haute bourgeois life, and if you are a walker, you can get to Georgetown and the Mall on foot. The very convenient subway entrance provides the rest. This unit is very well equipped and spotless, and Alan takes good care of all our needs. We enjoyed our 4 night stay very much.
