A warmly decorated, comfortable, three bedroom, lakefront home designed to accommodate a large family or two smaller families. The bedrooms and dining area can accommodate up to10 people (6 adults/4 children), with play areas and quiet spaces for adults and kids alike.
Nestled among the treetops above Lake Anna, the Bird’s Nest provides a unique feeling to its residents and a special view of the lake and its natural surroundings. The main level provides ample connected space for socializing while cooking, dining, listening to music or watching movies in surround sound – all while overlooking the lake. Opening one of the three sliding glass doors on the window wall expands the living area onto the large deck, with its outdoor chairs, lounges and hot tub. The deck also includes a gas grill and dining table with chairs to expand dining options. The balance of sun and shade make the deck an inviting space for relaxation throughout the day and evening.
New shopping center with grocery, pizza and Chinese carry-out restaurants, veterinary clinic, ABC store and Redbox DVD only 2 miles away.
Easy Boating & Swimming: A walk down a staircase to the dock provides a boat slip with additional dock frontage for jet skis. You can put your boat and/or jet skis in the water at no cost at the nearby community boat ramp and keep your boat conveniently at the dock for the extent of your stay at the Birds Nest. Nearby marinas also rent boats and jet skis on a daily or weekly basis, if needed. A 10’ x 10’ area at the end of the dock provides ample space for sun bathing or relaxing between swims or floats in the lake. The dock is located in a No-Wake zone, allowing peaceful swimming, floating (in the provided tubes) and fishing. The No-Wake zone opens into a large cove that is away from the main lake and is perfect for learning to wake board, knee board, water ski or jet ski. It's also a great location for tubing with smaller children.
Indoor Activities: Movies, Books, Sports: Should weather keep you indoors, there is an extensive collection of fiction books, DVD/CD player, radio or your ipod/mp3 player. There are also puzzles, as well as family and adult-level board games. For the sports-minded, the lower level play room has a regulation, slate bed pool table with all needed accessories, and a regulation fooseball table. The play room also has its own satellite television and DVD player. The private, covered balcony off of the master bedroom also provides a cozy, quiet respite away from indoor household activities on a rainy day for reading or just relaxing.
Relaxation: Hot Tub and Fire Pit: The hot tub on the rear deck is convenient to the main rooms of the house and can seat 4-6 for a relaxing dip and conversation anytime of the day or night. Additionally, the fire pit in the front yard is suitable for evening storytelling, roasting marshmallows, making s'mores or otherwise extending a relaxing day into the night.
Great place to spend time with the family. Lots of time to bond, relax and enjoy the lake. Dock was easy to find from the lake and is located in a quiet cove which is nice for fishing and relaxing. Enjoyed going to Tim's on the water. Rooms were cozy and and a little small. Open kitchen and family room that leads out to the deck and hot tube very nice set up.
We arrived as the sun was setting and immediately walked down to the lake, the view was stunning! Especially this time of year the foliage was beginning to show and the dock was the perfect spot to be at dusk/dawn.
If you are a Where The Wild Things Are fan than you need to rent this place for the basement alone! We walked in and felt at home immediately. The pictures do not do this place justice. the amenities were great. The kitchen was fully stocked with kitchenware, we brought our own as a backup but it was not necessary.
The owner even took the time to bring out wood for the fireplace from the woods. they were also very friendly and nice to talk talk to. Overall they were very helpful and kind. I have already recommended this property to my friends/family.
It is close to Cooper vineyard & Lake Anna state park hiking trails.
We just had an awesome week on Lake Anna and it started with renting The Bird Nest through VRBO! I truly dealt with the owners not a rental agency and the owners were great! The process could not have been any easier; the owners responded promptly to my inquiry and there were no hidden fees. Now the best part, the Bird Nest is a beautiful home on a private cove that was deep enough to accommodate a 24 deep V boat and room at the dock for a second 21 footer. The house has every modern convenience one could ask for to include two flat screen TVs, Internet and a hot tub! This was by far one of the most satisfying and enjoyable vacations for our family to include our 12 year old Aussie, Kala!
We were very pleased from the time we began speaking with the owners through the time we received our returned deposits. The owners were great. The startup/shutdown procedures for the house are very well documented and easy to follow. It's a private/gated community which is a huge bonus for going on walks and runs as the the traffic is slow (mostly golf carts). The people in the community are so friendly. They actually wave when you drive through, some even converse with you and say pleasant things...
The house was clean upon arrival, everything was easy to find, the directions for the hot tub (which we used daily) are well written and simple to follow.
The house is beautiful and so well thought out. We didn't run out of things to do the entire week even with a rainy day. Having a Food Lion as well as a handful of eateries minutes down the road was a nice convenience
The dock is situated in a cove that is no wake. This is perfect for swimming, kayaking, and fishing (or just relaxing on the dock with a book). It took maybe 60 seconds for us to idle past the no wake buoys out to the go fast part of lake. In another 5-10 minutes we were out onto the main part of the lake.
We had a wonderful week at the house and were saddened on the day that we departed. We may have to stay for two weeks next summer, I believe we have found our annual summer vacation spot.
Thanks for a great and relaxing getaway.

We spent a weekend at this home with our family and dog. It was a very clean and comfortable home and perfectly suited our needs. We enjoyed the hot tub and used the dock for our boat and kayaks. The cove this house is in is perfect for kayaking. We will definitely rent this home again! The owners were also great to work with.
I have rented a lot of cabins and never done a review.
My friends and I met half way between TN and RI for a weekend with 2 babies and a 1 1/2 year old. We were excited to find a place that accommodated our needs. The cabin was well stocked but we ourselves had a number or frustrations. As a renter we had to do a LOT to use the cabin. Upon arrival we had to turn on the breakers for the well and water pump. We also had to bring ALL of our own linens. When driving a long way with a number of children this can be difficult. Also, in order to use the hot tub we had to add chemicals and check the water composition to make sure it was safe! We spent hours trying to get the hot tub ready for use.
While the owners seem very nice I was frustrated with their key policy. They mail the gate key and house key to you and you are expected to mail the keys back to the owner. We had to make sure we arrived before our friends so that they could get into the community. I mailed the keys back to the owner the day after we returned from vacation. The owner informed me through email a few days later that the keys were lost in the mail and that I would be charged a $50 lost key fee. The fee was ridiculously high especially since it was no fault of mine that the keys were lost in the mail. Then, it took her over two weeks to get my deposit check back to me!
If you do decide to rent this cabin be aware that you need to return keys in a padded envelope!
