An Oasis in Ayvalik

Our two week stay was fabulous thanks to the location of this very well maintained and care for house. The garden provides great shelter from the heat and the patio area is a perfect spot for breakfast, lunch and especially dinner admiring the sunset over the island of Cunda. The house is tastefully furnished, quality linens, functional kitchen, and nice bathroom. The neighborhood is very quiet and it is walking distance from the center of town. Driving up to the house is not recommended, but there is parking down the street near the tea garden.

Amazing house with fantastic view

I was very fortunate to select this house for my stay in Ayvalik.

The house is truly amazing with all the amenities you can ask for and the best feature is its fantastic view of the bay and proximity to downtown. We were four people in our group and we all agreed that we made a wonderful choice renting Britta's gem, we would definitely highly recommend this gem of the property to anyone who wants to visit Ayvalik.

Fabulous old house

This was our second stay in the house. It's beautiful - lovingly restored and artistically appointed, with a lovely walled garden complete with flowers and shrubs, fruit trees, a palm tree and small lawn, plus marvellous views across the bay from the terrace. The owner goes to a lot of trouble to make sure you feel welcome; there's everything you need if you want to cook or if you just want to laze and wander and its scrupulously clean too. Ayvalik is only a short walk through atmospheric, narrow cobbled streets where the friendly locals smile at you and exchange the traditional greetings and where you'll see old Turkey, the way it used to be, complete with horses and carts. Boat trips from the harbour are great if you want a full day out swimming and seeing the islands, or you can potter over to Cunda on a shorter boat trip or drive to the more distant beaches on the island or at nearby Badavut. Ayvalik's street market on Thursday is a wonder not to miss too, as is a drive across the mountain road through pine forests to Bergamon and the ancient site of Pergamon and Asclepion. Plenty of good restaurants in Ayvalik too and the bars by the harbour are wonderfully relaxing places just to sit and stare and enjoy the scene. Thoroughly recommended.

Boutique Home

We stayed for over a week at this special home. The house has all the amenities and more than you could want. The living space is charming, the garden lush and tranquil and the terrace has a view to die for. The property is well maintained and the owner made us confident that should we need anything our needs would be looked after. We had a wonderful time in this absolutely boutique style home, it was in a quiet location nd the view day and night made our vacation very very special. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this Home to even the most particular family. Thank you Britta for your wonderful home.

Ayvalik Special Boutique Home

We stayed for a little over a week at this wonderful old Home. It was a quiet and allowed us to feel part of the community. The view is outstanding and spending time on the terrace was absolutely wonderful. The kitchen has all the amenities one requires, the quality of the home furnishings are exceptional - four Stars. The garden and terrace allow for privacy and give a real mediterranean feeling. We could not have asked for more. Wonderful home and the owner Britta is terrific to deal with. We highly recommend this lovely home and wonderful locale.

ein absolut tolles Haus!

Wir haben uns im Haus Palmengarten sehr wohl gefühlt und vor allem den tollen Ausblick beim Frühstück bzw. am Abend genossen. Das Haus ist mit allem, was man braucht ausgestattet. Die Vermieterin hat sich sehr fürsorglich um uns gekümmert und auch zwischendurch mal nachgefragt, ob wir was brauchen. Ein sehr herzlicher und willkommener Service! Die Umgebung von Ayvalik ist absolut empfehlenswert, wenn man Urlaub abseits der typischen Massentourismusgebiete machen möchte. Wunderschöne, kaum besuchte Buchten auch im Hochsommer, wenn man es lieber etwas lebhafter möchte, kann man auch am Strand von Sarimsakli seinen Spaß haben.

In a few minutes you can reach the Historie city center. At the harbour there are sunny caffees, inviting restaurants and many shops.

To the sandy beach in Sarimsakli, which is seven kilometer long ore to the small bays on the the peninsula Alibey, which is famous because oft the fish restaurants, you can get in a short time with busses or the local taxies. The small islands of Ayvalik are inviting for boattrips, for divers there are underwater paradises.

With the ferryboat you can reach daily the greek island Lesbos. The airport in Edremit is reachable within 30 minutes, to Izmir it takes less than two hours. Trips to Assos and Bergama are recommendable.
