A great little cottage on the water.
A quiet location, perfect for observing the dramatic tides and nature. Enjoyed the canoes and kayaks, and convenient setting close to everything in the Boothbay area.
Great rustic cottage on the water
We enjoyed our week staying in this cottage. Staying right on the water provided a wonderful view and enabled us to enjoy the wildlife that inhabit the cove. Access to multiple kayaks and canoes allowed us to venture out around the island, up to the store, or out into the river to visit seals and explore some of the other islands. The deck is the perfect place to hang out and enjoy the view even if the weather isn't perfect. If you are expecting all the amenities of a modern home, then this is not the place for you. It has the basics you need to enjoy your stay. Wi-fi and a TV are available but you will find you use it sparingly or not at all. Access to Boothbay Harbor and other key points of interest around the mid-coast made it so easy to get out and enjoy what the region has to offer. The owners took great care in making sure the cottage was ready for our arrival and provided plenty of options for us to consider during our stay. Definitely a great place to stay if you want to enjoy coastal Maine.
I loved it
I have been looking for a very long time to find a place like this. It was so relaxing and calming having the ocean fall and rise right below us. It gave me the old cottage feel that I remember growing up with. I would definitely recommend this to people and families that want to relax and play on the water. They have a tv, but no cable. They do have wi fi if you are needing to stream something for entertainment, but it is really a great place to forget about that stuff and just sit and relax and read or play games to connect with your family. If you are looking for a luxury cottage this is not the place for you. It is rustic, but very clean and comfortable. Because you are not on regular city services you do have to be efficient with your use of the water services, but that is not to say you cannot have a shower each day, you just can't leave the taps running all the time. Enjoy this gem of a place, we sure did. The owner, Iris, is a very pleasant person and makes a huge effort to make sure you enjoy your stay.
A great place for water recreation, sightseeing, and relaxing
We treasure our week at this cottage every summer. It's about as close as you can get to living on the water without actually being in a boat. It's only a matter a steps to a canoe or kayak for a restful paddle around the island or a more ambitious expedition; or you can jump in the car and be in downtown Boothbay Harbor in a few minutes. We enjoy our meals on the deck over the water and love to watch the sun set over the cove from the big picture window inside the cozy cottage. Or you can just relax on the deck and watch the herons, ospreys, and the occasional kayaker or lobster boat. This is a little gem on one of the most scenic spots on the Maine coast.
A little piece of heaven on earch
We will be going back to this idyllic location for our third time. If you love the water, and treasure the idea of watching the moon set as you lie in bed in the morning - this place is for you. The kayaking is fabulous and the water views from the deck are ever-changing. We practically lived on the beautiful deck, which was a wonderful place to entertain relatives and friends who were also vacationing in the area.
Very close to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, one of the top tourist attractions in Maine.
