Overview

About the property

San Juan Riverfront log home with 2 acres, 3 bedrooms, loft bedroom and 2 baths.

Mac's Hideaway a log cabin home is the perfect cozy abode for a romantic and charming getaway or a family and friends holiday! This cozy home sits directly on the banks of the soothing San Juan River with 2 acres at the end of the Cul de Sac, and the San Juan National Forest across the river, so quiet and private. Our home located in the San Juan River Village has the perfect Pagosa location on the west side of Pagosa which is less populated and feels more like the real Colorado. The drive to town and the Hot Springs is only 6 miles or 10 minutes. Wolf Creek Ski Resort is just 16 miles or 20 minutes away and this is the most gorgeous and breathtaking drive in Pagosa! We are the nearest community to Wolf Creek Ski Resort and the only community on the river.

WOLF CREEK is known for having the "Most Snow in Colorado, Year after Year!" and the staff is great there as well as the skiing/snowboarding.

I must admit WC has the best Green Chili Burgers too, along with incredible powder and skiing all at very reasonable costs for both skiing and food.

View the SJ river from your beautiful private deck and log home, while listening to the calming and rapid sounds, as the river rushes by you. Relax in the bubbling Jacuzzi for 6, read a book while swaying in the hammock, fly fish, tube and kayak right in your own backyard.

Down the road in our neighborhood there is also a private stocked trout pond called Rainbow Pond for the young at heart to paddle boat, fish, kayak, float in a tube and paddle board. Fishing for Trout there is fun for kids! So walk down the road with your kids, their poles and experience old times like "Andy of Mayberry!"

Regardless of what you do, you will discover the peace of nature at MAC'S HIDEAWAY which is surrounded by 3 million acres of the San Juan National Forest.

We provide high speed wireless Internet, and Direct TV. There is Sony flat screen TV/ CD player/DVR and Sirius radio in the living room with Bose speakers inside and out! There is also a small flat screen TV/DVR in the master bedroom.

Our home is completely furnished with loads of Southwest charm and warmth. Beautiful antiques, art, and handcrafted custom made log furniture, makes this home picture perfect! It has all amenities, washer, dryer, antique reproduction stove and oven, microwave and small appliances. It has an antique wood burning stove fireplace, circa 1890, which can be used for burning wood in the right season.

The Master bedroom has a queen bed, sitting area with a small couch and full bath with a antique claw foot tub and shower with 2 sinks.

There is exterior loft outside the master bedroom door with a full size bed, dresser and nightstand. The loft is perfect for kids or adults to sleep and especially a pleasant spot for taking a nap or reading a book too! This is one of my favorite inside places to relax with the skylight to see the stars and a nice widow overlooking the river.

The second bedroom downstairs called the "Trout Room" has a queen custom made bed of Aspen and a sitting area with grandfather bamboo love seat.

The third bedroom downstairs called the "Bear, Deer and Elk Room" has a custom aspen log bunk bed with the double bed on the bottom and a twin bed on top! Children especially love this room but it works for big people too! The 2 bedrooms downstairs share a full bath in the hallway and it also serves as your guest bath.

Our deck is completely furnished with a 6 person Jacuzzi, custom handmade adirondeck chairs, log dining table and benches. There is also a hammock to relax, take a nap or read a book by the river in summer. Any season bring your favorite books!

My favorite part of the deck besides the Jacuzzi is the outdoor Kokopelli fire pit. We also have a Weber natural gas grill for all your delicious BBQ's in any season and a Weber charcoal grill too!

Plus, we have a campfire area in the yard during summer, fall and spring with handmade log benches for larger gatherings. Don't forget to bring your guitar for campfire sing- a - longs!

We hope y'all come and stay at our paradise on earth, "Mac's Hideaway" where dreams do come true! Once there, you'll never want to leave and you'll definitely want to come again and again!

We are so honored that we have had some guests that have been coming to Mac's Hideaway for 10-17 years and truly our home is their home too!

If you are visiting with a large group of friends Dancing River and River Lodge are located almost right next door to our home and also available for rent. The owners are friends of mine that came to visit me and ended up purchasing their own homes because they loved our neighborhood and Pagosa!

In summer don't forget to fill the hummingbird feeders and sit in the rockers in amazement to watch them feed, especially in the early morning and at sunset! I love this activity! Mix one part water and 4 parts sugar and bring to a boil and then fill feeders. Any left overs can be refrigerated.

We know you'll enjoy and love our home like we do!

Best wishes ~ Mac

About Owner/Mary Ann Camacho aka "MAC"

Mac loves enjoying happy hour on the San Juan River at sunset and during the night while listening to the sounds of the river and stargazing above! I start my day out drinking my coffee outside too in the spring, summer and fall.

Our family lives in Miami, Fl. but my heart is always at our log home in the gorgeous San Juan Mountains and Pagosa Springs! I'm a full time realtor with Coldwell Banker in Miami. I have 5 wonderful children, and 3 precious grand babies, so escaping to our hideaway is a total delight for me and my family. We've had many years of making loving and happy family memories in our home, as we've watched our 5 children grow into adults and of course we just keep getting older! Once in awhile, we love to sneak off alone or I love my girlfriend trips to our cabin, which both are amazingly fun, relaxing and pleasurable times! Now we are looking forward to enjoying our home with our precious grand children, so very blessed! I hope you'll love our home, as much as we do and create your family and romantic memories to last a lifetime! Love Mac & family!

Owner/Mary Ann Camacho aka "MAC" purchased this cabin in 1994

Why Owner/Mary Ann Camacho aka "MAC" chose Pagosa Springs

I love that our home is on the San Juan River! Nothing better than to sit and relax while viewing & hearing the sounds of the San Juan flow by. You can fly fish and kayak right in your own backyard. Take a day or nightime soak in the Jacuzzi or take a nap in the hammock! No better place than our deck to sit with friends/family or read a book in solitude. There is a outdoor firepit for enjoyment or making smores after a nice BBQ dinner on the Weber natural gas grill. Incredible stars at night as you enjoy the Jacuzzi or a camp fire in all 4 seasons. Skiing-Jacuzzi-hiking-jacuzzi- San Juan River- Jacuzzi- Mountain views too! Got the picture? Heaven on Earth!

What makes this cabin unique

Enjoy soaking and relaxing in the Jacuzzi day or night as you gaze and enjoy the sounds of the San Juan River passing By you. I love to have an outdoor fire next to the river and sit in the gorgeous custom made Adirondack chairs either sipping my coffee or wine, depending on the time of day. There is nothing more peaceful and amazing than the constellation of stars each night as you sit out on our deck, you feel like you are in heaven! Our log home is so warm and cozy, filled with southwestern charm that just brings a warm embrace and smile to your face the minute you arrive! Memories made in our log home will for certain bring you back again and again! Cheers...MAC

I guess I better say this is the worst place we have ever stayed, SO EVERYONE WILL STOP GOING TO MACS AND WE CAN HAVE A BETTER CHANCE OF GOING WHEN WE WANT TOO. No, we have been going not just to Colorado, but MACS HIDEAWAY for over 15 years and would not think of doing anything different.

Owner's Response: You're too are funny! I need to give you a personal key and a framed picture in the cabin. Lol ~ I had a couple celebrate their 40th wedding Anniversary at our cabin and then they came for the next 20 years, until health matters occurred and they could longer visit our home. I put a picture of them in a frame and I then sent it to them at the cabin for their 50th anniversary and told them to place it in (their cabin) somewhere they liked! ! I also sent them a gift certificate to Alley House Grille, with a classical CD and a bottle of wine to sit by the river they loved! They use to come the entire month of August, year after year. The next visit with my family, my kiddos walked in and said, "Do we have grandparents we don't know about, Mom?" Point in matter ~ I love to share our home with people that love it as much as we do! One day you'll 100% get your frame too! Thanks Jill & Phil for your years of loyalty and staying with us at Mac's Hideaway! Love you guys, Mi Casa Es Su Casa! See you next year! Book early, so you get the days you want for your stay. P.S. I hope you liked the new cornhole game! Cheers ~ Mac :-) xoxo

Cozy cabin on the river

  • 4 of 5

Charming cabin right outside of Pagosa Springs. The large deck overlooking the

river was awesome. We made a fire everynight and sat on the deck and looked at the river.

So relaxing. Great location. Everything you need in the house.

Owner's Response: Hi John and Sarita, I'm glad your family had a great time! I hope you were able to use the new log benches in the yard by the river too for your s'mores! We haven't been there yet to use them but we hope to come out in September for fall and the Color Balloon Fest and use them at that time. We also love to sit on the deck or in the Jacuzzi with a fire and just stargaze by the river each night. I hope you got a chance to get in your ATV riding, hiking and fly fishing too, plus hopefully a toss or two of our new cornhole game. Go USA! Thank you for taking the time to write this when Texas is suffering from the aftermath and continued damages and floods of Hurricane Harvey. Our family home is in Miami, Fl. so we are feeling Texan's challenges, anxiety, suffering and losses. We are keeping y'all and your friends, neighbors and the great state of Texas in our thoughts and prayers. Thanks for stayiń at our Hideaway and we hope you come visit us again real soon! Cheers ~ Mac & family!

Getaway that's close to it all

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in the San Juan River Village before and loved the location and easy access to town. But MAC's Hideaway was just what we needed. The extra outdoor space and privacy was absolutely perfect. The yard was great for tossing around the football, playing a game of cornhole or just letting a 9 year old run off some extra energy. The sounds of the river and the hot tub were just what we needed to relax after a long day of hiking. The hummingbird feeders were always busy with too many hummingbirds to count. I loved sitting in the porch swing with my morning coffee and watching them. When we finally made our way indoors,we were just as comfortable. The beds were all cozy as was the living room furniture. I loved all the decor indoors and out. We enjoyed having the 2 screen doors open to the back deck and bringing the sounds of the river inside. MAC was so helpful with so many suggestions for Pagosa and the surrounding areas. We could definitely tell she wanted us to enjoy her home and our trip! We will definitely look up MAC on our next trip to Pagosa!!

Owner's Response: Hi Jessica & family, I'm so happy your family enjoyed all the things we love about our home in the summer. I love my quiet coffee time in the wee early hours in my rocker, as I watch and listen to the river and my beloved hummingbirds. They are truly a hoot to watch! Many times, I'm awake early enough to see our annual Momma deer and her babies get up from our side yard and head across the river into the forest. I see them come home to our yard prior to sunset too, when I'm having my happy hour on the deck and grilling our BBQ. They are so precious to watch! I'm so glad your son loved the mining tour at Creede which is one of my favorite mountain towns. I love Creede's Repertory Theater and going over for lunch at the original Kips Grille and a mantinee. Although, now that we have Thingamajig Theater, I really don't get over there as often. We treasure our good times on the deck and in the jacuzzi too and have made so many great stories and memories on that deck! We especially love to have a fire and stargaze from the Jacuzzi as the river flows by. I know y'all love Pagosa and now I'm thrilled you have added our precious cabin to your list. We hope to see you next summer! Have a great school year! Thank you again for staying with us ~ please come back soon! You were the BEST GUESTS! P.S. I'm thrilled you loved our new addition- the famous Cornhole game! I can't wait to get there and play with my clan! Cheers ~ Mac

House was totally fantastic!!

  • 5 of 5

My family enjoyed this house so much. Pagosa is such a great town and this house is located in a nice community just a few minutes north of downtown Pagosa. Close to everything you want to do. Hiking Fishing Horseback Riding White water Rafting - is all very close and easy to get to. Mary Ann has everything that you will need for a great stay. We used the fireplace on the river each night (kids loved making smores). The setting is so peaceful and relaxing. If you are wanting a peaceful getaway in the mountains or looking for an action filled vacation spot - Mac's Hideaway is your place to stay in Pagosa.

Thank you again Mary Ann for having us.

Owner's Response: Howdy again, Mark! I'm glad you didn't get lost because our home is (east of Town) by 6 miles! LoL! Thank you for being such fun guests! I enjoyed all your pictures of your family vacation! Your family is adorable! I hope you had fun playing cornhole, my family just loves playing it with cold beer and good tunes playing! It's always a big family competition and fun time for even the grand babies! You sure were busy folks during your stay in Pagosa! I think you must need new tires with all the activities you all did! I'm glad your 2 girls enjoyed the smores at night by the river, always a favorite with us too! Especially, with our new glow in the dark smore sticks! I hope you remembered to put them out in the sunshine during the day! I'll miss all your fun text messages and pictures! We hope y'all come back real soon, like real soon! It was our pleasure having your precious and fun family! Have a great school year and please keep in touch! Cheers & Best Wishes ~ Mac & family!

Wow! What an extradorinary family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you so very much for having us at your beautiful cabin! This place was amazing, the owner Maryanne did not miss one detail! She has the home equipt so thoughtfully for all her guests, including the kiddos. The home was more beautiful in person than the photos depict! My family and I have 4 children and we travel frequently. I have to say this place has all homes we've stayed in beat. The memories you can make are like what you'd imagine in a dream! My children loved the tire swing on the porch, the hot tub that overlooked the beautiful river, the smores shared by the fire pit right next to the river...not to mention waking up every morning with coffee by the water. Just bliss! Also, Maryanne was so thoughtful and helpful throughout our entire stay. She always had wonderful ideas of places to visit and knew just where to go. The most helpful owner I've worked with yet! Thank you Maryanne for all of your hospitality. I felt at home and didn't want to leave, let alone get up from your super comfy beds! We will be back for sure again for more memories!

Owner's Response: Hi Debbie, Wow! I'm so glad y'all had an amazing time at our home! Our children grew up there every summer and the holidays. Now some of them are starting families of their own and I hope my grand babies will enjoy Mac's Hideaway as much as they did and your family did too! My first grand baby girl, my daughter and son-in-law stayed with me for 2 weeks last summer and we had the best family time together. My nephew, his wife and baby came too! Both babies 18 -22 months old really had a wonderful time. Of course, we had to watch them by the river and on the deck. Mostly we played in the side yard with them and in the nice fresh mountain air. We walked the neighborhood everyday and they loved it, especially going to Rainbow Pond down the road and taking a paddle boat ride. At night once the babies were in bed we had adult Jacuzzi time, firepit and stargazing which is my favorite time of the day! Thank you so much for such a nice review and loving our home like we do! The minute that I walk up our deck and hear those river sounds and see my San Juan my stress disappears and my soul is filled with happiness, so I know exactly how you felt there! I literally cry every time we have to leave. How did your interview go for your new teaching position? I hope well! I hope y'all come back really soon! Thanks for being such wonderful and fun guests! Your family pics were great, so thanks for sharing with us! Many Blessings & Cheers to your family! ~ Mac and family!

What a wonderful stay at Mac's Hideaway!

  • 5 of 5

My group of friends and I had an amazing experience and can't wait to return to Pagosa Springs and Mac's Hideaway. Mac was so friendly, accommodating, and had the best recommendations. The house was clean, well-stocked and furnished, warm and cozy. We had plenty of room to spread out in the living room to relax by the fire or in the kitchen to prepare and enjoy a meal. We slept soundly in the comfortable bedrooms too. The scenery around the property was spectacular. After our fun days of skiing at Wolf Creek and snowmobiling, we spent evenings either on the back deck relaxing in the large hot tub while gazing up at the stars or cozy'ed up by the fire. We recommend this house to anyone interested in finding their home away from home in Colorado.

Owner's Response: We can't wait to have you all back! I'm so glad you had a fabulous time at our log home! What a beautiful testimony. We all love our days at Wolf Creek but love to come home and hang the rest of night with a fire, good warm dinner, music and laughter about our day. Then the ones with more energy make a fire outside and head into the Jucuzzi to soak those tired bones before bed, some watch a movie and some play a board game or cards! The even more adventurous ones some nights head to the springs to end their night with their PJ's in hand! We are so excited and appreciative of all the nice folks we have stay at our home, which love and take care of our home like we do! Hope to see you all again real soon! Thanks for the nice review! Cheers ~ Mac
