Enjoy lake living in this cozy loft-styled Lake Charlevoix cottage. Totally renovated in 2001, this 1100 square foot home offers all the amenities of home and more. Double sliding glass doors open up right on water. Your drive into the Jordan Valley in the Fall is spectacular as the hardwoods show off their colors in the Fall. If you're a boater, you'll love being just steps from a full-service marina, but feel free to tie up your boat to our cottage dock.
Great swimming for small children: shallow & sandy bottom. Small deck right on the seawall is great for sipping morning coffee! Outside you'll find a wonderful shade tree, BBQ grill and fire pit ready for family fun.
Autumn on the South Arm: Autumn is spectacular on Lake Charlevoix, one of Northern Michigan's most beautiful inland lakes. Take in the beautiful fall colors as you drive through the Jordan Valley or take a canoe or raft trip down the Jordan River. Cozy up next to the fireplace on cold nights and enjoy coffee dockside on sunny fall mornings.
Location! Location! Location! This cottage is situated in the middle of it all. By land, it is just 20 minutes from Charlevoix, 20 minutes from Boyne, 30 minutes from Gaylord and 45 minutes from Petoskey. If fine dining is in your plan, you'll be thrilled to learn that The Rowe Inn is just minutes away in Ellsworth.
Not ready for fall fun? Think ahead to the winter wonderland of Northern Michigan. For skiers, Boyne Mountain is just 20 minutes away, and snowmobilers will find groomed trails just steps from the cottage door.
I stayed at this cottage over Labor Day weekend and was extremely pleased with the location, cleanliness, and friendly neighbors. It is completely updated and very fresh and open but with the privacy for bedrooms that many cottages do not have. I plan on going there again once the leaves begin their show. It is only 45 minutes from Traverse City and so easy to get to from lower MIchigan.
The location was perfect for us. The cottage was very clean, and decorated beautifully, and stocked with all the necessities. It was very nice to be able to sit out back, have a bonfire and enjoy the lake. We hope to return next year.
This is a great place to stay! The cottage is clean and so nicely decorated and has every amenity to provide a relaxing weekend on the lake! The cottage sits right on the water offering breath taking views, gorgeous sunrises and a bonfire pit for sitting fireside on the lake singing campfire songs and star gazing, we even heard the loons! We also utilized the bbq grill for a delicious cook out. The cottage is centrally located for any scenic drive of Northern Michigan. We traveled into Boyne City and visited their Farmers Market and also took a Sunday drive through Charlevoix, Traverse City and over to Glen Arbor. What a fabulous weekend we had, we highly recommend a stay here! Thank you for such a great place to stay...
we will be back!
I stayed here in October, 2014, and could not recommend this place any higher. As soon as I walked in the door, I felt a relaxing peace in this charming, beautiful decorated cottage. The tall ceilings and open views took my breath away. Honestly, I could not think of one negative thing to say about it, and will absolutely be coming back to this charming cottage, and am very much looking forward to enjoying the summer weather as well! The town had some great restaurants, with home-style cooking. I especially enjoyed Murray's Bar and Grill. The owner was very easy to work with, and made sure that the place was sparkling clean prior to our arrival. I highly recommend this cottage as a peaceful, charming getaway in Northern Michigan.
What a find! As an amateur landscape photographer, I was looking for a long weekend get-away to snap some cool photos when I happened upon this little cottage perfectly situated on the South Arm of Lake Charlevoix. What a treat to stay right on the water and witness the miraculous sunrise every morning while enjoying my morning cup of coffee. This place is clean, very well maintained and perfect for anyone looking for a relaxing stay in Northern Michigan. While there, I explored the downtown Charlevoix area and found great restaurants, quaint places to shop and awesome picture taking opportunities!
Once I booked, the owner of the cottage contacted me with all necessary information. She was very professional and wanted to make sure that I had good experience. I sure did and I can’t wait to return! I would recommend this place to anyone. Thanks for making my vacation so enjoyable!
I have given great consideration before writing this review, I felt that we needed to share our experience. We recently rented this cottage and were very excited about our upcoming vacation.
Upon arrival our hearts dropped as soon as we pulled into the driveway. This cottage (the back of the actual house) sits 15 feet off M66, which is a major 55 mph two lane North-South State Trunkline Highway. The traffic on this highway is continuous with high speeds all day and night.
One of the two bedrooms sits at the very back of the house, this bedroom contains a window air conditioner that works great but isn't sealed very well, when a semi or large vehicle passes the house, the window covering actually moves as the truck passes ( no joke ). The road noise is unbearable in this room. You feel as if one slip of a driver and the truck will enter your room. The second bedroom is located upstairs in the loft, so there is a little separation as the bathroom upstairs blocks a little of the noise. Your also are unable to leave any doors or windows open if you want to be able to carry on a conversation in the cottage, the noise is too great.
The property is fairly small so even sitting outside (lakeside) is very noisy. This is definitely not a cottage for a family with small children or pets. You are way too close from the entry door to the highway, perhaps 20 feet ( knowing how children can dart out ) this would be extremely dangerous.
We felt that the pictures of the cottage on the inside did reflect the cottages interior very well, the outside pictures were taken very carefully to avoid any knowledge or sight of how close you were to the highway. We felt that the outside pictures were deceptive.
Another small issue, small only because we kept the door wall closed due to the traffic noise is that the door wall screen is badly ripped and packing tape has been placed over it to keep it in place. If you choose to keep the door wall open after dusk, the insects would have easy access to the inside of the cottage.
On a positive note, the owner was easy to work with and the cottage was clean upon arrival. This experience has taught us that we will need to see the any cottage before renting, as pictures can be very deceptive if taken carefully.
