World Class Breathtaking: On Top of the World Yellowstone

Overview

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8) double your living space option

Yellowstone's Top of the World features spectacular views of the Centennial Range, Sawtell Mountain, Henry's Lake, Meadow Creek Valley, and the Yellowstone Plateau. This precious home offers you all of the modern amenities while still treating you to a quiet and serene experience. Located on acres of trees and flowering meadows and surrounded by the Targhee National Forest, the Yellowstone's Top of the World's balcony and multitier viewing are perfect to observe the frequent wildlife and dazzling sunsets.

Each day one is able to choose any of the numerous nearby outdoor activities or picnic in Yellowstone National Park which is only minutes away. In less than two hours you are able to visit Grand Targhee Ski Resort, Jackson Hole, Grand Teton National Park, St. Anthony's sand dunes, Virginia City, or Big Sky.

Of particular interest are the hundreds of miles of bike and snow mobile trails that begin at your back door and the world class fishing found on Henry's Lake and the Snake River.

This property (as seen in the last photo) shares two separate homes, referred to as the lower level and the upper level. The lower level home is featured in this VRBO listing. Only one group of guests rent the property at a time. The owners (Pam and Dr. John) sometimes occupy the upper level home between June 10 and August 15 while they maintain and improve the grounds and ensure that everything is perfect for our guests. Pam and I are onsite to cater to the needs of our guests. Some of the larger groups choose to rent both levels to double the living area to 3000 sf. Photos 1-19 show the lower level and photos 20-23 depict the upper level. During a typical year, about 30% of our guests rent the whole property and the other 70% are perfectly happy with the lower level. The downstairs has its own private entry, perfectly flat, and exclusive use of all the facilities, hot tub, patio, fire ring terrace, grill, dining and picnic tables. Guests in the downstairs home feel as if they own the mountain. We assure you that this is the most exclusive setting you can find. There may be a couple of mountain properties near Jackson for double the price. Refer to the reviews to see what our previous guests think of the Top of the World.

We would like to point out how convenient Top of the World is to Yellowstone Park. There are 5 entrances to the Park. How long of a drive is it from the nearest town to Old Faithful?: South-Jackson 2:08; East-Cody 2:30; Northeast-Red Lodge 3:36; North-Gardiner 1:33; West Yellowstone 0:50. 95% of the VRBO HOMES in the West Yellowstone market are over 10 minutes away from West Yellowstone. There are over 1000 VRBO sites in the "Yellowstone Country" category. That means that Top of the World is in the top 1% for all VRBO listings in the Yellowstone region for convenience to the Park. It is only 12-15 minutes to the West Gate from Top of the World. You get a world-class experience without being crowded into a West Yellowstone motel nor in close proximity to other subdivision homes. In addition, there are many incredible hiking and biking trails, boating, river floats, waterfalls, springs, atv rentals, horseback riding, and wildlife viewing withing a 20 minute drive of the cabin. It doesn’t get any better than this. Top of the World.

A phenomenal experience

  • 5 of 5

The view, setting, accommodations, decor and hospitality were phenomenal and unparalleled. John and Pam are awesome, and made sure that we had everything we needed, and even more. They became friends and it was a meaningful and educational experience to get to know them. They were so kind and gracious to us and our 3 boys, and we truly felt right at home (except that our home in Georgia doesn't have a stunning view of snow-capped mountains and a lake, nor a beautiful lodge-like decor that is heart-warming, as this one does!).

The house we stayed in had everything we needed and more. We did all of our cooking and food prep, and it was super easy in the full kitchen. It has full set of cookware and all of the tools and appliances to cook like we do at home. The grill was great also for hamburgers. The washer/dryer are great to have right there next to the kitchen. The interior is so comfortable and relaxing. With two large beds in each room we had our 3 boys bunk in one room and we stayed in the other. There is even a guitar, which we enjoyed playing one evening, though after that we were up early every day (6 days) to go to Yellowstone and getting back late. Oh, and the boys loved jumping in the hot tub at the end of the day and relaxing.

The proximity to Yellowstone is unbeatable. An easy drive. We got to the front gate in 15 minutes. The drive up the mountain was easy and fun. We took the advice of others and had a 4 wheel drive (a Nissan Armada). It was perfect and I had a blast driving to and from the house. I wouldn't consider it really "off-road" because the road is very well defined, but a 4 wheel drive is helpful and for me, made it really fun to drive.

I would rent out this house again in a heartbeat and if/when we go back I'm not even going to look at other properties. "They don't get no better than this!"

Owner's Response: Our Top of the World attracts the most incredible families. Tyler, Linda, and Boys, you are certainly one of these. Pam and I make it our mission to facilitate a mountain experience equal to the wonders of Yellowstone National Park. No need for your return from the Park to be a letdown. The natural beauty of the Top of the World will take your breath away.

Amazing place to stay, we love it !!!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was just great! The location was awesome. From the first day John drove the john deere all the way down to lead us back to the mountain house, we feel the warmest welcome from John and Pam. Everyday they don't bother on when we leave in the morning or when we come home in the night, but they will not sleep until all guests are home safely in the evening no matter how late it is. When we are out, they clean the rooms, take out trash, even do laundry for us. The rooms are warm and cozy and comfortable with all amenities like kitchen, cookware, hot showers, and hot tub- kids love the hot tub. The view to see the Henry's lake is amazing. We love it!!! Five Stars!!

Pleine nature et convivialite a Yellowstone

  • 5 of 5

Owner's Response: Thank you Florence for your lovely impressions of our home on the mountain. Our mission here is to facilitate memories of a lifetime that far exceed the usual vacation home or condo experience. For future guests, I have attached an English translation of this review: FULL NATURE AND CONVIVIALITY At a distance of 10 miles from the west entrance of Yellowtone Park (which is very little in view of the grerat distances that one traverses in all directions in the Park itself) a house placed on a hillside among the trees with a wonderful view of the valley, the lake and the mountains behind. The dreamlike decor is deserving. The dirt road access is impressive but in a high clearance vehicle goes up easily. We arrived at the top, the villa (of which we rented the ground floor with two bedrooms, 2 baths, kitchen and living room) is well equipped, and includes two garden tables, a BBQ and a corner fire pit. Because it rained a couple of afternoons, we were unable to use them but we were well accommodated on the coffee table in the living room. Pam and John are adorable. They occupy the upper level and were always available for tips on hikes and activities. John had advised us on a hike outside the park close to the house and because we could not find the trail head, we called him and he immediately offered to personally show us the start of the trail.. In the meantime, we located the beginning of the hike. We appreciated that he was ready to help us. We also exchanged cooking recipes (peach cobbler for chocolate mousse) and our favorite cooking sites with Pam. In short, we forged a close relationship with the hosts. and enjoyed some very pleasant conversations. They did everything possible to make us feel at home. They added a measure of "soul" to this type of trip that often is missing in sterile vacation rentals.

WONDERFUL!!!!! - Truly on top of the mountain

  • 5 of 5

This is one of the best vacation rentals we have stayed at. Everything from service, amenities, views was fantastic. The only downside is the 10 min drive to go from the highway to the top of the mountain. Once you get to the top, you will know that the short 10 min drive was absolutely worth it.

We were a group of 6 who got to the bottom of the hill close to midnight. John was nice enough to meet us there and let us follow him to the house. He showed us around the house and made sure we had everything we needed. The two bedrooms have two queen beds. Each bedroom has an attached bathroom. The kitchen has some essentials with pots and pans. There is also a fire pit outside. The house is beautifully designed to work as a vacation rental. I would strongly recommend spending as much time as you can at the house.

Closest eating/grocery options are in West Yellowstone which is about 25 minutes to get to. Stock up on your way up.

I am sure this place has potential to make great vacation memories.

Very nice, spacious and fun place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Plenty of room for our 3 kid 4 adults on the lower floor. Great views from the patio and hot tub. So many fun things to do close to the cabin. Yellowstone gate is only 15 min away also.

Owner's Response: These guests really took advantage of all the fun activities offered at the Top of the World. Your vacation doesn't have to end when you drive out of the Park. Enjoy the morning serenity as you sip your coffee, tea, or juice. Have breakfast outdoors. Step down to the lower terrace and admire the view from a totally different perspective. Meditate on the flowers. Take a hot tub and ease all of those muscles you used to explore the Park. At sunset, gather around the fire pit. Hike up the mountain and be amazed at all the different views. Head up to the abandoned ski lift and marvel at the once spine tingling black diamond runs. Escape to our hidden bench in the Douglas Fir grove. Eat your meals outdoors on one of the two large picnic tables. If you want to have fun after leaving the Park, you should be staying here.

Awesome moment in Yellowstone

  • 5 of 5

I had great moment with my family members. I stayed 3 nights there to celebrate my mom's 70's anniversary. The view was spectacular and the house was very very cozy and comfortable to stay.

John and Pam was very nice and kind, helping me to spend the most memorable moment during our stay.

My parents and me enjoyed the nice view and my kids loved Jacuzzi hot tub, playing in it almost every night when we return from Yellowstone.

I will never forget how much fun we had for the BBQ and marshmallow grill.

I definitely recommend this vacation home.

Pam / John, Thanks for your hospitality.

You provided great gift for all of us !! I believe my parent and my wife/kids will never forget about the real mountain life.
