This precious home offers you all of the modern amenities while still treating you to a quiet and serene experience. Located on acres of trees and flowering meadows and surrounded by the Targhee National Forest, the Yellowstone's Top of the World's balcony and multitier viewing are perfect to observe the frequent wildlife and dazzling sunsets.
Each day one is able to choose any of the numerous nearby outdoor activities or picnic in Yellowstone National Park which is only minutes away. In less than two hours you are able to visit Grand Targhee Ski Resort, Jackson Hole, Grand Teton National Park, St. Anthony's sand dunes, Virginia City, or Big Sky.
Of particular interest are the hundreds of miles of bike and snow mobile trails that begin at your back door and the world class fishing found on Henry's Lake and the Snake River.
This property (as seen in the last photo) shares two separate homes, referred to as the lower level and the upper level. The lower level home is featured in this VRBO listing. Only one group of guests rent the property at a time. The owners (Pam and Dr. John) sometimes occupy the upper level home between June 10 and August 15 while they maintain and improve the grounds and ensure that everything is perfect for our guests. Pam and I are onsite to cater to the needs of our guests. Some of the larger groups choose to rent both levels to double the living area to 3000 sf. Photos 1-19 show the lower level and photos 20-23 depict the upper level. During a typical year, about 30% of our guests rent the whole property and the other 70% are perfectly happy with the lower level. The downstairs has its own private entry, perfectly flat, and exclusive use of all the facilities, hot tub, patio, fire ring terrace, grill, dining and picnic tables. Guests in the downstairs home feel as if they own the mountain. We assure you that this is the most exclusive setting you can find. There may be a couple of mountain properties near Jackson for double the price. Refer to the reviews to see what our previous guests think of the Top of the World.

Dr. John and I have been world travelers and have enjoyed our vacations in many places. This property is unique to all the others that we own and have stayed in. We provide a great plush enviroment and treat eveyone as if they were royalty. This Yellowstone is the ultimate RETREAT from everything. Come on out and join us.
Pam and John Stanford purchased this cabin in 2005
Our Yellowstone cabin is a top of the world experience. It is the best place to be during North America's warm summer months.
We can enjoy Yellowstone Park which is only 12 miles away without dealing with the asphalt traffic and hustle and bustle of accommodations in town. From our lodge we enjoy unobstructed views of the sunsets, the Tetons, centennial range, Henry's Lake, Snake River Valley, wildlife in our front yard, world class fishing, rodeos, horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, river-rafting, hundreds of miles of ATV trails, Yellowstone Park and wilderness touring. There's a great deal of enjoyment and fun being out west on top of a mountain. We have the perfect climate and the ultimate outdoor adventure for people of all ages. There is never a dull moment.
Pam and John, the cabin is perfect in every way! We enjoyed returning to the peacefulness and beauty of "Top of the World" after a full day in the Park. Thank you!
We loved the house very clean beautiful views from every angle! We had a large group rented the upstairs and downstairs lots of room highly recommended.
The house was everything we had expected it to be. It provided a relaxing environment to end all four days we spent in Yellowstone. Since one can spend so much time just getting from point A to point B within the park; it was nice to have a short and easy drive to the west entrance every day. As our daughter who accompanied us is a professional photographer; she appreciated the opportunity to view great sunsets nightly, and also do extended exposure shots of the night sky off the deck. Views of the Milky Way were great.
Pam and Dr. John were not on site during our stay, but were easily accessible by phone, the couple of times we had a question.
The entire experience was awesome!
We had a fantastic week's stay at this amazing property only about 20 miles from West Yellowstone entrance. The house was not just a house but a home for us. We rented both floors so had great privacy. The house is well stocked and meticulously maintained. There is absolutely nothing missing. Every morning and evening we rose to the great views of sunrise and sunset respectively. John and Pam were very proactive in getting back to us with any queries we might have had. The kitchen is well stocked and made cooking at home a pleasure. We would go out to yellowstone everyday and come back and put our feet up at this very comfortable home. The hill going up and down to get to the house was a little scary but you get used to it. The roads are narrow and we just had to be very careful but the hike up and down was worth it for the views. We also took a short hike from the house to an abandoned ski gate up the hill. The wi-fi is slow but understandable given that the house is in the mountains. Would definitely stay in the house if we come next time
We had a wonderful time, and felt quite at home
This rental has exceeded our expectations! pictures are very accurate as to what the house looks like although they can't do it justice! all the details of decorations and provided amenities are superb! John and Pam are very attentive hosts and take pride is there home and it definitely shows. we lacked nothing during our stay and felt very welcomed. With 10 people (4 adults and 6 kids) in our party we all had plenty of room. Yellowstone is only a short distance away and it was quite nice to come to a quiet retreat after a busy day. We would definitely love to stay here again!
The most gracious hosts who were attentive and so very kind. They even provided us with dog-sitting while we toured Yellowstone. Our children enjoyed the propane fire pit and roasted marshmallows at night. The view is not only breathtaking but mesmerizing. It changed every evening with every sunset. What a spectacular vacation in a fantastic house. Thank you for the memories!
A real mountain retreat. An unsurpassed experience nestled among and between the mountain tops.
