Greetings from Montana:
My wife and I would like to invite you to use our rustic ‘ol west cabin as your vacation home while you explore the wonders of Yellowstone Country.(Actually, there are TWO CABINS available for your use at the same low price!!) Our cabin is 'in town' but not 'up town.' It is a comfortable short walk to the entire community.
Why West Yellowstone and our Cabin?
The CABIN is a 5 room, one bath ...cozy, clean, private single family residence that sleeps up to 5-6 guests (Queen Bed in master bedroom, Queen LazyBoy sofa-bed, Bunk Beds in extra-wide hallway/corridor room). The CABIN is located on a large tree covered lot with ample parking; within 5 blocks of the town’s many restaurants, shops, and attractions. It is ‘cost-friendly’ [same low rental rates applies throughout the season]. Over the years we have made major upgrades, especially to the kitchen and bath, while trying to maintain the rustic charm. We recently replaced some furniture in the living room, including a recliner and a new queen size Lazy Boy sofa/bed. As the following check-list highlights, all the household and cooking basics are included. It’s nice to know; however, after a long day in the park, should the ‘cook’ decide ‘not to’…eating out is within walking distance of the cabin!
One of the special features of West Yellowstone [locals simply call it West] is Location, Location, Location. The entire Rocky Mountain Range has some spectacular scenery, wildlife viewing and attractions. Yet, ‘West’, is truly special! It is surrounded on three sides by the Gallatin National Forest with Yellowstone National Park on its eastern boundary. As a gateway, you have access to features, attractions, and wildlife only found in the world’s first national park!!
--The largest concentration of thermal features in the world. [From the cabin, you are only 30 miles from Old Faithful Geyser]
--A wide array of wildlife, including, wolves, bear, and bison.[Don’t be surprised to see bison sharing the highway with you]
--The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone with it's thundering falls and beautiful Yellowstone Lake, North America’s largest mountain lake. [August surface temperature is only 60 degrees F.]
--Road system that provides access to the parks major attractions and almost 1000 miles of back country trails to explore.
--A unique colorful history of exploration and adventure and a multitude of locations for peace, solitude and reflection.
If this is not enough to fill your day, don’t forget you’re surrounded by the Gallatin National Forest with its own variety of attractions.
We hope you can share some time with us. In 1872, the park was created, in part, as a “pleasuring ground” and wildlife refuge. It continues to excite and inspire millions of visitors every year and is truly one of the world’s greatest destinations.
My wife and I have had the good fortune to be able to enjoy Yellowstone Area for a number of years. I grew up being told that this was God's Country. I agree. Many of my life's choicest memories are from this wonderful area. This cabin is a real-world stacked log cabin, not just a stick-build building with siding to make it look like a log cabin. We are not sure exactly how old it is, (I suspect it was build about the same time I was, during the early 1950s). May we give a special thank-you to past guests. Your comments were very positive and a joy to read!
Roger Beattie purchased this cabin in 2011
The property was as described, but there is now a bunk bed in lieu of the single bed, and it was very comfortable. The kitchen was well-equipped and we had most of our meals in the cabin which saved us a lot of dining-out expense. The cabins are set back from the main road so it was quiet inside. The only drawback was the lack of WiFi in the cabin, but Ernie's restaurant two doors away has free public WiFi so we could get a high-speed connection if needed; otherwise we got our email on our smartphones. Our Montana friends joined us and used the cowboy cabin which they found to be comfortable although heated by a portable electric heater that was a bit noisy. The owner was a pleasure to deal with. Overall, it was a great place to stay and infinitely superior to staying in a hotel. I'd definitely use this property again!
We loved the beauty and the serenity of yellowstone and cabin matched it by being cozy and comfortable. After a long day hiking and walking in the park, it felt like coming home to the cabin. It has a well equipped kitchen so one can cook if not in mood to go out anywhere. Its just 10 mins away from the West Entrance and 5 mins from many restaurants and supermarkets. It is ideal for a group of 4 or 5.

It is ideal for a family or group of 4-5 persons.
The owner is very easy to work with. Check-in was extremely easy though there seemed to be only 1 key available so if you are in separate groups you may need to keep the cabin unlocked. As you are driving up, the cabin appears to be in a commercial area however, once parked, there is great amount of privacy in the very cute yard.
The cabin had everything we needed or wanted. The kitchen had all the necessary utensils, which was good because when we returned from the park, we were too beat to go out to dinner. There were wine glasses and very nice cocktail glasses for our gin and tonic.
The living room had very comfortable, nice furniture and good TV.
Bed was comfortable and the bedroom cabinets and drawers were very clean as was the rest of the cabin.
We could not have asked for a better place.
One caveat: The description states there is WiFi available and does state that it is not on site (I didn't notice that at first.) However, there is good phone reception for smartphones. We decided that we would just disconnect for a few days. I would recommend this cabin to my best friend.
First, the owners were incredible. Our only major complaint is that the listing description is a bit misleading. This is not a 6 room house. The "corridor" room has a bed in it, but it is impossible for someone to use it as a room unless he/she is the last person to bed. The photos also do not show that this cabin in right in between two other buildings, with a main street right in front of the house. The location was wonderful, as it was located within walking distance to the town and we were able to walk to dinner and to the park. It was also quick and easy access to Yellowstone. The price is great too. I just think we were all surprised by the actual cabin not being what we expected. If what you want is a conveniently located cabin that is inexpensive in West Yellowstone, this is a great place. If you are looking for a nicer cabin to enjoy, this is not the place.
We stayed 4 nights in the West Yellowstone cabin. I can't rave about this location enough. After spending 3 days driving into the park from this location, I would not stay anywhere else! The drive is flat with lots of wild life where as coming from the other areas (north, south or east) definitely has more mountains and curves.
The cabin was exactly as pictured. Very comfortable, cozy and clean. The washer and dry was definitely a plus, especially with children and colder weather than expected. The check in/out at the hotel was very easy as it was very close to the cabin location.
I would highly recommend this cabin for your Yellowstone vacation!
