My friends and I spent two days and two nights at the UWS apartment. The location could not have been better. Walking distance from all of the places we were in town to visit. And in a wonderful neighborhood close to Central Park. That's the good.
The not so good. The apartment is in the middle of a row of brownstones so there is not very much natural light. And while the kitchen has been beautifully updated the rest of the unit is lagging behind.
The worse part of the stay was the lack of sleep due the noisy neighbors upstairs. While I understand that these are vacation rentals and it was the weekend I was willing to put up with a fair amount of disturbance up until midnight (and I relayed this to the landlord) however our lovely upstairs neighbors walked aka stomped around until 2 a.m, every night/morning even after I had express my concerns. Perhaps at the end of the day it was not their fault? The apartments are not well insulated so you can hear everything.
The next day when we were checking out so were they. And it was a herd of them. Tons of kids and adults. Who was up until 2 am stopping around? I couldn't tell you. The kids looked to young to be up that late, and the adults looked too old...
Anyway an other wise splendid trip was soured by the lack of a peaceful night(s) rest. I have stayed in VRBO before in NYC and have not run into this issue. Perhaps that's due to the fact that other renters were owners. These places seem to be solely for the use as rental units. Therefore why be concerned about noise if you don't live there?
If you're looking for a great location and a good price and don't need to sleep this is the place for you. Other wise I'd say keep looking.
We spent a week for new year's eve and I can say that the apt is very comfortable.
The sourrounding are great ! Full of groceries store, bars and very close to transportation.
We were a party of six ( mom, dad, grandparents and children aged 8 & 12) and we fit perfect in the apartment.
Since I got in contact with Anthony, everything was just as described and planned.
Anthony took care of every single detail to make our stay a wonderful experience.
I would really choose this apt again !
My wife and I stayed in 2A for a week visiting our son. We obtained an authentic NYC experience. There are windows in every room. The apartment is nice place to return home to and wake up in. The subway and busses with one week unlimited Metro card made seeing the entire city from the apartment easy. There is plenty of NYC within walking distance including Central Park. No problems with apartment. Size is perfect for Parents and two children. Pick up fresh bagels and eggs to make in your kitchen for breakfast.
Loved the apartment. We wanted to be close to the Thanksgiving Parade and loved the neighborhood. Plenty of affordable restaurants all within walking distance. Subway only 2 blocks away. Enjoyed the short walk to Central Park. We would recommend to anyone.
The apt was great (very clean, comfortable beds, LOTS of hangers, big screen HDTV, local telephone -only beware of one level of steep stairs if a visitor has mobility issues), the location was great (7 min walk to the Museum of Natural History and then, cross the street and you are in Central Park!), the amenities were great (1 block away are good quality restaurants - Sarabeths for breakfast, Ocean Grill has fabulous seafood), Zabars for a quickie breakfast and every possible takeout food in the world, a corner store for basics, and we felt very safe walking home in the late evenings. We felt like real New Yorkers! Thank you to Anthony who waited 4 hours on a Saturday night (our plane was delayed) to greet us; he walked us around the streets to show us some of the amenities and even left us with his own umbrella! We would not hesitate to book this place again
