Wonderfully charming, cottage-like carriage house

  • 4 of 5

We truly enjoyed our short stay in the Willard Beach house. It was immaculate and even better than we expected. Darrell and Judy have tastefully decorated with antiques and interesting items. Dodge (our pup) loved it as well, especially the short path to the beach where he made many pup friends. Beautiful views, easy to get to Portland. Will surely consider coming back. Thank you!!

(The only reason for 4 stars is the 'rustic' bathroom)

Great location. Quiet and perfect for our dog

  • 5 of 5

Lovely owners, who couldn't have been nicer. This property was steps away from a dog friendly beach and also had a nice mostly fenced in yard. We will definitely stay again

Fun quirky place in a great location.

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in the carriage house. It is steps from the beach and a short walk from our favorite breakfast spot Scratch bakery. The upstairs bedroom was comfortable and charming and the downstairs kitchen and dining area had the basics for cooking simple meals.

The beautiful backyard was a great place to sit outside and relax. We had everything we needed.

Relaxation from Dawn to Dusk

  • 5 of 5

This is our second year staying at the Carriage House, our third year in the vicinity. We always love visiting this time of year where the weather is much cooler than Virginia. And our little Klara just loved running free on the nearby beach without a leash in the morning and evenings. She definitely misses that. There is plenty of nearby shopping and some good restaurants. And of course downtown Portland is only 4 miles away. Plus a drive north or south makes for a quick trip. The residence is roomy and ideally situated, and the garden is big enough so you get a place to relax if need be. The BIG plus is it being dog friendly! Our hosts are always helpful and can easily be reached if a rare issue crops up. One week is nice, two weeks would be perfect!

And be sure to visit the Standard Bakery and ride on the Maine Narrow Gauge railroad in Portland!

Thanks again to our hosts and staff.

Mark and Akemi

Close to beach, quaint building, lots to enjoy in the area

  • 4 of 5

We loved how close it is to the beach! Lots of historical lighthouses to explore nearby. Loved the patio, but it was very open to the neighbors driveway. Wish there was a comfy spot to sit and relax in the downstairs area. Inconvenient bathroom spot for the dog. Beautiful backyard but not a lot of opportunity to enjoy due to watering and maintenance.

loved the beach

  • 4 of 5

I loved that the house was steps to the beach and enjoyed every morning sitting on the beach with my coffee and just watching all the dogs playing and being very social and playful.

The owners were super friendly and always available if we needed anything.

The only down side was that there was no air conditioning on the first level, and instead of the book shelves and the round table in the corner could of been used as a nice sitting area, would of been a lot more comfortable instead of sitting on hard kitchen chairs.

I still would give my recommendation to stay here,
