Our quiet white shingled 'Nantucket Style' cottage perches herself overlooking the tranquil waters of Mt. Hope Bay and is directly on a private beach. The Victorian 30 foot white wicker porch is covered with flowers spilling from their window boxes looking at the sea. It is the perfect spot to sip your morning coffee watching the red sunrise or have a glass of wine watching the captains billowing sails go by towards their open sea adventure. A balmy night, the moonlit sea, a soft breeze, sultry music together with a dazzling view of twinkling lights across the bay bridge make for one of the most memorable evenings of the summer! You won't want to leave your front porch!
The tranquil blue and white 'Captains Room' overlooking the ocean is thoughtfully appointed in Laura Ashley blue and white designer linens, down pillows and down duvets and is perfect for a plush week of restful sleep. Keep your windows open to hear the water lapping against the shore.
The sun soaked 'Rose Garden' room is done in a cottage white and cranberry rose Waverly bedding, white wicker and also has special touches of down pillows and duvets. It is sun soaked and has climbing roses in front of its windows along with window boxes full of blooms.
A new English white kitchen with bead board white cabinets, butcher block counters, gas stove and a farmers sink is ready for you to enjoy if you decide to cook or just make tea.
Much of your time may be spent on our patio outside overlooking the beach relaxing on our comfortable padded chaise lounge chairs.
Some of our guests fish directly in front of the house for their catch of the day. You can shell all day and walk the beach or take your own boat, call for our mooring availability and capacity. Anyone who wants a get away for a special occasion or just a vacation, this is a special place to come and not far from any adventure, including the fantastic Newport Mansions, Polo Grounds, Roger Williams Zoo, the stately homes of Bristol, our favorite casual restaurants, golf, etc...
Come prepared for anything, or just bring your flip flops and enjoy being at home on the beach!
We stayed at this lovely cottage for the Memorial Day weekend.
Upon our arrival we found fresh cut roses in every room as well as a welcome package in the refrigerator.
The pictures do not do justice to just how warm and cozy it is.
Brunch at the bistro and dine at the Lobster Pot in town then take a stroll through the marina.
We also took a tour of the Blithewold Mansion and gardens.
A truly relaxing weekend.
Thank You Dee
If you fell in love with the photographs of this cottage, you will be blown away by the real thing!
This cottage has been decorated to a very high standard and with wonderful taste. It is clean and well maintained. The location is on a quiet residential street and the rear of the property overlooks Hope Bay, literally a ‘stone’s throw’ away – but don’t throw any stones, as you may disturb the varied bird life that frequents the garden and the waterfront!
The open plan kitchen and lounge areas are relaxing and comfortable. The kitchen is equipped with a breakfast bar and stools, full size gas range, microwave, refrigerator and freezer, toaster and coffee maker. A dishwasher and double sink is positioned off to the side. The lounge has a very comfortable sofa, coffee table, cabinet, small dining table. Over the fireplace is a large wall-mounted tv; a dvd player, and a radio.
The two double bedrooms are beautifully decorated and comfortable. Neither has a closet, but there are sets of drawers and hanging space on the walls. Linen, duvets and towels are all provided.
The bathroom is small, but has a shower, wc and wash basin.
Step from the lounge and you find the conservatory. This has large, removable windows, which can be replaced with nets to keep any flying bugs away! There are loungers, chairs and tables and the wonderful views over the garden and bay.
Outside there is a small lawned area, a gravelled area that has sun loungers, garden chairs a table with sun shade and dining chairs.
Downtown Bristol is a quiet little town with a good choice of restaurants. Nearby Newport is a busier town with a large harbour area and lots of places to eat out. If you prefer to self-cater there is a large well stocked supermarket nearby and there is a gas-fired bar-b-que to cook outdoors.
Providence is a small city well worth a visit and has riverside walks and a great shopping mall. Other places we visited were the Roger Williams Park zoo in Providence and the Battleship Cove over in Fall River
The owners are a great couple and were very helpful.
I would happily recommend this cottage to my friends..... but I’d rather keep it a secret!
My 10 year old son and I stayed at one of the two cottages while I was attending a meeting in Providence. We couldn't believe how lovely the cottage was inside and out. It is right on the beach and there is a beautiful panoramic view of the water right from the cottage living room. The kitchen had everything we needed, and Denise left us a lovely gift basket with food and drinks in the fridge. There was a grocery store just up the street. The cottage had fishing poles and inflatable beach toys, and there were lots of huge towels in the bathroom. It is located in a very, very quiet neighborhood. I thought that this would be a boring business trip, but it turned into a vacation that we will always remember, mainly because the cottage was so pretty. We would definitely stay here again!
The Views are amazing.... Our boys loved the experience of crabbing and the local beaches have great waves for boogie boarding. Lot's of great places to eat but having a full kitchen also made it very easy to stay in and have our meals on the beautiful porch facing the water. It was a fun and bonding place for our family. Thanks Dee for your generous hospitality! Regards, The Cavanagh Family.
We've stayed in hundreds of B&Bs, country inns, beach houses and resort properties in our lives and have never felt compelled to write a review until now. You will LOVE this cottage so much that you will want to extend your stay! Cool, soothing bay breezes awaken you and soft, lapping waves lull you to sleep - what could possibly be better than this? The owner was so warm, so gracious and so accommodating every step of the way - from our initial email exchanges through check-out day. Personalized notes and fresh flowers throughout the house welcomed us upon our arrival, as did delicious and decadent treats that were so unexpected and very much appreciated after our long drive. The cottage itself is just precious - right out of a magazine - and the only downside is that we had to leave it at the end of our stay! We will be back for sure!
The cottage is small, but as pictured. It's a very nice, quiet spot on a pretty lake. The cottages are all very close together & the owner lives next door. The bathroom was very tiny & doesn't have a window curtain, so we felt a little odd every time the owner came out of her house & had a full view of the bathroom. The only other complaint is that there was limited space to put away our clothing. We were only (2) people, so we used the 2nd bedroom to keep our things in, but if you need both bedrooms, you will have very limited space. It's very quaint & relaxing if that's what you are looking for.
Bristol is a coastal town and a unique treasure that has not been found! Just minutes between Providence and Newport, Rhode Island. Our rose cottage is perched overlooking the tranquil waters of Mt. Hope Bay and directly on a private beach. It is also a short bicycle ride from Bristol Town center, the shops and restaurants, as well as Colt State Park.
Other Activities: Wildlife viewing, shopping, boating, kayaking, mini golf.
