Where do you live?

Such an adorable cabin! "BUT" dissapointing.

  • 2 of 5

The overall upkeep of the cabin is lacking. It was not clean. The overabundant knickknacks were dusty and full of cobwebs. There is rotting on the exterior cabin logs. The property was un kept. The grass was long with 4 inch tall mushrooms everywhere. If you have allergies, steer clear. I loved the fireplace. The whirlpool tub was awesome, but it leaks and the floor was spongy and reeked of mildew smell from the moisture. This could be such an adorable cabin with great potential, but the obvious neglect made the experience lack luster and not worth the price paid per night. Pride needs to be found by the owner of this place. Some hard work is necessary before it falls into total disrepair...

Rustic Charm in a convenient location

  • 5 of 5

We were very happy with our stay and would not hesitate to come here again. Yes the cabin is close to the road, but so well hidden that our friends and family that live in the area had no idea it was even there! There was quite a bit of dust around the cabin, which is expected because the gound outside is sandy and it is a log cabin not the Bellagio. We swept several times and were happy to do so in the hopes that we left it better than when we arrived for the next guests. We were very happy with our stay and recommend Little Bear Cabin to anyone wanting a rustic experience close to modern conveniences.

Little Bear Cabin, baraga, Michigan

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at Little Bear cabin. It's quite rustic and with just enough essentials to make the stay easy and cozy. We especially enjoyed the jacuzzi, a lovely quirky treat of the cabin. We enjoyed the gentle bay in our back yard, being able to sit in sun and water simultaneously was fun. Grilling each evening and sitting in the mosquito netted canopy was great. We went out to photograph the full moon and next day's sunrise across the lake above L'Anse. We had very much fun at Little Bear Cabin.

Rustic yes, but need of maintenance and Cleaning

  • 2 of 5

Yes, it was rustic and advertised as such. However a good cleaning and extermination would be beneficial. Spiders were abundant. One crawled down my shoulder in bed, two were on the shower curtain. Mice shared my breakfast roll. Lots of knick knacks around but have cob webs and dust over them. If you have a compromised immune system, the bottom logs of the Cabin are rotting and mold underneath. We couldn't get the air conditioning to work, I had both units running and still sweat the night away. I am used to camping rustic in a tent ect. but this place still bothered me. The View, back yard and lay out is nice. Expected the road noise but that didn't bother us. Nice swimming with a sandy bottom. With some maintenance and cleaning would be worth the cost.

Owner's Response: As to the air conditioning not working, I found a window open so it wouldn[t work properly with outside air coming in. the portable unit is new. I have hired a new cleaning person. cabin sprayed for spiders again so problem resolved. mice traps set with nothing in them for a full week so no sign of mice. bottom log needs to be replaced but difficult to do with constant guests. it is scheduled for replacement in the next few weeks when lodging season ends. no mold observed just an old log. lots of melodrama here. it is a cabin in the northwoods. I want guests comfortable. I addressed every item and will continue to strive to caretake this little old log cabin in the pines. all the other reviews were so complimentary it is really a matter of taste.

If road noise and dirt doesn't bother you, it's a perfect getaway.

  • 4 of 5

The cabin looks just like in the photos and we easily fit our family of 5. The bathroom was roomy, clean, and nice. The sheets and towels were clean. We loved the back yard with the fire pit and the private beach area for the kids. We didn't except the road to be literally right next to the cabin (as in read people's GPS screens if you look out the bathroom window) but, if you tune out the road noise, it is a great property. We slept with the skylight open, which was wonderful but probably added to the road noise. The ad said there would be a cot for an additional person, there was not. Our 16-year old had to sleep in the recliner (which was very nice but not as nice for spending an entire night in). A cot was provided the next day after email contact. We did not have a phone number for the owner and had to google her when an emergency came up, luckily we found a number that worked. Wi-Fi was a plus as cell phone coverage is sparse in the area. The cabin does need to be cleaned more thoroughly - there was a layer of dust/dirt in many areas and the kitchen cabinets were very dirty - we cleaned everything before using. On the other hand, the kitchen was nicely stocked in terms of electrical appliances. We brought our own waffle maker. There was a nice fridge/freezer in the bedroom. The location is perfect for visiting several attractions: 1h to Porcupine, 1.5h to Cooper Harbor, and 1.5h to Marquette.
