I was born in Hawaii, my family has been here for over 129 years since 1885. My Grandmother was the first telephone operator at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel in 1927. I used to have a home a block from this apartment building before I moved to La Jolla California. I moved back to Hawaii in 2003 into this apartment, it is truly spectacular. In 2007 I moved to Hana Maui and decided to let other people have the time of their life in my Heaven ON THE BEACH.
Roger Lane purchased this condo in 2002
I was living in La Jolla California, and came back to Hawaii every year to visit my family. In 2002 I noticed an OPEN HOUSE sign at this address and decided to go in since I always admired this building, The Colony Surf, when I lived here. When I saw this apartment I could not believe the view, and how beautiful every detail of the interior was, it was luxury in every way, a designers work of art. I bought it on the spot, thinking some day I would retire here in paradise. I moved into it in 2003. It wasn't till I moved to Hana Maui in 2007 that I decided to rent it.
The first thing that shocks everyone is the view, all ocean, sail boats, surfers and canoes. The second is the sound of the waves all day and at night they put you to sleep peacefully. Third is the daily 'Spectacular Sunsets'. Fourth is the private beach which is easy to take a dip or a wonderful safe swim. The ground floor hosts 'Michele's at The Colony Surf' a famous 4 star restaurant. Across the entrance to The Colony Surf is Kapiolani Park, 50 acres to walk or run 3 miles around. And a 10 minute walk along the beach and you are in Waikiki, for amazing dining , shopping, and fun.

This is the statement I kept telling myself during my 2-month visit at Rogers apartment over the holidays. The pictures posted are EXACTLY as shown. The pictures cannot, of course, have the reader experience the amazing ocean breeze and the continuous soothing sounds of the waves.
This million dollar property is tastefully furnished and more spacious than most holiday rentals.
Most of our hawaiian holidays were spent trying to get a quiet, comfortable, unobstructed view of the sunset every night. This was a challenge since it is very difficult to obtain all these elements at the same time. Well, we were able to have this in a luxurious environment every night at Rogers place and for this we are very grateful.
Ok, so what did a day look like while staying at Rogers? Well, most mornings we would cross the parking lot (a 1 minute walk) to get to the Lotus Hotel where we would enjoy a lovely breakfast in their 'Wisp' lounge which overlooks Queen Kapiolani Regional Park. Then a leisurely (10 minute walk to the busier Waikiki area) and do some shopping etc. The afternoon at about 3pm, we would walk about 2 minutes to the New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel lounge for pupus and a cold beer overlooking Kaimana Beach. Then a short walk to The Barefoot Beach Cafe for dinner. We could stay for the great food, view, and live music if we wanted, or take it to-go and have a quiet, dinner at the apartment while enjoying the sunset.
We were looking for a quiet space, away from the noise and bustle of Waikiki and this place really delivered. More than we expected.
Roger was easily available and dealt with us in a professional, respectful manner.

This beautiful condo was perfect for us! It was exactly as the landlord described it and it's location was excellent. Having travelled extensively in and out of the country, I consider myself a fairly good judge of lodging and this condo had exactly what we wanted: a quiet place right on the beach, but within in easy walking distance to all the excitement of Waikiki with all its shopping, restaurants, and night life. Plus the sunsets from the condo were absolutely incredible! We made it a point to never miss one.
I asked a realtor where to stay and he suggested that instead of staying in one of the hotels there I should rent a condo instead and suggested looking on VBRO. So I did and found this condo. It seemed to offer everything we were looking for. I contacted the owner, Roger, who was great and responded immediately to all my questions. I also read the reviews from previous renters and they were all superb. The kitchen was full size and felt like my own at home. It allowed us to cook dinner and make lunches so we could enjoy time alone together along with those sunsets! An added bonus was the free high speed Internet that helped us find restaurants for those days we didn't feel like cooking.
The surrounding area was peaceful and quiet. This place was everything we hoped for for our return visit to Hawaii.

I can tell that the owner loves this apartment. (He actually use to live in it). All of the art work is original, the furniture is designer quality, even tons of fresh towels. I highly recommend this apartment for your Waikiki stay. Close to everything yet quiet and peaceful. I particularly love access to the private beach. I am definitely returning.
Just spent another wonderful month at this beautiful spot. Roger has thought of everything from the design to the set-up of this amazing place. Absolutely everything is there for you to enjoy your time in paradise. Listening to the ocean waves as you drift to sleep, watching the outriggers go out, and walking to so many different places are just a few of the many, many benefits. I return to this place often and am already looking forward to my next visit. Highly recommend!
We love to watch the whales and seabirds right out our front window. Other times, it's a parade of sailboats or outriggers. Sometimes in the evenings the sunsets are so spectacular that the people on the beach applaud. This lovely condo has a full ocean view. It is clean, nicely furnished, well maintained. This great location, right on the beach, is on the quiet side of Kapiolani Park yet just a few minutes walk from the activities of Waikiki. We've stayed for several years and hope to return for many more.
There is no better location to spend your vacation on Oahu. The perfect combination of beautiful beaches and ocean frontage. We spent our days in the water, relaxing and cooling off, then often walked the short distance into Waikiki for a quick bite to eat in the evening. It was amazing to wake up to the sights and sounds of the ocean every morning.
We found Roger to be very responsive both in booking our stay, and with questions as we prepared for our visit.
We look forward to staying again on our future visits to Oahu.
