About the property

La Carrai is a large one room flat with bathroom, kitchen, Terrace. For 2-3 p.

This ancient farmhouse built into the Tuscan hills (350m above sea level) seems so far away from any civilization. The front looks out towards the medieval town of Sassetta on the hilltop opposite, only 3 km away. There are also magnificent views of the tranquil Val di Cornia all the way to Massa Marittima; on clear days you can even see Gavorrano, 70km away.

The farmhouse was made of solid stone in the early 1800s. It has been beautifully restored to provide all modern comfort whilst maintaining its original structure and charm. The traditional country house was carefully renovated with warm, natural stone-work, colourful plantings and gorgeous little additions, among them an antique bread oven, it is situated in a very picturesque countryside.

A boccia or beachball pitch was made in 2009: 18 x 8 m with fine sand

The interior decoration is a tasteful blend of antique and contemporary furnishings. The room with arcades is for 2 to 3 people and has 50 square metres with a bathroom.

Both beds (possibility of 1 additional bed) can be decorated as sofas during the day. There is a huge antique dining table on the inside and a natural stone table with handmade terracotta chairs for dining al fresco just in front of the entrance. There is plenty of storage room available on large shelves and in two closets hidden by the arch. A handmade wood burning Maiolica furnace can be used during the cooler winter months.

The kitchen offers a unique espresso coffee machine made by Pavoni, a fridge with a small freezer compartment, an extractor fan and a dishwasher. It also features a pantry with a medicine chest. A little corridor, providing additional storage space, leads to the bathroom with a shower.

In this charming apartment you will also find a CD-Player and CDs, books, travel guides, recipe books... SAT TV and DVD on request

From a big room, flooded with light and accented with white linen curtains, one can step out to enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views; 5 further seating areas with garden furniture spread around the grounds.. Gas and solar central heating. Washing machine. Child friendly grounds with swing and hammocks. 2 shaded parking spaces are available. This house has WLAN wi-fi internet reception and is allows you to sit outside in the sun and work online - either €2 per day or per PayPal with your credit card. Of course we accept pets in our house -as long as they are well behaved and do not get onto beds or sofas! Washing machine with iron and ironing board are located in an annex to be shared with the other guests.

The estate was bought in 1989 by Lisa and her husband on their first holidays in the Tuscany, as a ruin on almost 6 hectares of overgrown land. The house can be approached from the main road, coming down from Sassetta towards Monterotondo Marittimo, passing through a private gate onto a private gravel road winding through fields and climbing uphill to the house. San Giuseppe is a 18th century building situated in one of Tuscany’s most beautiful regions, the southern part of the province of Livorno. The front looks out towards the medieval town of Sassetta (health resort town, 350m above sea level) across the natural reserve of the Cornia Valley all the way to Massa Marittima and, on very clear days, to Gavorrano, 70km away. The town offers 2 grocery stores, 3 bars, restaurants, a pizzeria, a hotel, a bank, a pharmacy, a hairdresser and other little shops. The most beautiful beaches are within reach of a 20 to 30 minutes car ride. You enter the hiking paths directly from the house.
