One of Mission Beach`s true landmark properties, this home, built in 1985, is a statement of modern architecture blended with Hawaiian atmosphere, and was designed by world renowned architect Ken Kellogg. The entire home fronts the Mission Beach Boardwalk, with unobstructed beach and water views from every room in the house! This unique home is designed with a mix of concrete, wood and glass that make it a one-of-a kind structure on the beach. The home is 2 levels with the kitchen, guest room and bathroom on the first floor and the master suite on the second. Off the kitchen is a poured in place concrete seating area with flat screen TV.
The large wood deck on the boardwalk has an outdoor dining table, and is the perfect place to watch the crashing surf and enjoy people watching along the boardwalk.Neighborhood shops and restaurants are all within walking distance!

This dream home was designed by the world famous architect Ken Kellog, on the most pristine beach in San Diego, CA. This home was featured in Home and Garden Magazine and is considered a Mission Beach architectural landmark masterpiece.
Spectacular views from every room and a 58 foot oceanfront deck. This home is located right on the boardwalk.
My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our vacation at this house. It is in an excellent spot and this is the biggest plus!! The house is very unique and a bit older which adds to its charm. However, the downstairs bedroom needs some serious TLC. The bunk beds are very rickety and the bed linens were absolutely horrible. The room needs a new bunk/mattresses and the owners need to invest a little money in new linens. A small amount of effort would go far. The upstairs was cozy and the bed was very comfortable, but again the linens weren't great.
Also of note, the upstairs deck fire pit in inoperable which was a bummer. But the downstairs fire place worked.
All in all, great spot, interesting house.....would consider staying again but only if the downstairs room was improved.
We loved this very unique beach house. We have vacationed in Mission/PB for more than 25 years. The lower level appears larger in pictures, however this did not matter to us because the patio area is were we spend all of our time. The patio was perfect. I do wish there was a garage for at least a small car but it work out great for our bikes. This is a great house for older teens and adults. My teens had a blast biking, boarding or walking to near by restaurants and shops. I Loved blow drying my hair with an ocean front view!
The staff at Bluewater couldn't have been more helpful from booking to answering my panicked call that I couldn't get in the house. Thank you for that!!
We just returned from staying at the Mission Beach Icon for a four night stay. First, the views from the home are stunning...we had such a great time watching the ocean and colorful people on the Mission Beach boardwalk! We also had the opportunity to view dolphins swimming one morning...fantastic! Going into our stay I did quite a bit a research and realized that the home is a bit older, but as long as you understand this, your expectations will be met. Our teenage kids had a blast riding bikes and long boards along the boardwalk, and playing frisbee in the soft sand. The floors on the main level are concrete (carpet upstairs), but that didn't bother us one bit. I would definitely recommend staying at this property!
