!!!!!!! ATTENTION, PLEASE NOTE !!!!!!! For some reason, the 3 main mapping sites (google, yahoo, mapquest) and all gps units i am aware of, show the INCORRECT location for my property. My property is on the southeast portion of the main part of Long Lake. If you contact me, I can guide you to bringing up a satellite photo of the location. We will email detailed directions to guests and we suggest you rely on our directions rather than mapping sites or gps devices. UPDATE--currently, mapquest IS correct within a few hundred yards.

Our family vacationed at this northern Michigan getaway last may. Out of our 4 prior experiences renting nice vacation homes, this paradise on the water is the only one we crave to return to. Wonderful, clean, abundantly equipped home. Large, private setting--truly a retreat. Super clean and clear lake, sized just right. Communication experience with the owners over the top great. Thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in the natural beauty, fishing, kayaking and cruising on the pontoon, which is an extremely worthwhile option. The area is a great balance of worthwhile things to do without being touristy, however it was hard for us to pull ourselves away from this place to go see other things. Couldn't wait to wake up in the morning in our comfy master suite to the mega blue views of the lake and the sweet song of the loons. We were sad when the owners Mike and Mary shared with us that they are considering selling their home. We selfishly hope they don't so we can come back.

Our family truly enjoyed our week on Long Lake. We never wanted to leave the deck which was surrounded by natural beauty and offered spectacular views of the lake, glorious sunrises and sunsets, and beautiful calls from the loons. We loved having the hummingbirds come to the window feeder everyday.
The house was beautiful, extremely clean and had a well-equipped kitchen. The bedrooms and living areas were spacious and comfortable. The indoor ping pong table, outdoor games, kayaks and pontoon were great amenities. The fishing was fantastic and swimming was great in one of the cleanest lakes around. We spent a day touring the shipwreck museum in nearby Alpena along with three lighthouses. We saw elk, deer, and even a red fox!
Mike and Mary were wonderful to work with. Their kindness and constant availability to us helped to create very special memories for our family. We will definitely be back!
Being from Western North Carolina, we are used to the breathtaking natural beauty of the Smoky Mountains, the Blue Ridge Parkway, etc. We had heard about the beauty of northern michigan and wanted to try a vacation there. We could not have picked a better place to experience that beauty for ourselves. Although we have some nice lakes in NC, none of them are the kind of pristine, clear, natural spring fed lakes the we experienced at Long Lake. The water was clear, clean and turquoise in the sunlight. The lake bottom was devoid of muck, rocks or hazards. The shoreline is not cramped, with long stretches that are still totally natural and without homes. There is a wonderful small island in the middle, which is a great place to kayak to or to anchor the pontoon boat in the sandy lake bottom. We had never seen loons before and loved listening to their call. Every day and night was spent swimming, kayaking, boating, enjoying campfires and horseshoes at the shore and barbecuing. The views from the house are breathtaking from every room and it is comfortable, clean, roomy and fully equpped. Coffee on the deck every morning while listening to the loons was WONDERFUL! This home is the definition of peace and relaxation. We really felt pampered in the comfort of the master suite as well and the entire setting is very private. The consideration and thoroughness of the owners was exemplary. We certainly know where we will stay when we visit michigan again!!!

Nice property with everything you need for a relaxing stay on the lake. The house comes with a large rowboat and a couple of kayaks. In the basement there is a table tennis table that was a real hit with everybody. The house is clean and well equipped. We hit some pretty warm days so air-conditioning would be nice but there are plenty of room fans. I thoroughly recommend this place and we'll be back again I'm sure. Very easy to deal with and helpful owner.
The property was very nice with fantastic views of the lake. The lake was very nice, water was clear and it had a very nice area for little kids to play in the lake. The owners were very accommodating. The only thing needing a little improvement was the bedding.
The house is awesome! Great location and views. The fall colors were beautiful and made for excellent photographs. This place is exceptional for families with plenty of room for everyone and loads of privacy. Activities abound for all, fishing, swimming, hiking, relaxing by the fire pit, star gazing, horeshoes, ping-pong etc.both indoors and out. Very clean and very well appointed. Thanks Mike and Mary, we'll be back!
