Incredible Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Our family vacationed at this northern Michigan getaway last may. Out of our 4 prior experiences renting nice vacation homes, this paradise on the water is the only one we crave to return to. Wonderful, clean, abundantly equipped home. Large, private setting--truly a retreat. Super clean and clear lake, sized just right. Communication experience with the owners over the top great. Thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in the natural beauty, fishing, kayaking and cruising on the pontoon, which is an extremely worthwhile option. The area is a great balance of worthwhile things to do without being touristy, however it was hard for us to pull ourselves away from this place to go see other things. Couldn't wait to wake up in the morning in our comfy master suite to the mega blue views of the lake and the sweet song of the loons. We were sad when the owners Mike and Mary shared with us that they are considering selling their home. We selfishly hope they don't so we can come back.

A stunning property on a very pretty lake

  • 4 of 5

This house was very well equipped for an outdorsey life on the lake. The view from the living room is the best we have ever had in a holiday house.

PARADISE FOUND!!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I are Michigan natives, but retired to Florida years ago. During a recent trip to visit friends in Michigan, we booked this unforgettable vacation paradise for 3 days. We are now in our seventies and have never experienced a short vacation as pleasant and peaceful as this beautiful home on such a pristine lake. We fell in love with the daily serenade of the loons and the clarity and beauty of the water in this lake. The owners were so accommodating to our particular needs. We plan to pencil this great place in for future visits to Michigan and include a couple of more family members in the future.

2nd Stay At This Gem

  • 5 of 5

This is our 2nd consecutive year staying at Mike and Mary's Long Lake home. We were so very glad to find out that they had put off selling their home for the time being. We were able to book in May, as we did last year, but for a whole week this time. As before, the weather was good, and the home was even better! We have never dealt with more helpful and friendly owners. Mike and Mary sent the clear message in all of our interaction with them that they were genuinely concerned about us and the quality of our hard earned vacation!

We again enjoyed fishing, kayaking, pontooning, being serenaded by the loons, enjoying the local natural attractions of this beautiful area, and mostly just deeply relaxing in the magnificent setting of this beautiful home. Hard to imagine a more beautiful and peaceful time. Thank you once again for a truly memorable family retreat. We are hopeful for a return trip next May.

Relaxing and Memorable Family Vacation -- Beauty of Nature Surrounds You

  • 5 of 5

Our family truly enjoyed our week on Long Lake. We never wanted to leave the deck which was surrounded by natural beauty and offered spectacular views of the lake, glorious sunrises and sunsets, and beautiful calls from the loons. We loved having the hummingbirds come to the window feeder everyday.

The house was beautiful, extremely clean and had a well-equipped kitchen. The bedrooms and living areas were spacious and comfortable. The indoor ping pong table, outdoor games, kayaks and pontoon were great amenities. The fishing was fantastic and swimming was great in one of the cleanest lakes around. We spent a day touring the shipwreck museum in nearby Alpena along with three lighthouses. We saw elk, deer, and even a red fox!

Mike and Mary were wonderful to work with. Their kindness and constant availability to us helped to create very special memories for our family. We will definitely be back!

incredible, incredible vacation.

  • 5 of 5

Being from Western North Carolina, we are used to the breathtaking natural beauty of the Smoky Mountains, the Blue Ridge Parkway, etc. We had heard about the beauty of northern michigan and wanted to try a vacation there. We could not have picked a better place to experience that beauty for ourselves. Although we have some nice lakes in NC, none of them are the kind of pristine, clear, natural spring fed lakes the we experienced at Long Lake. The water was clear, clean and turquoise in the sunlight. The lake bottom was devoid of muck, rocks or hazards. The shoreline is not cramped, with long stretches that are still totally natural and without homes. There is a wonderful small island in the middle, which is a great place to kayak to or to anchor the pontoon boat in the sandy lake bottom. We had never seen loons before and loved listening to their call. Every day and night was spent swimming, kayaking, boating, enjoying campfires and horseshoes at the shore and barbecuing. The views from the house are breathtaking from every room and it is comfortable, clean, roomy and fully equpped. Coffee on the deck every morning while listening to the loons was WONDERFUL! This home is the definition of peace and relaxation. We really felt pampered in the comfort of the master suite as well and the entire setting is very private. The consideration and thoroughness of the owners was exemplary. We certainly know where we will stay when we visit michigan again!!!
