Overview

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Custom home built in 2009 on 35 fenced and gated acres. Amazing views of the mountains with one of the best Pike's Peak views around.

Total seclusion yet only 1.5 miles to US Hwy 24 on a well maintained County Road. 6.5 miles from Woodland Park, a town of 10,000 which provides several grocery stores and numerous restaurants and services. 30 minutes from Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs with many tourist oriented activities and shopping. Hike the property and additional 25 acres across the road or lounge on one of 2 decks and enjoy the solitude with plenty of visiting wildlife, including the large Elk herd on the adjacent 1200 acre ranch.

Bag a “14 er” and climb Pikes Peak, or hike many of the different trails nearby. Close by there is world class fly fishing, mountain biking, unsurpassed Colorado snow skiing and white water rafting. You can also try your luck gambling at the historic Cripple Creek Mining District, a beautiful 20 mile drive.

This home has many upgrades including hickory cabinets with granite countertops in the kitchen and both baths, stainless steel appliances, tile and wood floors in living room and kitchen, bedrooms with carpeting, in floor heat, 46” plasma flat screen TV with surround sound (including the deck), Wi-Fi, 2 decks, one covered, and much more.

You're certain to have a wonderful and unforgettable Colorado vacation for just the two of you or for the entire family. This property is shared with another vacation rental they reside 750 yards apart and cannot be seen from each other. You can reserve both homes on the property for a larger group.

We do keep the driveway well plowed of snow in the winter, however the driveway does have a few ups and downs, so we do recommend 4 wheel drive in the winter and spring months.

Great holiday in Divide

  • 5 of 5

My husband, son, daughter and I spent 6 days in the cabin in August. It was the highlight of our trip to America this year.

The cabin made a fantastic base from which to explore the local area. It was very clean, extremely comfortable and well equipped.

The cabin offers wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. We all enjoyed watching the wildlife, particularly the humming birds feeding from the feeder located on the porch. During our stay we also saw blue jays, deer, squirrels and two calves.

We particularly liked the “eco-friendliness” of the cabin. The solar power was able to cater for almost all of our energy needs, although the back-up generator did step in to provide additional power if required.

We would definitely recommend the cabin to anyone looking for a fantastic holiday home from which to explore the many local attractions.

Spring Break Trip

  • 5 of 5

This house is one of the best we have stayed in for a vacation. Extremely clean and well stocked kitchen, game closet and even robes for when you get out of the hot tub. The views of the mountains are incredible and the peace and quiet of the location is exactly what a vacation should be. It's a short drive to lots of activities in the area or you can just hike around the cabin and sit in the hot tub. We did pikes peak on the Cog Railway but would drive up it next time, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Garden of the Gods (twice) climbed the "Incline" in Manitou Springs and you have to eat at McGinney's Pub in Divide! Great food and service!

Great Cabin!!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at this cabin. It was the most well equipped cabin I have ever stayed in. It was a great location, close to lots of activities. The only thing we didn't like was how small the master bed was. A king size bed would have been good. All in all we had a great stay!

Owner's Response: Sara, We're so glad you loved your stay at the Mountain Sun cabin and yes, it is centrally located to so many of the local attractions! We handcraft the log furniture for our rentals and are in the process of making a king size bed for the master bedroom. Thanks for the feedback and for the review. The Eicher's

Wonderful Experience

  • 5 of 5

The house is beautiful! Beautiful scenery with view of Pike's Peak. It was perfect for my boyfriend & I. It was charming & exciting to check-in when I received the key & personal note. Bed was comfortable. Place had everything we needed: towels, robes, extra pillows, blankets, dishes, pans, coffee, sugar, books, cable tv, DVDs, games, even hot cocoa & marshmallows! They also had a night light upstairs by the twin beds, along with some toys. We only got to use the hot tub once because it was unusually & wildly windy during our stay which made it feel much, much colder and made the house creak all night long. I'm surprised nobody mentioned the creaking but it was likely due to the strong winds, but it was quiet during the day. The floor is heated, which was lovely during our chilly stay. Enjoyed the fireplace & looking at the clear sky at night. The bedding smelled like cologne & dog so we had to wash all our clothes once we got home but it was fine, as we are not too sensitive to smells. We felt okay with the high altitude but the dryness of the air made our noses extremely dry, so bring lotion or oils to moisturize! Really awesome place, wish it had been warmer so we could've spent more time outside but our experience here was really great! We made some good memories here. The owners were very nice & quick to respond to messages & texts. Would definitely recommend this place. Beautiful, comfortable home. Very secluded & private.

Owner's Response: Hi Tracie, So glad you found everything that you needed at the Mountain Sun cabin! It sounds like your stay was enjoyable and we appreciate your great review! We do launder the sheets between guests 100% of the time and the cabin is not pet friendly so I am puzzled about your comment with the odors from the bedding. The house most likely was creaking due to warming and cooling between the daytime and nighttime temperatures which can vary significantly in our climate or the high winds that we have had this winter. Our own home which is close by does creak in the evenings also, it's nothing structural! We appreciate your comments and thanks for staying with us! The Eicher's

Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I spent five nights in February/March at this lovely home. We wanted a relaxing vacation and the Sun Mountain Cabin was perfect. The owners were very responsive and easy to work with when booking the cabin. I have stayed at many vrbo rentals over the years and the cabin was by far the cleanest and most stocked home I have stayed in. We also recieved our deposit back the same day we checked-out!!!

The views from the cabin are breath taking! It was so relaxing sitting in the hot tub just taking in the sites. We didn't do much besides relax and disconnect which the cabin was ideal to do in.

I will stay here again when returning to Colorado and would recommend it to all my friends and family.
