Beautiful Old Log Cabin in Green Mountain Falls Colorado

Bedrooms 5
Half Baths1
Space 2,500 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

5 Bedroom, 2 and 1/2 Bath

The Antlers Cabin is a great old place that will take you back in time. It is in Green Mountain Falls, an old vacation town nestled in a quiet valley at the foot of Pikes Peak, just outside of Colorado Springs.

This historic log cabin includes three levels of living space with 5 bedrooms, 2 ½ baths and sleeps 8-10 comfortably. Two outdoor patios and a deck provide ample room to take in the beautiful mountain views.

Great location, close to Colorado Springs - but snuggled in the mountains for that true mountain town feel. Green Mountain Falls is a quiet little town with shops, restaurants, a fishing pond, hiking trails, public swimming pool, tennis courts, creeks and its namesake waterfalls. Pretty as a picture, the central business district rings a small lake with a picturesque gazebo in the middle.

This cabin makes a great home base for trips to many major tourist attractions including: The Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak, The U.S. Air Force Academy, Cave of the Winds, Seven Falls, the U.S. Olympic Training Center and many more. Shoppers will love a day trip to Manitou Springs or Old Colorado City. Outdoorsmen will find great hiking, fishing, golf, 4-wheeling and biking nearby.

The parking situation is limited, and strict. There are just two marking parking spaces for guests. If additional vehicle are coming up - they will have to be parked in town across from the police department and along the main road next to the creek - and you will need to shuttle the people up. (just minutes away from the cabin).

Unique and Charming

  • 5 of 5

Our first impression of "whoa" quickly changed to "wow" at just how unique this house was, and we departed after a planned short stay with a very sentimental impression of the home. Walking through the primary entrance felt a little odd at first in that the "built a long time ago" feel was omnipresent, but once we settled down we began to look at all the neat artifacts hanging on the walls and that's when the charm of such an old house really took shape. The beds and living space were plentiful and comfortable for 10 people, and so I would certainly recommend this location for a similar sized group. The home served us well as a temporary stop in our first time journey to and through Colorado, and I'm sure it'll serve someone else the same. I can't say enough about the cool things hanging on the walls. You'll have to see it to know what I'm talking about. :)

Family vacation in Green Mountain Falls

  • 3 of 5

I have come to expect more from a VRBO property than chipped dishes and mismatched silverware. The house is advertised as rustic, but it was very hard to differentiate between run-down and rustic. The house is old and felt dirty. We got there at check-in time and the housekeeper did not leave until 6:30.

But, given all that, the beds were comfortable and we spent most of our time outside the cabin enjoying all the area had to offer. We had a wonderful time. The weather was gorgeous and a welcome change from the horrid heat in Texas. Green Mountain Falls is charming and I have vacationed here since I was young.

The neighbors were re-roofing. This is no fault of the owners, but the constant noise was annoying.

so cozy

  • 5 of 5

This trip was a celebration of my 70th birthday, my son's 37th and my grandson's 5th. The cabin itself was precisely what I had wanted and more. It was so cozy and comfortable in every way. I particularly appreciated the vintage atmosphere and artifacts. 'In addition, it was large enough to accommodate 6 adults and 2 children very comfortably. We had a fantastic time and are looking forward to a return visit.

Log Cabin Retreat

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed the spacious and rustic log cabin. It is an older building with eccentricities, but that is part of the charm. Lots of space for sleeping, but a caution that the upstairs beds are VERY high (one of our kids rolled off in the middle of the night). The stairs are steep too. But we had no issues with our 3 year old, he was in one of the bigger beds with us. Overall, we comfortably slept two families. Between the bottom floor, main floor and the top floor, it felt like distinct areas where adults and two groups of kids could get away from each other and have plenty of space. Lots of mountain town character! Neat town as well, close enough to Garden of the Gods, etc...

We did have a plumbing issue (slow shower drain) that we discovered the first night, but the property manager had someone there ASAP in the morning to work on it (really appreciated the prompt response). There were enough kitchen supplies to make a nice dinner for our families, and a nice big dinner table. A few newer, better condition pans would be a nice to have; but workable as-is.

Would definitely recommend, and would happily stay here again. Thanks!

Rocky Mountain Getaway

  • 4 of 5

If you are looking to stay in a rustic old cabin...this is the place for you. It has plenty of charm and this property surely fits the bill. It is well stocked with all of the essentials...paper products, towels, etc. The mountain atmosphere is amazing and the area is very quiet and relaxing. The cabin is spacious and provies room and beds for many! It is very close an convenient to many attractions. We enjoyed Garden of the Gods, The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, and the cave dwellings which were all minutes away and took a 1 1/2 our drive to Canon City to white water raft.

As much as we enjoyed our stay, a few things could be improve upon. The cabin is very old which provides it's charm, however a good cleaning is needed...we found food on the floor under the table and it was overall dusty and cobwebby in the corners. With that being said, the kitchen, bathrooms and berooms were clean. In addition, the furniture is old, lumpy and uncomfortable an needs some updating. However, we did not let this take away from the fun and quiet relaxation we had during our stay. We enjoyed staying in this old, historic cabin on the mountain!

Great mountain fun!

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our recent stay here! We had a total of 4 adults and 7 kids and had plenty of room! More than enough sleeping space as well! Had all the right tools to have multiple family dinners/cookouts! The staff had answers to all my questions in a timely manner! We would definitely book here again!
