Cottage, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)
Why Chris chose Union Pier
We love the location, only 75 minutes from downtown Chicago, yet a world away from all that noise and hustle. The area has chosen to keep the immediate area less developed so we still have gravel roads. A 4-minute walk down a wooded path leads you to a semi- private beach where you can soak up the sun or enjoy a glass of wine at sunset. Another favorite is sitting on the screened in porch talking and laughing the night away. The architecture of this home is unique amongst all area homes. It's great to see a first timer enter the great room. Their 1st word is usually "Wow!"
What makes this Cottage unique
A couple of things you'll LOVE about the cottage are: The screened-in front porch. You can easily seat 8 people. It's cozy day or night and we provide a soft-sided cooler on the porch so you won't have to go too far for your next beverage. At night the porch is lit with dimmable white Italian (Christmas style) lights so it's never too bright or too dark! Inside the architecture is one of a kind with true open bean construction. The beams are reclaimed wood from a Sears and Roebuck warehouse that was torn down decades ago. The 4'x6' skylight above the hallway and loft assures the interior never feels dark during the day and allows you to stargaze indoors at night. The kitchen is what makes the great room. Featuring a dark granite countertop and a "funky" corrugated metal front wall you and your guests will find yourselves gathering at the island constantly. The double basin stainless steel sink, restaurant kitchen style faucet along with a Viking 4 burner cooktop and griddle plus all the kitchen tools and gadgets you'd ever need make the kitchen a great place to have cheese, crackers, and a glass of wine or cook a full gourmet meal. The decor. From the kitchen island, the 14' natural edge cherry wood dining table, custom made fireplace, open beams and metal turnbuckles, unique artwork, natural stone bathroom floors, bedroom drapes and pillows made from antique dish towels, Huge leather sofa and antique tables and cabinets all come together perfectly to make an eclectic yet, warm & homey, environment. Plus the semi-private beach is only a 4-minute walk down a gravel road and wooded path. Perfect!

Another great week at Four Seasons Bungalow!
Our family had another wonderful & relaxing week in Union Pier at Four Seasons Bungalow! I believe this is our 15th year!
Love the Lake
The cottage was great! Close to the Lake in a great community. We had a wonderful time! Sad for the week to end.
A Welcoming home away from home
We have stayed at Four Seasons for over 9 years. We come back because it is so welcoming and we have had so many wonderful dinners at the harvest table using the equipment of the well appointed kitchen. We have had as few as two people at that table and as many as 20. The open floor plan allows people to be in the same room but not feel crowded. Many books have been read on the front porch along with many glasses of wine being poured and friends sharing time together. Our daughters have notes in the journal from when they were going into high school and now this year, we came up after they graduated from college. Four Seasons has been part of our and their memories of summers in Michigan and for that we are grateful.
Thank you for your continued patronage and appreciation of the cottage. While I work hard to make everyone feel welcome, its families like yours that continue to come back year after year that are gratifying to me and speak volumes about the cottage.
I hope you have you and many other families enjoy what I know is a special place for many years to come.
Amazing. Everything there you need. Chris is very generous. House well stocked in every way!
5-7 min walk to great private beach. Great place to just relax & relax some more!
Thanks Marnie. It was great to have your family/friends at the cottage. Hope to see you again next year!
Perfect family vacation spot!
Our family of 7 adults and a one year old fit the space well. The great room (kitchen, dining, living) made it easy for everyone to be together, yet doing different things (TV, reading, puzzles, games). Those who woke up early in the mornings enjoyed coffee in the screened in porch. Cooking and clean-up in the kitchen was fun - with the awesome gas range, double ovens, huge commercial sink, and dishwasher. The bedrooms are spacious; however, one bedroom is a loft and doesn't offer much privacy. The bathrooms were fully stocked with soap, shampoo, and enough towels for everyone, but the floors are hard on the feet (stones in cement).
It's an easy walk to the semi-private beach - but bring a bike lock so you don't have to haul beach chairs back and forth every time! Hot dogs and s’mores one night on the beach are a must do … be sure to bring bug spray for the sand bugs.
We enjoyed the Lazy Ballerina Winery Tasting Room in Bridgman and antique shops (follow Red Arrow Hwy north to find many). We ventured into Three Oaks, found that many stores were closed M-W, but enjoyed ice cream at Mooney’s Blue Moon. Whitefish dinner at Red Arrow Roadhouse was delicious.
There are a couple of reasons why we are not giving 5 stars: the place needed a good cleaning and there was no storage space for groceries, other than the counter. We turned on the fan and big wads of dust fell from the blades. There were cobwebs in the rafters. The grill ash-catcher hadn’t been emptied in a while. The cabinets were filled with kitchen stuff, leaving no pantry area at all.
Thanks for your kind words and honest comments about the cottage. I try very hard to make the place as well appointed as any place can be. It appears you came in mid-season and there may have been collecting items in the cupboards from earlier in the season. As for the fans & rafters, I wish you had called me. Both my cleaning crew and I are always happy to stop by and make whatever we can right for you. Suffice to say all have been cleaned now!
Again, thanks for both the kind words and places you feel we can improve. I hope to have you as a guest again next year!
Another awesome stay
We have been vacationing at Union Pier for many years and we keep coming back to Four Seasons because it truly suits our needs and is a fun stay.
A good place run by good people. Thanks, The Montgomerys and Riesens.
