We came to Chattanooga on an ArtsMove Grant from Bradenton, Florida where we were one of a group of artists instrumental in creating The Village of the Arts, the largest arts enclave on the Gulf Coast.
Miki & Tom purchased this house in 2007
We fell in love with Chattanooga, and being urban pioneers, we love living right downtown. There is so much happening in this medium sized culturally rich city with a myriad of activities for singles and families alike.
We are walking distance to great restaurants and right around the corner from the free electric shuttle bus or bike rentals along the way to take you anywhere around downtown ending at the Tennessee River. The Aquarium, live theatre, Symphony, movie theatre and much much more. And there is off-street parking behind the house.
Very rarely do we come across a place that is so in tune with what we enjoy and appreciate. This stay has been one of those occasions and it has been so relaxing and comfortable and stimulating visually as well. Loved the thought and imagination that has gone into the setup but most of all, meeting Miki & Tom has been the real treat. This house is just like them -- unique, inspiring and caring -- we shall be back!
It felt like home! Miki and Tom (Owners) are great. House was clean, spacious and very nicely decorated. Close proximity to downtown and the popular attractions (Stone City, Ruby Falls, Incline Railway are all within 10-15 min drive). For those that like the outdoors and stay fairly active, the property is close enough to allow one to walk the entire downtown Chattanooga area. A free shuttle ride is available around the corner for those that prefer or are not able to walk. There is also a park across the street from the property so little ones can play. Overall, we loved the property, location and everything else it has to offer.
We had a wonderful stay in Chattanooga - felt very lucky to have stayed in Miki's home. Surrounded by art - we loved staring at 'Hanna and her hummingbird'...so good! Home had everything we needed (thank you for the coffee!), even cooked a few meals. Easy parking, right outside the back porch. Pleasantly surprised to find recycling bins. Location is very convenient to downtown Chattanooga.
Interesting and lovely home. All the amenities. Great location for all the downtown activities. Highly recommend.
This home is amazing! It was very clean, the owners are very warm and welcoming. The home had everything you need when traveling to another city. The location was great and close to many restraunts, shops and transportation to local tourist attractions.
Owners were great! The house is cute, although there are some sketchy properties behind the house that made me feel a little bit uncomfortable. (That said, I did walk alone to pickup breakfast in the mornings and felt comfortable doing that.) The back bedroom smells funny....otherwise we enjoyed our stay and the hospitality. Oh one note: the pictures show 3 bedrooms, so you may assume all 3 bedrooms are available to you. We did, only to learn when we got there that the 3rd bedroom (an art studio with a Murphy bed) isn't set up as a bedroom unless you have 6 people. This wasn't made clear. I have 3 kids and planned to put my daughter in the 3rd bedroom; boys were going to share the twin beds in the 2nd bedroom. The owner asked in advance if we needed a blowup bed for my toddler...I assumed she was thinking we might still have him in a crib and so we might not want him in a real twin bed. As it turns out, she was asking because she wasn't planning to make the 3rd bedroom available to us. It wasn't a big deal, and we set up the blowup bed after all, and it was fine. Kids were happy and comfortable. Really it was just a miscommunication. But I do think that, because the pictures show 3 bedrooms, if the 3rd bedroom isn't part of the deal, that should be explicitly stated.
My three siblings and I stayed for a fun weekend in Chattanooga. We loved it from the moment we drove up. The outside is fun and welcoming. Miki met us and showed us around. She is a very talented artist and walking around finding her art all through the house was a treat. She was helpful and friendly. The house is comfortable, clean, and well stocked. Again, her art was fun to see at every turn. The location is great - quiet street, easy walk to great restaurants and bars and the Escape Experience. We'd stay here again. It's uniqueness makes it incredibly special.
Located downtown in the historic Southside arts district, we love being able to walk to restaurants and down to the waterfront. Our favorite breakfast/lunch place is the Bluegrass Grille at the corner. The Flying Squirrel and The Terminal, just two of our favorite local watering holes, are a couple of blocks away. Five minutes by car is Ruby Falls, The Incline Railway, and Rock City. Voted the #2 arts destination in a mid-sized City and Where to Retire Magazine voted it one of the top places in the country to live (Mar/Apr 2011). (The owners made the cover). Rich in cultural and outdoor activities, fabulous restaurants, and lots of attractions and Seasonal festivals. Just 1-1/2 hours from Atlanta, and 10 minutes from the Chattanooga Metropolitan airport.
Golf: There are more than six municipal golf courses within fifteen minutes to half an hour of downtown with moderate price ranges.
