Our cabin is nestled in the majestic mountain terrain of Gallatin National Forest and is just twelve miles from Gardiner, a year round gateway to Yellowstone National Park. It is the perfect distance to be able to enjoy Yellowstone but be able to get away from the crowds. From The Lazy M Yellowstone National Park is a scenic 20-25 minute drive. Our cabin is 30 minutes from Chico Hot Springs, an hour from Livingston, and hour and a half from Bozeman Airport.
The cabin is adjacent to Cinnabar Creek, which is great for small trout fishing, and has a magnificent porch with Adirondack chairs to enjoy the beautiful mountain view. If you want to just sit back and relax you can spend hours sitting on the porch next to the creek drinking coffee or wine while reading one of our many books or just enjoying the peaceful environment. Watch deer, elk, and big horn sheep in the meadow out the front door, along the creek or on the nearby bluffs. Bears have also been seen from the porch and along the road. If you are really lucky you may even see a mountain lion. During the evening hours make sure to keep an ear open for howling wolves.
There is a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, pull out sleeper sofa in main cabin and a Tulikivi Fireplace.
This is a mountain cabin in the heart of Montana’s wilderness. While it has most of the amenities of home, it is still a rustic cabin. We have books, travel guides and games in the cabin, along with wireless internet (due to the cabin's remote location the speed is slow). There is no TV or phone in the cabin.
Paul and Emily purchased our property in 1994 after looking for a number of years. Emily's great grandfather had owned a general store next to the Crow Indian reservation in the 1890's. Her grandmother grew up in Anaconda, Montana. We have always enjoyed the landscape and dry mountain air of Montana. Paul and Emily had vacationed for many years in Yellowstone National Park before we purchased the LazyM. Day to day operation of the LazyM is done by Paul and Emily's daughter Laurel
Emily Sherman, Paul & Laurel Koller purchased this cabin in 1994
We choose this location because of it's proximity to Yellowstone Park and the beautiful scenery of Paradise Valley while allowing us quiet seclusion when needed. We enjoy hiking, fishing and both downhill and cross country skiing.
Sitting on the porch or deck you have a wonderful view of Cinnabar mountain. At night you can sleep with the sound of the creek flowing by and enjoy the fresh mountain air. Our cabin was built in the 1950's and we have tried to preserve it's original charm. We have white pine floors in the main cabin and rustic kitchen cabinets.
We really enjoyed the cabin. It was perfect for our plans. We felt right at home here. We will pass on this onformation to anyone coming to Yellowstone. Have a great Montana summer.
My husband and I had a wonderful time at this cabin. We arrived after four long days of traveling and were amazed how secluded and quaint the cabin was. It was very clean and uncluttered. There was plenty of room to be comfortable and a beautiful porch to sit and relax and just be. A stream next to the cabin sang us to sleep each night and a beautiful sunrise greeted us each morning. This was all we could have hoped for while visiting Yellowstone. It was recommended to us by our son, who stayed there two years ago, and we would definitely recommend it to anyone planning to visit in the future. We hope to get back there some day, but for now we have our beautiful pictures to enjoy of a perfect vacation and a perfect secluded, cozy cabin!
This log cabin is in a lovely setting with a view of the mountains and the sound of a rushing river. It's down a gravel road about 10/15+- minutes from Gardiner... A perfect spot to come back and unwind after the often crowded Yellowstone. It's simple but clean and well furnished. The pull out sofa is THE most comfortable I've ever slept on. And, although there's no sink in the bathroom, the refreshing and clean well water made up for the minor inconvenience. Our family of 4 would relish the opportunity to stay here again, and I highly recommend it.
Thanks for a wonderful experience at the Lazy M Mountain Cabin. Located in a very convenient spot close to Yellowstone it was the perfect spot to unwind and relax! We would go into the park in the mornings and return to relax on the front porch in the afternoons and evenings. No tv and phone to distract us from the beauty of the mountains turned out to be a nice plus. We never were able to connect to the Internet which was fine. The collection of books to read was a nice addition.
We had a great time at this cabin. It was conveniently located 15 minutes from downtown Gardiner, MT. The cabin was clean, comfortable, and the location on the creek for beautiful. We would definitely stay here again.
The Lazy M cabin is very well maintained and unusually well located close to Yellowstone. The location beside a mountain stream is especially nice. It's remote from the busier valley north of Yellowstone but close enough to easily get to the park and enjoy it daily. The owners have gone to extra effort to preserve the "cabin" ambiance.
Also, allowing pets is a bonus.
Even though there's wifi indicated, it doesn't communicate with the outside world, nor does cell phone coverage. This may be a plus or minus depending on your outlook but we think there should at least be phone service in case of emergency.
We would not hesitate to rent again, just for the convenience to Yellowstone and mountain setting.
The Cabin was wonderful. Warm and calm, and quiet.
The only bad thing was; our wifi was not working!
Everything was great. And one more thing! If you are gonna cook in the cabin, buy groceries at the Bozeman. Livingston is pretty expensive, and Gardiner is way more!
Also be careful of the neighborhood dog's poops and pee! I almost stepped on them.
Couldn't find any grizzly bear. Saw some spots on the reviwe book in cabin, so you should go and look on it.
Thanks to Laurel & Emily, providing us a great place to stay.
Don't get confused with small cabin in Lazy M property!
