Our cabin is nestled in the majestic mountain terrain of Gallatin National Forest and is just twelve miles from Gardiner, a year round gateway to Yellowstone National Park. It is the perfect distance to be able to enjoy Yellowstone but be able to get away from the crowds. From The Lazy M Yellowstone National Park is a scenic 20-25 minute drive. Our cabin is 30 minutes from Chico Hot Springs, an hour from Livingston, and hour and a half from Bozeman Airport.
The cabin is adjacent to Cinnabar Creek, which is great for small trout fishing, and has a magnificent porch with Adirondack chairs to enjoy the beautiful mountain view. If you want to just sit back and relax you can spend hours sitting on the porch next to the creek drinking coffee or wine while reading one of our many books or just enjoying the peaceful environment. Watch deer, elk, and big horn sheep in the meadow out the front door, along the creek or on the nearby bluffs. Bears have also been seen from the porch and along the road. If you are really lucky you may even see a mountain lion. During the evening hours make sure to keep an ear open for howling wolves.
There is a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, pull out sleeper sofa in main cabin and a Tulikivi Fireplace.
This is a mountain cabin in the heart of Montana’s wilderness. While it has most of the amenities of home, it is still a rustic cabin. We have books, travel guides and games in the cabin. There is no TV or phone in the cabin.
Paul and Emily purchased our property in 1994 after looking for a number of years. Emily's great grandfather had owned a general store next to the Crow Indian reservation in the 1890's. Her grandmother grew up in Anaconda, Montana. We have always enjoyed the landscape and dry mountain air of Montana. Paul and Emily had vacationed for many years in Yellowstone National Park before we purchased the LazyM. Day to day operation of the LazyM is done by Paul and Emily's daughter Laurel
Emily Sherman, Paul & Laurel Koller purchased this cabin in 1994
We choose this location because of it's proximity to Yellowstone Park and the beautiful scenery of Paradise Valley while allowing us quiet seclusion when needed. We enjoy hiking, fishing and both downhill and cross country skiing.
Sitting on the porch or deck you have a wonderful view of Cinnabar mountain. At night you can sleep with the sound of the creek flowing by and enjoy the fresh mountain air. Our cabin was built in the 1950's and we have tried to preserve it's original charm. We have white pine floors in the main cabin and rustic kitchen cabinets.
We really enjoyed the cabin. It was perfect for our plans. We felt right at home here. We will pass on this onformation to anyone coming to Yellowstone. Have a great Montana summer.
My husband and I had a wonderful time at this cabin. We arrived after four long days of traveling and were amazed how secluded and quaint the cabin was. It was very clean and uncluttered. There was plenty of room to be comfortable and a beautiful porch to sit and relax and just be. A stream next to the cabin sang us to sleep each night and a beautiful sunrise greeted us each morning. This was all we could have hoped for while visiting Yellowstone. It was recommended to us by our son, who stayed there two years ago, and we would definitely recommend it to anyone planning to visit in the future. We hope to get back there some day, but for now we have our beautiful pictures to enjoy of a perfect vacation and a perfect secluded, cozy cabin!
A quaint and secluded and spooky cabin in the wilderness. Enjoyed the drive up and past the cabin. Every thing needed on hand. Very clean and warm. Neighbors camper a little close. All in all a great experience. Enjoyed the two mule deer coming and going. Also the ewe big horn sheep at the end of the road. Thanks for a wonderful time. Bed very comfortable.
My wife and I had a wonderful stay. When we arrived, there were two deer near the cabin. It was extremely quite and with no internet nor cell phone service, was exactly what we were looking for. We loved that the cabin was far enough away from the main roads that it was extremely quiet but close to Yellowstone and Gardiner. The owners were quick to respond to all questions. The bathroom was a bit on the snug side, but our only real complaint was the proximity of the neighbor and the trampoline and motorhome right outside the bedroom window. From the booking website it was impossible to see how close the neighbor is. With that said, we only saw the neighbor once and never heard them. I would highly recommend this cabin and if we are in the area again would consider staying here again.
As we drove to the cabin, we knew we had made the right selection for our Yellowstone Family Vacation. We wanted a rustic secluded cabin in the mountains. We were however, extremely disappointed when we arrived at the cabin and there was the neighbor's trampoline, broken lawn mower, broken down truck - all just outside our cabin window.
We decided to stay, and our week ended up just fine. The owners of the Lazy M cabin have built privacy walls on the porches to block those things from sight, and we were never bothered.
The cabin was perfectly accommodating. It was well stocked with everything needed and much much more. There are plenty of blankets and pillows; all the kitchen supplies you could possibly need to bake/ cook.
Both the bedroom bed and sleeper sofa were very comfortable. And we thoroughly enjoyed being outside around the cabin. There is now a side deck as well as the front porch -both have beautiful views and the sound of the creek in the background.
We cooked several meals in the cabin, hiked nearby, fished, watched deer in the yard, drank alot of coffee, built a fire in the woodstove. Our vacation ended up just perfect. Many thanks to Lazy M!
We had an amazing stay! The owners were so quick to respond with any questions asked leading up to our stay. The cabin itself is warm and cozy with plenty of day to day must have's stocked. Great tourist information provided as well. First impression pulling up was the neighbors being so close on the back side, but we never seen or heard from them. The cabin is close enough to run into Gardiner or Yellowstone if needed, but set far enough off the beaten path to feel alone.. HIGHLY RECOMMEND STAYING HERE!
This log cabin is in a lovely setting with a view of the mountains and the sound of a rushing river. It's down a gravel road about 10/15+- minutes from Gardiner... A perfect spot to come back and unwind after the often crowded Yellowstone. It's simple but clean and well furnished. The pull out sofa is THE most comfortable I've ever slept on. And, although there's no sink in the bathroom, the refreshing and clean well water made up for the minor inconvenience. Our family of 4 would relish the opportunity to stay here again, and I highly recommend it.
The LazyM is located 4 miles off Highway 89 near Gardiner, Montana (Yellowstone's North Entrance). This is the ideal location for day trips into Yellowstone National Park, while being able to return to quiet seclusion of sitting on the deck overlooking Cinnabar Creek. Hiking, Horseback riding, skiing, are all available nearby. Whitewater rafting and world class fishing on the Yellowstone are just a 10 minute drive.
Other Activities: Wildlife Viewing from the property as well as in Yellowstone.
Ski: For downhill skiing Bridger Bowl is 80 miles away from the cabin. Lots of cross country skiing in the area.
