About Property Manager
Hello, My name is Steve; Jon and his wife Kimberly and I bought this property in 2005 for our get-a-way home as we decompress from our busy lives. We primarily live in Florida and spend as much time as we can up here as the summer heat continues to rise. We enjoy the cool weather as we venture out into the surrounding mountains and dive into the crystal clear lake off the dock at our very cozy lakefront home. We also enjoy coming here in the winter time to ski the local ski resorts as well. Whether winter or summer time, I'm sure you will enjoy these aspects as well and you will see there is so much to do in the area. Come be our guest, you will not be disappointed.

Why Property Manager chose Meredith
We originally bought this property to escape the summer heat of Florida and relax in the solitude that this home provides. We love the quaint village of Meredith that offers very nice upscale shops, dining and seasonal activities. We are not using the house as much as we would like so we thought others may want to have the opportunity to enjoy the house and surrounding area as much as we do.
What makes this House unique
You will enjoy the open spaces the house provides with a large fully furnished deck to relax on as the sunsets. Fire up the grill and have a great dinner with a fabulous view overlooking the lake and surrounding mountains. The house has been stylishly appointed throughout which will give you the homey atmosphere you desire. With the village of Meredith just 10 minutes away, you can explore the shops, go antiquing or just walk around taking it all in. The clubhouse is perfect for family gatherings and picnics just 4 houses down from you. The kids can play sand volleyball or swim out to the floating dock platform and soak up the sun. With 350 feet of sandy beach, the kids can enjoy a cool dip anytime they want. There is also a foosball and shuffleboard table in the clubhouse for additional entertainment. These are nice amenities not available at very many, if any rental properties in this area. We know you will enjoy the house and the area as much as we do. You'll want to come back again and again after you discover everything this property has to offer. Don't forget winter time! We are very close to several ski areas too!

Beautiful and peaceful
Just spent 5 days that this fantastic house. The best part of this place is the outside deck area, from waking up in the morning overlooking the lake and listening to the peaceful sounds to the evening with the tiki torches ablaze enjoying dinner and cocktails. The house is beautifully rustic with very solid furniture throughout. The bedrooms are not very plentiful is you are looking to put air mattresses on the floor (with the exception being the master bedroom) but very comfortable otherwise. There is AC units in 2 bedrooms but not the others so I was surprised at how warm the bedrooms were but fans were provided in addition to the ceiling fans. The walk from the house down the many stairs to the water was a little challenging for little kiddos (and exhausted adults) but the property gave you everything you needed with the outdoor fire pit, chair swings, dock for fishing and swimming. We rented a pontoon boat for a couple days that was easily docked and very very enjoyable. The property also provided kayaks and canoes for use with was great. The other fantastic amenity was the option to use the beach club, only 5ish houses down and provided a sandy beach area, more water sports options with paddle boards, kayaks, paddles boats, water trampoline and more, including a large grassy area for wiffle ball and such for the kids. This was my first time to the area and so happy that Lake Winnisquam in general is a lovely, clean and warm lake and the drive to everything was only about 20 minutes. Overall great vacation property with lots to offer.
Thank you very much for staying with and hope you'll decide to stay with us again in the future.
Our family had a lovely time at this rental. It was very relaxing to be able to sit on the deck and look at the crystal clear Lake Winnisquam. We enjoyed jumping off the dock and warming up by the fire while eating our Smore's. Our only disappointment was that we had to drive to the beach every day because the roads were too hilly for our two 2-year olds and two 5-year olds to walk, but our seven-year-old enjoy kayaking over with his dad. And everyone enjoyed using the additional paddleboard and kayak's at the community beach as well as swimming out to the trampoline raft.
Great location and house
Great property, hopefully a one-time fluke planning hiccup
I rented this property with a group of couples for Labor Day weekend and had a nice time. The house itself is great, well-furnished, well-supplied. The rooms are comfortable and accommodate a lot of people, and there is plenty of space and linens, etc. The two kitchens, grill, common spaces (esp the porch), and waterfront were terrific. We also walked/kayaked to the beach club and used the amenities there, which was a nice perk.
The one thing - and this is hopefully a one-time fluke - is that their cleaning person apparently "no showed" between the last group's stay and ours, which I believe was 1-2 weeks apart. We showed up and the place was a mess - ton of trash, dirty linens, food crumbs in kitchen, dirty underwear in the bed. We were able to use the laundry machines and supplies to do a clean up job. Not how we wanted to start the long weekend after a long drive from Boston and New York but it's fine.
What bothered me more is that there was little consideration for giving part of our money back for our two hours of cleaning until we pushed, when that is an immediate response I would have given if I were in his position. After we left, the owner did make an inspection of the property (unlike before we arrived) and was very agitated about missing or broken items and scuffed furniture. I am 100% sure we did not break or steal any items. I was willing to consider the possibility that we scuffed furniture in the normal use and just didn't realize it, but the owner wasn't willing to provide the small reimbursement for not cleaning the place because he wanted to hold us accountable for the damages that he couldn't be sure were ours. This is a simple problem that good property management - having the place cleaned and inspected between guests - would have avoided. I do not think we should have been held accountable for damages that were most likely from the previous guests. I know for a fact we were better guests than the previous because we left the house in a much better, cleaner condition than we found it.
All this to say - it's a great house if everything works out perfectly. The owners clearly care about the house. I was not happy with the way the trouble-shooting situation was handled. However, given they are remote, I wanted to share this experience in the slim chance they actually regularly shirk on cleaning and inspection and put it all on their guests. If this happens again, definitely make it known.
To whom this my concern: My name is Steve Hollaway and owner of the for mentioned property. I appreciate the opportunity to respond to this review. First of all I don't understand why anyone would wait 10 months to post a negative review like this from a previous years rental? That being said we did have an isolated incident with our former housekeeper of 3 years who clearly didn't do her/their job as they should have. They were relieved of their employment with us following this unexceptable and unexpected event. I was at my home in Florida at the time the lake house was occupied and returned to New Hampshire following the rental departure to clarify why the property wasn't inspected by myself prior to renters occupancy. I also had been informed "wrongly" by the former housekeeper that the house had been cleaned the "week prior". Regardless we owned the problem and apologized profusely in addition to making the renters whole financially after doing some brief fact finding. I also should mention that I offered to have a different cleaning service come in to straighten up what had been left and they declined my offer saying they had things under control. We hope this will not discourage any future rental inquires reading this because we truly try to do the best we can make everyone comfortable. Sometimes things happen that are beyond ones control. Best Regards, Steve /Owner
July 4th Family Vacation
Our Family rented this property this past July 4th 2015 and we absolutely Love this Property! The pictures do not do it justice! The Property is equipped with everything you could possibly need for a fun week, it's all the little things they don't tell you about that make a difference. All of the books games videos etc. Outdoors we were able to go down the street and use the trampoline the kids had so much fun and the adults did too! We did a little fishing right off of the dock and almost caught one! We had the boat so we were tubing and water-skiing. The whole property is almost brand new and that is the only reason why I gave it 4 stars the week we stayed there was an issue with the well other than that the place is amazing! The owner did fix the well shortly after we rented so if you are looking to rent this Property do not hesitate you will not be sorry! It is Awesome!
